Re: Game On!

In reply to Errol One-Eye (msg # 718):

Grabbing the mug that Errol pours, he looks at it suspiciously, holds it up and cheers...
"Cheers, here is to good friends, and better treasure. Treasure enough for a God!"
Waits until Errol drinks the first sip, no matter how awkward it might become.

Hauraki picks up the offered drink chuckling and slaps the gnome on the back.  He likewise waits until the gnome drinks, chuckling, nodding and raising the tankard making it obvious what he is waiting for.

Re: Game On!

Errol waits until it becomes awkward, false starts (twice), laughs, then chugs his beer.

Re: Game On!

A pretty young woman in a red and white silk kimono and a long folded-steel pole arm enters with two porcelain bottles of sake. "Happy New Year..." She stops when she sees Glaucon with cheetos in his nose, and Stone and Hauraki nervously watching Errol as he awkwardly drinks his mug of beer.

"Strange customs." She shakes her head, but with a smile on her face, as she pours warm sake for anyone who'd like to toast the new year with her.

Re: Game On!

Happy New Year indeed!

Imre is always willing to try a new custom, and graciously accepts the offer of some sake, which he cautiously tries with a look of curious anticipation dancing in his eyes.

Re: Game On!

Happy New Year, everybody! Later this evening I'll be able to get everybody's game threads fired back up. Can you believe the reboot has already gone a year? I've been busy socializing with the in-laws and parents, but even with good food and family, I can really do without this -14o F junk. That's -25 C for the rest of you. Brr.

Re: Game On!

Chie happily shares her sake with Imre, curious how the half-elf will react to the warm rice wine.

After they enjoy a few cups, she pulls out the karaoke machine and teaches Imre how to sing J-pop.

/It's a balmy 1ºC in Busan this morning, with an expected high of 6º (about 43ºF).

Happy New Year all.  I'm going to have to rub it in.  Enjoying 24oC in Aotearoa at the moment with a light breeze and 67% humidity.  About to go to the beach and get an ice cream.  (That's 75oF for you folk that count the other way.)

I was joking with some of my overseas staff that it's warmer where they are (Ukraine) than where I am (Texas).

Yeah, yeah. I'm gonna have to start counting your experience the other way....   X^P

At least in my neck of the woods the temperature will go up a bit on Sunday, so it could be worse.

Re: Game On!

DMJSC, we're in the same boat here, stuck in that polar air.  Last couple of days have gotten up to -10C or so for the high (colder with wind chill) but well into the -20s at night.  Another colder snap later this week before supposedly getting back closer to normal (between 0 and -5C or so).

One thing - the snow's been nice and fluffy for shovelling!

Re: Game On!

Ditto on the snow and cold. We had a fire sprinkler head burst at work, we think related to the cold since it was in a less heated and insulated shop area. Spent 20 minutes out in the weather waiting for the FD to give the all clear. If it was any longer, we would have retired to Conference Room J. (I.E. the closest bar, named Jersey's).

Oh I thought you already were.  I'm ready to deal.  How about we retrospectively calculated the recent XP level drain the other way. :o)

Oh man, THAT is a great idea for a high level monster! Instead of level drain, it gives you levels when it hits you, but if you go over the maximum level for the rules in question*, you die! Talk about a risk-reward situation for the approaching max level characters! And those at max level (14 in BX, 36 in BECMI, 20 in all WOTC editions, LL, BFRPG) would run screaming in fear...

*might not work so well in OD&D/AD&D which technically have no maximum level unless you're an Assassin, Monk or Druid.

I think you'll find the more argumentative litigious gamers would start angling for divine accession for their characters, but it still takes them out of the game.

Glad you got the heating fixed, can't imaging dealing with -25o in either system without heating.
