Re: Kara-Tur Repost

I and a friend are both interested, I would personally like to play a human and he a half orc servent of mine.  If that is doable.  Just letting you know our interests nothing more.

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

As I am always looking for a D&D game, and one shows up just after I join the biggest game of D&D on RPoL, I would be silly not to want to join.

The only problem is that Oriental Adventure is like, the one book I do not have.
Also I was making a halfling paladin, and I don't think either of them are in that realm >.>

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

I would be interested in a Kara-Tur campaign, but I already have two characters in active campaigns and accordingly would not, at present, be able to join such a region if it were to open.

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

Before the Ork King was written a friend came up with the idea that barried in the north was a city of dwarves and Orks, who had learned to live to gether, but eventually the actions of the dark elves along with the godess of night overtook the city and enslaved it’s populis.  What follows is something he thought up one night when a member of our group, an elf bard by name challenged him to a contast of song and poems.  This is part of one that he came up with, based on the city previously mentioned.

It was a day like this many years ago, when the land was covered with snow, I tell you cause it was so.  It was a day like this can’t you see when the snow covered both land and tree, and the blood of many flowed free.  But what they say of what ruled the day, of the forces that clashed and the reason why, that they say is a lie, I’ll tell you by and by.   For the elves that know can’t tell you that it was so, cause their ken have sent their souls to the great beyond, so that can’t sing their counter song, and undo the wrong.  Even so their voices still scream on the flesh that comes from killing the tree, of what happened to the orks like me.  It was a day like this many years ago, when the land was covered with snow, I’ll tell you cause it was so.  The sky was dark and overcast, with elves their skin dark and souls of black came to attack those whose souls are clean.  Whose souls were clean worshipers supreme of the moon, who were   out to soon worshiping the sinking moon.  On they came moving quiet and fast, plans most fowl, to attack by an overcast day and take away many  elves.  Take them away to their wholes and they would see the woods and delves no more.  All for the great Drow hore, their spider queen.    Who rains supreme  a spider queenn sitting in hell, where no good thing dwells.  Who rains supreme  a spider queenn sitting in hell, where no good thing dwells.   So on they came in a rushm weaving   the dark wards as they must putting all to hush and blinding most
To blind the prue ones to the terrible host.    Thus in surprise the pure ones could not cry and taken so could not fly and so not doing they would die and no one would hear their cries.   But fate would not have it so, because what no one knows is that Nargarthron, of whom I sing,  agreat Orkladin, might to behold had herd of the Drow’s supposed feast and offered them a great treat that was the mightiest jim of the orken  ken.  For   Nargarthron  ears were great and his  warriors moved in haste  to place themselves in the shadowed bans to surprised the dark skinned elf man and fill his heart with dread  and then to kill them dead.

It went on for a good bit more, but this all I have of it.

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

Thank you for the respones of interest!  After the weekend (American thanksgiving with familily and all is upon us) I'll contact the DMs and see about our "next steps" and possible options.

PC Dreamweaver314:
I and a friend are both interested, I would personally like to play a human and he a half orc servent of mine.  If that is doable.  Just letting you know our interests nothing more.

I see no reason why that wouldn't be allowed.

I think we could find the necessary resources for you. And, true, halfling Paladins aren't very "Oriental" but perhaps once you look at the classes/races you'd find something to your liking. In truth, a sohei might serve your paladinic concept quite well. This could allow you to "save" your halfling paladin for an opening in a different campaign elsewhere in the Realms.

PC Ionari:

I've heard there are exceptions for more than 2 PCs if the third is in a Bubble Region, but I think a Player has to be quite established here in the Realms for that exception to be granted. I will have to find out if it's even possible

If anyone else is interested, just give a shout. Thanks!

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

I currently have two orphaned characters: Gwendol Twinbeard, a dwarf warrior priest, and Quinlan Fairfellow, a scoundrel.

Neither are particularly at home in an oriental setting, but still fun to be around!
I also have a hobgoblin monk slated for retirement, who might fit the oriental theme better.

He's about to fight Ayesha in the Arena (drunken master wannabie), if you want to check him out. Hobgoblins make for great monks, even with the LA +1.

I have no idea where to ask...
But other than the horses, dogs or donkeys in the PHB, what mounts are allowed(specifically for Halflings)?  I know those crazy Eberron things ride dino's, but that doesn't seem right in the Realms...

... unless you're a druid in Chult ;)

Afaik we do not allow Eberron material but I remember somebody riding a camel, other than that you may want to consult the DM of your region and ask for more choices :)

Something with a climb speed.  I need one of those Drow lizards.

Actually, I should have asked in the same post, this one most likely needing a Sage;
Paladins- If I already own a mount, then summon my special one...  Is there any variant, like instead of now having two animals, my existing one gets a divine boost and gains the Paladin Special Mount abilities?
Or do I get to play with 2 mounts XD

Also, I need a region before I can ask my regional DM >XD

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

I doubt a mount with a climbing speed will be available, or at least for an insane amount of gold ;) But as I said: Ask you region's DM, I'm sure you'll be able to work something out.

Technically you would get a second mount, but as I see it, there is nothing wrong with having a divine event turning your steed into a celestial charger (the paladin's summoned mount). The DM could make it a big roleplay event, like the steed sacrificing himself for his master then returning from the heavens. Something along those lines. Again, you should approach your local DM with ideas and suggestions as this is fully within the realm of each individual DMs discretion :)

Thank you very much Raven.  Since you are being oh so helpful, would you like to make room for a halfling paladin in one of your realms while you're at it? ;-)

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

I'm afraid both regions are full, Sword Coast North with six players and a cohort, the North with seven players. I'd be most happy to accomodate you, but I don't think I can handle more, my appologies. Why don't you contact DM Solo for gaming in his Cormyr region, afaik he's looking for players :)

So I see, and it's a near perfect fit.  I see he's looking for a Paladin, and I was hoping to come from the Western Heartlands(which I believe Comyr is part of?)

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

You're welcome. Actually I'm a player in Solo's region so we might meet there. I'm not sure if he updated the player's wanted ad, recently somebody has taken over the (apparently) abandoned paladin in our group, though I don't think having two paladins is too much of a good thing ;)

Re: Kara-Tur Repost

Zadcap,

Take a look at the climbdog from the Arms & Equipment Guide (p. 76).  Small-sized, but with an extra 1-2 HD it is sized Medium (and paladin mounts do gain HD).  Not terribly expensive, either - about 150 gp.  The description says that they are often trained by primitive halflings - presumably as guards, not mounts, but with the extra HD it might be plausible to have one serve as a variant riding dog.

Oh, and as the name would suggest, this creature has a climb speed.
