Re: 6th level feat

People actually take that feat?

I always thought the +2 save and +2/+2 skill feats were just there for padding out the pages, or making prerequisites for better things.

Re: 6th level feat

Yeah, I would lump them into the same category as the weapon focus, etc feats. Case in point Quinlan, my first ROA character has both: Weapon focus, and Acrobatic (+2/+2 skill feat). What I should have chosen was weapon finesse, and dodge (to get the various mobility etc feats later on). Oh well, they all turn out fine after a few levels (and some magic items to even things out).

Re: 6th level feat

I don't take it often, except when playing Clerics - it's their one weak save, and I've rarely (ever?) seen any clerics with high Dexterity scores, so most of the time, they're going to fail miserably at their Reflex saves.  Clerics don't have a lot of weaknesses, generally, so I like shoring up the one they do have.  :p

I've also been known to take the +2/+2 skill bonus feats, by the way.  Chave used to have several of them, before retraining to let him pick up a familiar, remember?

Re: 6th level feat

I actually like the Weapon Focus/Weapon specialization and greater of those for a fighter...  The +2/+4 bonus at the end is great, especially with a high Strength.  You can actually expect to hit much higher AC's with the progression of these feats.

Well in first and second editions anyway, you can make an insane fighter at first or second levels with these feats.  Seems in 3 and 3.5 they have fixed it so that you can't get all four until 12th level, and in that case I may have to agree, is it really worth an extra 2 points of damage at lvl 12?

Re: 6th level feat

The problem being that it's only for one weapon, which makes them less powerful.

I'm thinking retraining the feats to weapon finesse and point blank shot which will be more in line with his style (as it has evolved).

Re: 6th level feat

Well the fact that it is only one weapon is a restriction that made it less than OP.  The addition of the level requirements has made this much less desireable, to the point of being absolutely pointless.

You can only get one every 4 levels...
Focus at 1
Specialization at 4
Greater Focus at 8
Greater Spec. at 12

This used to be fun for a specialized fighter, say a dwarven Fighter who only uses his Dwarven Waraxe or a Great Axe.  The dont believe in shields, but rather sheer power.  It gave him the ability to take on something slightly higher than himself without missing every other swing.

Re: 6th level feat

Hello everybody.

I'd like to announce a new region being developed for play here at Realms Of Adventure, being run by myself. It will follow the voyages of a spelljammer and its intrepid crew as they explore the Torillian crystal sphere and the phlogiston beyond, with occasional visits to the worlds of Eberron, Dark Sun and a galaxy far, far away.

Possible characters you could play include:
* A Cormyrean captain who is a wise elder statesman and diplomat
* Or a reckless adventurer with a girl in every port
* A sun elven magic officer from Evermeet, logical and rational
* A warforged of the Utter East exploring what it means to be more like a human
* An Airspur orc tactical officer, a proud and honourable warrior
* A dwarven engineer, who gives it all he's got

Wildspace... the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the Waterdhavan spelljammer Enterprise. Its continuing mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Please contact DM BadCatMan if interested.

I have two Playin in Badcat games, maybe that why I got to second sentance and just had this feeling.  Been laughting to my self about this all day.

Think Badcat should level up straight away with that one....

I love to know howmany did fall for it.

Re: 6th level feat

:D

I couldn't do the "we're switching to 4th edition rules and setting" one again, so I settled for one with a more positive spin. I'd hoped the whole Star Trek analogue setup would be enough of a give-away, but that seemed to be half the attraction. Actually, that would be pretty fun. :)

I got two applications by PM, and the two above.

So sorry to disappoint, but I know next-to-nothing about Spelljammer, and while I have plenty of inclination to start another game, I don't have the time (I run 7 games currently).

Re: 6th level feat

Hey all! I'm going to have to bail on my RoA games for now. Life happened and I need to pare back a bit. I did PM DM Puma to get relinked to a game that I accidentally removed from my stickies and couldn't figure out how to get back to, but now I really don't have the time.

Thanks for having a great corner of RPOL and I would like to stay in the OOC forum, perhaps getting back into a game eventually. Consider my characters to be inactive for the time being.

Thanks!

Its okay Suleimen, It has slowed down for a number of people.  Even I am having issues right now as well.  I don't plan on being gone for much longer though.  When you get your RL straitened out we will be here.

Re: 6th level feat

Hiya - a few questions:

1. Am I right in thinking I can't play a goblin monk?

2. Is there only one region looking for players? (to which I already have a character and so can't join?)

I had another. It's been forgotten. Darn tooting.

Hope everyones well! :)

Not without special permission from a DM or in a region specially tailored for that sort of character, no.  There is/was a Savage Species region with several monstrous humanoids in it, but I'm pretty sure that ended up closing down a while ago.  BadCatMan's Chessenta-region allows Orcs as characters, but I've not seen one where Goblins are allowed, sorry.

I just wasn't sure if they had been missed as... they are a rubbish race. More penalty than bonus.

But could have been fun. Thanks for the answer!

Just picturing the savage species region: a medusa, an angel, a minotaur a beholder and a... goblin?
