Knights of Solamnia

Provinces
Vinas Solamnus, the first Grand Master and creator of the Knights of Solamnia was the first and only King of Solamnia. Having liberated the nations that together became known as Solamnia, he made sure that no one would covet that position after him, but that the Knighthood itself would be his legacy.

The Knights of Solamnia are in control of the following areas, though in some places that control is tentative:
Coastlund: Capital – Hargoth. Rulers – MarKenin, Kings of Coastlund. Before the Cataclysm it was known as Borderlund, but the land to the west sank under water in the Cataclysm.
Eastlund: Capital – Kalaman (which is north of the Vingaard in this timeline). Rulers – Dragonword, Kings of Eastlund
Elkholm: Capital - Egaard. Rulers – DiKalumina, Dukes of Elkholm, though technically under the feudal predominance of the Kings of Heartlund.
Gaardlund: Capital – Gaarlus. Rulers – Uth Mackan, Kings of Gaardlund.
Heartlund: Capital – Solanthus. Rulers – DiCaela, Kings of Heartlund.
Nightlund: Capital – Dargaard Keep. Rulers – Soth, Kings of Knightlund (as it was known before the Cataclysm). The Soth line ended in the Cataclysm and has since been a place of perpetual twilight and disease. Since that time it has been under the control of Lord Soth, a Death Knight who in life was the last of that line. Nightlund is now filled with undead and it is a favored place for young knights to go to prove themselves. Many do not return.
Gunthar (Sancrist): Capital – Castle Uth Wistan. Rulers – Uth Wistan, Kings of Gunthar.
Plains of Solamnia: Capital - Relgoth. Rulers - *Not listed*, Kings of ***
Southlund: Capital – Caergoth. Rulers – Peres, Kings of Southlund
Vingaard: Capital – Vingaard Keep. Rulers – Jeoffrey, Kings of Vingaard

Palanthus: A City-state where the Lord of the city is elected to office rather than inheriting it. It is an ally to the knights.

Re: Knights of Solamnia

Ranks
A Noble in Solamnia inherits the land that goes with his title by the blood and not his rank within the Knights of Solamnia. And with that title he becomes the political leader of his area. If he is of high enough rank, the Order will also assign him as military leader of the area. In time of peace, the military leader will take his orders both from the Order and from the political leader, but in time of war he will only take his orders from the Order. The political leader may give suggestions, but the military leader is in command of all military operations.

These are the Ranks of the various Orders of the Knights of Solamnia.

The Grand Master is the Head of the Knights of Solamnia and the body of the Knighthood must come together, in sufficient numbers, to elect either the High Warrior, the High Clerist, or the High Justice to that office.

The other ranks are determined only by the person's time, service, and station within each Order.

Order of the Crown
1. Knight of the Crown
2. Knight Warrior
3. Master of the Crown
4. Lord of the Crown
5. Master Warrior
6. Lord Warrior
7. High Warrior

Order of the Sword
1. Knight of the Sword
2. Knight Clerist
3. Master of the Sword
4. Lord of the Sword
5. Master Clerist
6. Lord Clerist
7. High Clerist

Order of the Rose
1. Knight of the Rose
2. Knight Justice
3. Master of the Rose
4. Lord of the Rose
5. Master Justice
6. Lord Justice
7. High Justice

Re: Knights of Solamnia

A child who wants to become a Knight of Solamnia must be born of the proper lineage, be prepared and ready to join the Order as a Squire at the age of 16, and be found honorable before a Council of Knights. Most squires become knights after four years of service to a knight in good standing. Squires are by definition under the command of their master and The Order of the Crown, in which they are listed as members.

As a Knight of the Crown, he most likely lives where he serves and has authority only over himself. Normally Knights of the Crown progress as follows, with the listed increase in command responsibility, though there are exceptions. As a Knight Warrior, he is responsible for a Troop of 2 knights and 9 men at arms. A Master of the Crown is responsible for a Shield of 3 Troops. A Lord of the Crown is responsible for a Company of 3 Shields and some support personnel. A Master Warrior is in command of a Battalion of 3 or 6 Companies and may have some additional forces too. A Lord Warrior is in command of a Brigade of 3 or 6 Battalions and may have additional forces too. The High Warrior is in command of all Knights and auxiliaries in the Order of the Crown.

As a Knight of the Sword, he most likely lives where he serves and has authority only over himself. Normally Knights of the Sword progress as follows, with the listed increase in command responsibility, though there are exceptions. As a Knight Clerist, he is responsible for a Troop of 2 knights and 9 men at arms. A Master of the Sword is responsible for a Shield of 3 Troops. A Lord of the Sword is responsible for a Company of 3 Shields and some support personnel. A Master Clerist is in command of a Battalion of 3 or 6 Companies and may have some additional forces too. A Lord Clerist is in command of a Brigade of 3 or 6 Battalions and may have additional forces too. The High Clerist is in command of all Knights and auxiliaries in the Order of the Sword. Though in times when there is no High Clerist, the Lord Clerist commanding the Sword Knights at the High Clerist Tower is in command of the Order.

As a Knight of the Rose, he most likely lives where he serves and has authority only over himself. Normally Knights of the Rose progress as follows, with the listed increase in command responsibility, though there are exceptions. As a Knight Justice, he is responsible for a Troop of 2 knights and 9 men at arms. A Master of the Rose is responsible for a Shield of 3 Troops. A Lord of the Rose is responsible for a Company of 3 Shields and some support personnel. A Master Justice is in command of a Battalion of 3 or 6 Companies and may have some additional forces too. A Lord Justice is in command of a Brigade of 3 or 6 Battalions and may have additional forces too. The High Justice is in command of all Knights and auxiliaries in the Order of the Rose.

A Knight in direct command of auxiliaries, generally have three times as many to command, though none, or few, of them are knights.

Any knight of any rank or responsibility may go on quests, imposed either by himself, the Order, or the gods. And there are knights on covert duty.
