Mike said starting 8/18.  Also, how many XP's do I get, 431 or 100, or 531?

=====================================================================

It ain't rocket science!

You get the initial XPs (whatever lw has determined in her motherly/spritely fashion) for posting birthdays here.  I suggested a far lower number than she is happy with.  She also tips better at restaurants.
<--DAMN strait! when i was waitressing or barmaiding, if you were my customer i'd have thrown you the @!#$&%! out!

The 100 for your birthday is given ON your birthday and stated today, 8/18, so yep, you must wait.

If you're in a vehicle going the speed of light, what happens when you turn on the headlights?

Right, here we go!

Time to nerd it up...

You're moving at the speed of light, therefore all occurences are simultaneous, similarly from the point at which the headlights are on for the light.

So, basically, nothing special happens, except for the whole problem that it's really hard to turn on headlights when everything's simultaneous.

The real problems would happen when you try to slow down.

Ummm, I guess I'll stop being a physics geek now.

Speed of Darkness (StarCraft #3) Author(s): Tracy Hickman ISBN: 0671041509

or

If the speed of light is known, what is the speed of darkness? The two opposing schools of thought that have developed are:

1. Darkness does not move, it is always present, and light is layed on top of it. (As an analogy, consider a table as being darkness, a tablecloth as being light: when you pull the tablecloth off, the table itself (darkness) doesn't move).

2. Darkness moves at the same speed as light, and it meets the laws of motion in that Darkness is the equal and opposite reaction for the action of the movement of light.

Re:  the MONSTER thread

Darkness doesn't exist, therefore has no speed. Darkness is the by product of, or more correctly the absence of, light. There is a speed at which light travels from a light source to the eye, or to whatever place. There is no speed to the absence of light; it's just there when light isn't.

Re:  the MONSTER thread

To add to the confusion :)

We know the speed of light, since darkness is the absence of light, then the speed of darkness would equal the speed of light.  This is how fast light would leave the area, allowing darkness to exist.

But to take that one further step, I know of two things faster than either.  The speed of thought, I can think of a place and be there in my mind faster than light can travel there.

The other is how fast girls and, then later in life, women, would turn me down when I would ask them out.  Of course it seemed a lot longer then, with all the laughter that went with their answer.

Re:  the MONSTER thread

So, just so I can plug one of my favourites, I'm going to say that Scout there is getting at some correct answers (other than the fact, that yes, darkness does move at the speed of light (c)).

The only thing that we know of that actually travels faster than the speed of light (and that has been observed) are correlations between entangled quantum states.  Sir Roger Penrose has postulated that alot of thought could simply be evolving entangled quantum states... so I'm going to say Scout should get double dm birthday xp for being correct (at least according to RP).

Don't you think we should just have a theoretical physics thread?

Both of those say the same thing.  When light moves away you perceive darkness, at the speed of light.  One is the simple exlpanation, while the other encompasses the laws of physics.

About the physics thread, you are a DM :)
