50 Fathoms

Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of Masaquani Ale!  Discuss the world of endless water here, and don't forget to wear your pirate hat.

Re: 50 Fathoms

Did you all know there was a 50 Fathoms Companion out?  I thought there were plenty of adventures in the first book, but it seems that Pinnacle didn't think there were enough.

I can't get any specifics at the moment, since the Pinnacle site is down, but I'll post something as soon as it is up again.

Re: 50 Fathoms

Yup, have th companion, think its awesome. I've run two or three of the tales in it, and one of my players has gone crazy with the rules for making his own weapons and such.

It also has some more setting info, better fleshing out the Thousand Isles. All in all, it's more than worth the money. Wiggy's working on something similar for Rippers, and I;ll definitely be picking that up when it hits the store.

Re: 50 Fathoms

Incidently if anyone here is interested in playing in the 50 fathoms game I have a spot open.  My navigator has dropped due to some time restrictions on posting.  He so far is the first and only player to drop so I think that's a good sign.  If anyone is interested PM me.  I think 50 fathoms is my favorite setting so far.  Pirates and magic what's not to love.  I have the 50 fathoms companion and I agree it is definately worth the money it gives much more depth of the worlds culture and has several great adventures.

Re: 50 Fathoms

so, in a ship combat, the captain drives the boat, the gunner shoots.

what does everyone else do?  Can they assist the captain or gunner (under the each success and raise give the primary character a +1)?

Re: 50 Fathoms

Well, these are sailing ships, there's a lot more gunners. And yeah, people can make boating rolls as cooperative rolls to help the captain. And mages have plenty more options.

Re: 50 Fathoms

ClothFrog has to bow out of GMing his 50F game, can anyone step up and take over?  It's been running for quite some time, and I'd hate to see it end

Re: 50 Fathoms

Hey all,  I ran a 50 fathoms game for quite a while on Rpol and then had to drop out due to time issues.  My job and family commitments can occasionally interfere with my gaming life.   I'm thinking about starting an  new 50 fathoms game and wanted to measure the interest level.  If I do it I would like to have a small but committed group  that will check frequently and but be content with a moderate 5 times a week posting rate. ( that's a ball park figure- I wouldn't have a problem with players that could commit to posting more as long as they are comfortable if I can't respond right away to all posts. )  I have in mind following the standard story line with the 50 fathoms supplent but adding a sub plot of my own,  that will take time to develop. I don't want to rush it or over extend myself so I'm hoping slow and steady wins the race.   In fact I've always wanted to attend a Con on the Cob so I would particularly love to have players that may attend  next year and we could have a live session in the campaign ( I am open to other venues but CotC seems to be evolving into a very Savage friendly environment and I've been wanting to attend-I mean who doesn't want to visit Ohio in the fall) . It has been a long time goal to develop a long term gaming group on the web that can on occasion play a session in some con location.  I think the prospect of a once per year face to face gaming session cold really augment the rpol experience. Hope some of my old players see this, it was a good group and I would love to game with some of them again.

P. S. If any one is interested in running a campaign I'd love to get into a necessary evil or Deadland's campaign.

Re: 50 Fathoms

I would be interested in playing 50F.  Heck, I'd be interested in you restarting the game you were running originally, if enough original players were still around

Re: 50 Fathoms

I'd be interested in a low-volume game of 50F such as you describe, but I will not likely ever be able to attend the Con.

Re: 50 Fathoms

Yeah, I'm in the same shape. I'd be interested in giving a 50F game a try, but unfortunately CotC is out of the question for me. Gencon is the extent of my con going.

I'd love to join the game if you get it running but like some of the others. I can't attend Con's.

I ran a fairly long lived 50 fathoms campaign in the past on rpol and have been toying with starting a new one.  If anyone is interested let me know.

I have 50F, haven't every really looked at it but would like to give it a whirl. I'm bound to find a game (or two) here that finally has some staying power.

Re: 50 Fathoms

I could see starting with 3, depending on what the concepts were.  I mean, you'll have a crew of extras.  Seems to be that having a captain/navigator, a mage, and a gunner would work

Re: 50 Fathoms

I could play anything really, though the ideas I'm leaning toward the most are a Grael Whaler, a Scurillian Cannoneer, a Scurillian saw-bones (unless somebody plays a water mage), or a Kraken Water Mage (unless Strickland5 decides to reprise his Kraken character).

EDIT: I happened to notice you put up an interest thread, which looks like it got some bites.
