Are you implying that the 1st edition AD&D  books aren't the best organized rule books of all time, with everything intuitively laid out and easily found? ; )

It's weird, many people have said the books are disorganised, but I always thought the index was quite intuitive.  Perhaps my way of figuring things just works similar to the authors.

I have the 'OS RPG Tables' app on my phone, which has all the combat, saves, class progression tables.  I'm pretty sure it complies with the OGL, so I hope I won't get in trouble mentioning it.

Well, the index for the PHB is in the DMG. :D

Unless you meant the table of contents in the front of the book...

Thank you Tin Tin, as I was about to post, my players handbook pdf doesn't have an index.
Now I know why.

If you have the Dungeon Masters Guide Blalak the index page numbers in bold signify where the subject is to be found in the Dungeon Master Guide and those in normal text are the page numbers where the subject is to be found in the Players Handbook.  It's beautiful.

I will be heading back to the US for a long vacation, starting in about 36 hours. My parents have internet, but I will be away from the game while traveling.

Also, I apologize for recently checking in but not posting. I'll try to get posts for Wehostan, Gwire and Chie up tonight or tomorrow before I go.

I do, and thanks for telling me that, I have to hit a key command to tell if a text is bolded or not, and wasn't thinking to do that.  I have to do the same, its actually the same key command to hear font type, or any kind of formatting issue, save all caps, and sadly color information is not given.

Well lucky for you colour doesn't feature in either book, so you're not missing out on anything there at least Blalak.

I was thinking of RPOL when I said the color thing, since one game I'm in two players don't use quotation marks but colored text to denote speech... I've had to ask them from time to time what's what.

Thanks, Errol! Today was a crazy day - packing bags, getting documents sorted for my boys to attend school while in the States, getting our cell phone service sorted out ($30 a month for 3gb of global roaming data and telephony service on top of our existing mobile service is worth it!), picking up my older boy from his tennis tournament in the next city over, more bag packing, cleaning, etc.

Now we need to get the boys cleaned up and to bed. We've got an early flight tomorrow. See all you Nemrac folks (and Pingbo Lake folks) in a few days!

I've never found the 1e books to be that disorganized. A bit ranty and Gygaxian, but not disorganized.

My bookshelf, on the other hand, is in a state of pure chaos. My players never put anything back where they found it.

I thought colored text for in character was standard convention.  Some games I've been in have blue for common and use other colors for other languages, usually green for elvish for instance.

As to posting, I'll try to post something, but most times I look in and don't have anything to add, I suppose I could put something like /em Holly lurks every day :D

I lurk a bit too, not very verbose, I post bluntly.

I'm cold enough here near Lake Geneva, WI right now. I can't imagine the wind chill for some of you folks north of me in the States or Canada right now. Stay warm everyone!
