Evernight

A land of darkness, where you are the only hope to restore the light.  Discuss the world of Tarth and the invaders to come.

Evernight 2?

I am a member of the Savage Worlds Yahoo group, and honestly, I haven't been paying attention lately.  However, today I happened to look through my mail messages, and happened to see a question on Evernight 2.

Now, Evernight is the game that brought me to Savage Worlds in the first place.  It is a very atypical fantasy genre, and I love the pure cruelty of the game.  It is definately savage.  From what I read, there was suppose to be a trilogy of games in the Evernight genre, each played with seperate characters and with seperate plotlines.  The three parts correspond to the three areas taken over by the invaders.  Of course, the first one was set in the area of King's Landing, but I am assumign some of the areas touched on in the player's section are covered in the other sections.

Has anyone heard of this rumor, or is it simply smoke and mirrors?

Re: Evernight 2?

I've heard that there will be an EN2, not a scripted game but a plot point book.

I've heard it's elsewhere, I hadn't heard it would be with differnt PCs

Re: Evernight 2?

Yeah, what I have seen is in line with what OBD said... They are going to go back and remake the scripted games as plot point games in order to give them more longevity (and love).

Re: Evernight 2?

One of the posters on the Savage Worlds Yahoo board mentioned that it was going to be a plot point system, more in line with 50 Fathoms and ToD.  That's pretty cool, since it allows for more adventure than just what is listed, especially if they have a random adventure generator like the other books.

As for the PC issue, I thought the responder to that particular post mentione dthat other PCs would tackle that.  Of course, it has been speculated that the entire series would get a makover, and that all three portions would be packed into a single book.

I really want to run an Evernight adventure, but I'd have to do a lot of pre-work before starting it.  Set up the maps and such for the game before hand, because that seems to be a weak point of mine.

Re: Evernight 2?

I have tried figuring this out but I can't seem to find the whole story. What is this game about can someone give me a small description of what is it going on. It almost sounds alien. I am also very confused why more people don't end up playing. It seems like the game never really got the type of marketing it should.

Re: Evernight 2?

It's my understanding, never having played, the Evernight starts as a typical fantasy world, elves, dwarves, wizards, etc., when bad buys invade.  So instead of your typical smiting of evil, you are running and hiding, and (presumably) eventually saving the world.

Re: Evernight 2?

Oggy has it right about Evernight.

About the long-awaited Evernight 2:
Originally, there were supposed to be three sequels, each dealing with one of the spikes (a spike being the "command center" of the bad guys, so to speak), each getting its own plot point campaign.

Then that idea was scrapped, instead wrapping the whole thing into one massive book. The characters of the original campaign would be important NPC, with optional rules on how to run EN2 if the players insist on continuing their old characters.

There are some inherent problems with continuing the storyline of EN1, IMHO, that's possibly why there hasn't been any real progress on it that I know of.

What is a good race to add to Evernight? In my Evernight game I added scrullians from 50 Fathoms.

I would think that a race more oriented toward living underground.  Perhaps they are discovered/re-discovered after night falls.

Re: Evernight 2?

I added lizard men from the Dragon Isles - originally a "slave race" for the humans of the dragon isles.
Made for interesting conflict where first the lizards thought that the masters would free them... but then turned out to be even worse.

And I think someone added the Avians from the original rulebook to EN as well.

About a re-boot: Well, not necessarily. I think an Evernight-sequel with a Weird Wars angle would be interesting.
Think about it "Weird Wars: Evernight" has a nice ring to it, it'd contain rules for magic users in battles, there'd be colllaborators and resistance movements...

I have a brief outline of the whole thing on my harddrive but never submitted it to PEG. I know I don't have the time to write a full setting.

Those would be cool, but even if you went with a more established/familiar underground race: mind flayers, duergar (sp?), dark elves, etc.

I'm trying hard to not give myself spoilers, so I don't know how (or if) they work in the EN cosmology.

Well the Bad Guys in EN are a lot like MINDFLAYERS so I wouldn't use them. What in the Blue Hell are duergar?

In dnd?  quite a bit.

in SW?  up to you :)

dual-scimitar wielding rangers aside, dark elves were generally bad guys, not PCs.

If you want to mimic the DnD ones:
Darkvision instead of low-light.  They could use Obscure once per encounter.  Poisoned crossbows.

Well Then I wouldn't add them to Evernight. Because everyone(even the Orcs) Hate the Sa Karaan invaders and want to put them down.

Re: Evernight 2?

I don't know much of the backstory, but the Dark Elves could be those who worship them in a twisted way.  Or just generically evil elves, gives the PCs the choice of allying with someone who usually is an enemy.  Although I suppose that's what they do with orcs.

Is there a reason only Humans can be Sunpriests and RedKnights? If not I'd like to make Gnasher converts following the Sol by becoming a sun priest.

Re: Evernight 2?

Only humans could following the sun.
Gnashers could be revere the sun, but not be priest or red knight.
The reason is only hinted, but it could be interpreted that the power of the
priest's is the same power that the MASTER's use.

Re: Evernight 2?

You are player, not GM?
At first reading I didnt really made the connection.
Its not really important for the plot arc.
So maybe your GM didnt like this way of interpretation and simply ignore it for a cool character concept.

No I am the GM. In the beginning the Players gave a Gnasher a sun rod and taught him about SOL. So later that same gnasher came back with his tribe and rescued the players using Miracles. They then took the PCs to king's landing.
