Re: D&D 5e adventure!

If you can't find enough PCs, I'd be happy to give it a try.  But I hate to take a place if there are others who want to play (as much as I do love you and Kilric and would play almost anything to play with you guys).

Count me definitely interested if you don't find many PCs.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

... I like it a lot; but then, as my preferred edition is actually 2nd (at least; before player's option..), I'm part of their major target audience for 5th.

I have a weak spot for BECMI, which likely also likely included in that group.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

Probably, yeah. From what I can tell, they were targeting everyone they lost especially during 4th, which is why they have some 3rd edition concepts in there, but in particular the old-school gamers who didn't drift away from RPing so much as just drift away from DnD. I didn't exactly drift away, but it became a different goal. It became less about the story, and more about the character, for me.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

Ugh.  4e.  The only good thing(s) to come out of that were DnD Adventure board games!  Luckily, there's a new one coming out this spring!  Our family just loves the three DnD games, and for Christmas, Santa brought us the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game.  Love it.  When you don't have time or energy to role-play or when you're in a board game mood but want some RP flavor, they're awesome.  Though we do kinda of role-play our characters and stuff.  DM Annihilator and I are running through the entire box with Kyra and Merisiel (me the latter) as a couple (like in the comic books).  :p

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

Well as you can tell from the original three posts in this thread, it kind of died the first time it was brought up, since Willvr was the only one to respond.

Solo can certainly say otherwise, but I think it's safe to say we are the interested players.

What classes would people want to play?

I'm happy to play whatever. All the classes and races are pretty fun in 5E.

I've been most interested in trying an elven ranger first.  The changes look intriguing.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

Sigh.. what about a Noble(Knight) Dragonborn Sorcer?

For a while I had my brothers copies of both PHB and DMG 5e.  So as an experment I started a Dragonborn as I'm a Dracophile.
I got intrested but when I had a chance I bought the DMG. so would need to look at the basic rules If I wanted to create a new character. other than that.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

I have been curious about a finesse fighter in 5e, but I'm also very intrigued by the magic users.  A cleric wouldn't be a bad thing either.

I could go with either a wizard or Sorcerer or be the group's cleric.  Somehow missed the Sorcerer concept that Freeze mentioned.

So, is this a level 1 campaign you have in mind Solo?

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

One thing to point out; is that class roles aren't quite as necessary. As in, you don't -have- to have a skill monkey, arcanist, meleeist and divine. Not like in 3.5, where it was probably at it's worst.

Yes, start at 1st, use the suggested point buy, and equipment / money according to class / background.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

I'm using a paper copy from the book (also available as a free DL in PDF form from Wizards) which I had planned on moving to the RoA format..  with a couple changes.

Most of the base stats are the same, several of the sections will be slightly different though.  I can try and tweak it before I complete my character and post it somewhere if you all want.

Any idea what Factions would be in this 5th ed. adventuring area?  In my characters case in particularly what knightly orders, and Noble non human groups.

NOT For Now- But While looking over the start up information, for items to give more feel for the North region..  It started me thinking about Regional background overlays, based on what is already there.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

Been trying to come up with how I would replicate Elias for 5e... Really not sure if it would be a Cleric with a non-existent as of yet domain, some sort of Divine origin Sorcerer (not in the book but people online seem to think using draconic as a base and swapping things out for divine spell lists etc seems appropriate) or a Paladin... I guess he fits most into Paladin for now. Probably not able to test out 5e for a good while anyway.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

Would dragonborn have some kind of relationship to dragonkin. A lesser mutation?

Do we have an idea what the environmental adventure type might be; quest travel, settlement defence, court, hew and cry, etc.

P.S. My characters design has been to fit: court, court and settlement investigation, ranged battle, noble quest, Noblesse oblige. only one retainer, a squire, any way able to rough-it [which is no problem to me, but will give fun issues with his Flaw]

edit spelling.. er.. and some exposition

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

5E really is a big fan of 'flavor is up to the PC'. They give the mechanics; you give the fluff.

I'll do something this weekend; frantically busy at work.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

I do have a sheet drawn up, but not in any kind of format ready for RPoL, just a hard copy while working on making a sheet that would work here.  But if there are too many people, I can save it for another time.  It's no problem.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

If I could have a copy of the sheet-- the sheet in the base rules are quite different the 3.5, or seems to be in terms of "attacks", and that background are more crunchy.

Here is a link to the public sheets.  There is a zip file with multiple formats which you can choose.  I'm going to be transferring the information from my sheet once I'm done with it.  I'm hoping to be done soon.

Re: D&D 5e adventure!

It will be a fairly straightforward exploration/dungeon delving adventure based on the published Lost Mine of Phandelver module.
