RoA Community Chat Take 4

Since Our previous Community Chat hit the 1000 message mark, I'm building us a new one.  I will copy the last 4 posts in that thread and put them here, just for quick reference..

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

Now the problem some Persons may have is the problem of having two characters in active games.  And an intrest in Kara-tur.  But Two or three players probably Won't require an assistant GM.

As it happens it looks like my rogue/ranger/duskblade half-drow scoundrel is looking for a new home. Kara-Tur maybe?

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

I haven't heard anything official, but I'd guess that if a PC has been approved for general play and needs a home, then they would easily be allowed in a new region.

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

That is generally true, yes.

Not for selfish reasons, though of course I'd be thrilled if it worked out, Thay has recently found itself without a DM.  There is a good group of PCs in that region that need a new home if you'd be willing to run a region in Thay instead of Kara-Tur, or some of those PCs could move into Kara-Tur if they wanted and you were willing to accept them.  I placed a list of those PCs in the available players thread here in the OOC if you'd like to look it over.

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

Aargh! RPoL was down all day yesterday. I had my posts written for another game, then it went down in a harp. And a completely unrelated computer crash lost what I had written. :(

Though with nothing else to do, it did force me to get through a lot of work I had to do. :|

I've deleted some duplicated posts from the previous OOC thread to get it under size.

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

Greetings all, I’m the newest new guy, I think, and am still getting acclimated to all the interesting stuff that’s here.  I should probably warn everybody up front, I am working off the open source material and my knowledge of the realms is somewhat limited.  I have only played one campaign, and part of another, where I mostly filled in as NPCs for a friend.  Oh, yes, and this might be the deal breaker, I’m completely blind, so if you are a GM that loves maps and pictures, and I completely understand if you do, I won’t be affective in your games, if we happen to play together at any point.  I just wanted to get that out in the open so all the cards are face up on the table.  I look forward to an interesting time here. Thank,

Apoplexies.

PS, if this isn’t the OOC thread I’ll delete this message.

I feel like a kid let loose in a store, it’s a lot of information in one place, nicely consolidated.  There are a lot of options.  I like it a lot.

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

The fact that the open source material has been the only information I have had acces to for while, has probably  something to do with my perspective.  It’s a lot of information, but the fact that you all took the time to put it there says a lot.  I mean, it’s give your player base options, which they might not have otherwise.

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

I concur, that is one aspect - the other is giving DMs without the books a chance to lookup the material their players are using :)

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

Thank you, Apoplexies!  :)  A lot of DMs have worked really hard on all of that, and I'm very grateful to hear that you like it.  We do want to give our players good and varied options, and as DM Raven said, we also like to make sure our DMs aren't overwhelmed by having to locate each and every thing that all their players might select.  We hope the info is beneficial to all and as easy to access as possible.  :)

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

I am fully prepared for the answer to this question be no, so I won’t have a fit, or send anyone multi page hate mails.  With that said, is it possible to Lirk in a game that I’m not in?

Oh, the first part is a bit of a joke, just in case stuff is unclear.

Re: RoA Community Chat Take 4

Welcome to ROA.

Check out the Character Creation threads for important information about creating a character here.  However, don't worry about making a character until you have found a game looking for people.

Most importantly, have fun.

Kara-Tur Repost

Just a quick repost from OOC Take 3. This idea will make or break after Thanksgiving Holidays, so far we only had two folks express interest.  Thanks!

quote:
On the homeworld of Toril, east of Faerûn across the hundreds of miles of open expanse known as the Hordelands, lies a realm of Eastern mystery --- Kara-Tur.
Although it is rare, the wonderous trade of rare goods, extraordinary treasures, and even persons occasionally occurs along the dangerous trade route known as The Golden Way. Other than these rare moments of commerce there is little interaction between the two continents.

However, by the movements of the gods, a bubble of opportunity may open for both native citizen and wayward traveler to explore the places, culture, politics, creatures, magic, religions, and more of the amazing and mysterious Orient. Now is your chance to embrace the world of Kara-Tur....

---------------

I am interested in becoming an RoA DM. We are trying to find out if there is any interest in the reopening of a Kara-Tur Bubble Region.  THIS IS NOT A GAME ADVERTISEMENT, but I am hopeful we can find enough interested players. If you are interested, please let us know by replying in this thread.  If you have friends who may be interested, please pass the word.
