Orphanage Tavern

The orphanage tavern is a brightly lit, cheerful place with happy, pretty serving wenches and even a pleasant and handsome barkeeper.  Nearly any drink found in the realms can be found here as well for the human barkeep, Jon Sheel, has an extensive network of friends and trade.  Jon is the man to see if you are interested in a job found on the notice board just next to the front door inside the tavern.

Re: Orphanage Tavern

The door opened with a frighteningly loud creak. At first, nothing more happened, then at last a small head popped through the gap and looked around uncertainly. Satisfied that it was safe, the rest of the body followed.

The short little gnome with the greyish skin and the furtive rat-like expression crept across the tavern floor, almost unseen by the other patrons. When he got to the bar, he climbed up a stool like it was a ladder, and finally perched on top. He peered over the bar curiously at the drinks on offer.

"Water I will have, if you please." he squeaked.

Re: Orphanage Tavern

A young black haired female human bustles out of the kitchen door wearing a long dress in heraldic colors of green with yellow trim, She has an ivory colored apron around her waist embroidered in green trees and yellow flowers. A reed woven basket on her arm, and a wineskin hanging from a strap across her shoulder.

___She makes a shallow courtesy to the Master of the bar. Sliding the basket and its contents covered by a matching embroidered ivory cloth, farther along her arm she continues her bustling out of the door of the tavern.

Re: Orphanage Tavern

A weathered looking halfling enters the main room, in armor actually having manicales hanging from a shield hook on his back and a sap on his belt opposite a peace-tied shortsword.

He wanders up to the bar grabs a stool at the bar. hoists himself up thumps down a coin more the grey of platinum than silver and Croaks "TAB"

Wandering to a corner he pulls out a folded leather cup fills it and slowly takes a drink.
He sighs. and closes his eyes as he takes another sip.

Re: Orphanage Tavern

The Jarl's Mistress of the Board;
Bustles [her normal mode of movement] up to the table: "Captain Burrfoot how nice to see you, Jarl Archi' had no idea you would be here. If you have news of the Glade He wood love to meet you. If you would have and ale on his hospitality? He was planning to be here shortly." She Made a nod like curtsy, (thinking "I hope all is well") more like among social equals, but to a professional of greater Rank.

Re: Orphanage Tavern

Thomas looked up at the young Mistress, He knew the young shepherd girl from when she came to work at her Uncle's Inn serving the riverfolk that passed on the cargo-and passenger rafts of what the Locals just called the River.
Noting she still carried the heavy hardwood ladle in her belt with which she had served soup and swats to the rowdy raft men with equal vigor.  She had continued there for a time leaving her mark on the place.. and it's patrons.

Until the new Jarl, appeared one day, a beautiful humanoid monster dragon.
The Jarl returned again and again trying the assorted common dishes, asking Missy's opinion on what to try next, pleased with her choices.

Until the Jarl, offered her two deals, the second to the extreme startlement of the Innsfolk.
The First; the rank of Personal Mistress of his Board.
The Second; common marriage, AND Mistress Personal Mistress of the Board.
It had been said the legal term the Quasi magistrate had used was Mistress of Board and Bed.

"He" as it was now clear, offered to let her think on it, details worked out understanding met.  and one night they were married in the inns court yard to not only the Lord but the Jarl-lords half elven dualist dancer, Dame first wife.

Thomas Smiled broadly at the young woman and points at his own pitcher. "I 'ave ma own drink, but wo'ld be glad ta sit 'n da 'ospitality of 'is service.  l'ttle sweetl'n."

Re: Orphanage Tavern

Smiling back; Missy pulls out her ladle uses it to transfer a small portion of his pitcher to the leather cup.  as physical agreement of hospitality.. Then in what almost seemed personal ritual swiftly swatted the top of the Halflings helm sitting on the table beside him.

" Caref'l Master Wat'r Rat; Ma Lard Archi' has spent 'is time 'ere gitt'n invited ta Hunts.  Foxes kill'n chik'ns, Rats raid'n the Corns bins.. Ya mite bett'a be caref'l dey don't t'ink ya' be one'a dem Rats."

Smiling back, just as broadly; she flicks her apron at him and Continues in a more cultured voice; "Drink your Drink, Jarl Archi' should be Right along."

Turning around Missy Jassadaughter wanders off back into the Service area with the pure assumption of a Noble's servants she had better be welcome if they knew what was good for them.

Re: Orphanage Tavern

An elf walks into the bar. He has long hair, feather earrings and buckskin coat over leather armour. "I will have whatever food you have, and a glass of elven wine, over at that table."He points at a table as far away from anyone else as possible, and goes over and sits down.

Re: Orphanage Tavern

Missy peeked her head out, glancing at the door, the table where the Halfling sat, and finally at the new arrival.  Then backed out the door with a wooden tray some kind of tall dish or bowl covered with a clean brown cloth and a black polished wooden goblet.

Curtsying as she comes to the Elf's Table she wears a better grade of common cloth in possible "Colors" of goldenrod and green an ivory colored apron around her waist embroidered in green trees and yellow flowers.. and design also common but more well done then most. then she speaks; "I apologize most of the kitchen is busy gathering the fix'ns for my Lord-Jarl's meal, I do'na wish to see you wait unduly.  If you are not offended Gentle-elf, I might bring you your board, now. "

The young human pulls off the cloth uncovering a trencher, it was a loaf of hard skin bread cut open and filled as a bowl.  The trencher was filled with a savory and thick vegetable stew. The steam of it's heat still rising into the air and carrying rich smells with it.  Placing a finely black wood spoon with some crude carving on the handle a human carver might have thought elvish. Then placing the goblet obviously carved by the same workman, with trees and oddly enough 'hidden way-signs, on the forest path on the table near him."Gentle-elf if ya would please test the bottle, it is freshly opened, or do ya wish me to- no offence meant."

Re: Orphanage Tavern

At this point a red-haired female half-elf entered wearing human style court clothes in a Goldenrod and Green that matched servant with the food.

While the new female was wearing a dress skirt, chemise and vest of Goldenrod and Green; her skirt was cut short, at a diagonal, with loose tan hose underneath.  She was obviously gentle-folk down to the peace tied dueling sword, tied oddly enough with a beaded chain. The belt in the style of a knight but the color of a simple social esquire.
The half elf began to speak "Good day, Deputy Shire-reeve Burrfoot, .." But then sees The dark haired woman serving another table, she pauses in confusion.

The first young lady with the black hair holds up her hand and curtseys, in following her hand twists in some signal then pointed at the Halflings table. The second woman feeling it incumbent not to ignore the person being served at the second table speaks out; "And a Good Day to you as well Elder-folk Woods warden, I.. to my Jarl-knights table am seated, My Lord would be happy of another guest.".  Nodding at the Full blooded Elf and her sister in service she turns back to sit with Tomas Burrfoot.

Faelar notes the same colours in the dress of the half elf and the maid. He assumes the landlord must be subject to this jarl. "I accept your invitation."He turns to the serving girl, smiling."Please bring my food over to that table."He goes over and sits down.

Jarl's Private table

Seeing the full-elf arriving after her invitation, the red-haired half elf rises again gracefully.

Allowing a short courtesy, she speaks:
"If I may introduce myself and companions; I am Dame Seli'callaif of Jenisus Glade Fee; wife & Dame of lord Jarl's Archi'schaels' wardrobe."
Gesturing at the black-haired woman following with the food.  Glancing at the table the Servant chose a spot opposite Dame Selicallaif and next to the Halfling and placed the food and it's service at table.
This is my sister-wife Jarl Archi's Mistress of the Board, called Missy Tia Jassadatter of Manor Hall. This time this Tia Jassa's Daughter, made a more formal courtesy.

  Turning toward the Halfling who is watching this dance of formality with a fascinated expression, he nods his own greeting. She continues;
"This Good Halfling at the board with us is Itinerant Deputy-reeve Tomas Burrfoot, Raft Captain-marshal of the Keelboat Sharks Folly: Is known to our Lord Archi' due to his occasional passage by the Glade and stopping off at BoaDorf Inn. And services as deputy-reeve to the Glades Shire Reeve before my Lord husband took service at Manorhall."
