Re: Chapter Zero

Nash jumps when he 'hears' Amy's telepathed exclamation, adjusting his glasses afterwards and reminding himself to control his actions. He nods at Billy's question, giving a small smile, "I... I think I would much appreciate that... Though I don't know what kind of song I would have."

He tilts his head in thought as he looks at Billy's eyes, oddly relaxed by the Blissian's gaze. His words come out of him as if he's thinking aloud, "That song for your daughter really is an interesting song when you explain it like that... but... it doesn't exactly make sense to tell someone how to be perfect. That sounds impossible..."

He stops himself as he looks briefly back at the computer screen, suddenly wondering how much time he has left and retracing his steps mentally to recall what he's seen.

Re: Chapter Zero

Elena gently gives Jason the requested hug, giving him a nice long hug as she responds, You can get better and be extra careful to not stress that leg until it's healed. That'll repay me plenty, okay?" She looks at Jason with a gentle smile before pulling away from the hug.

The Blissian pats the casing that his leg is in now, "This may take a while to really harden to the point that it's most effective for keeping your leg still for healing. However, I'm not sure how long we're allowed to use Dr. Hacksaw's facility, so we'll probably have to transport you while the cast is still drying."

Miya actively ignores Hacksaw's leering at her as if he hadn't said anything at all, keeping her stance calm and secure at all times as she maintains her position. This doctor seems strange enough that she's taking every comment of his with a grain of salt.

At Walter's comment, however, she finally responds without giving him a direct glance, "There are dreams, and then there are fantasies... and then there are wishes that only have a place as being burnt by the stars."

Drizzeleaf watches CHAD leave and grins. She nods to Nono and leads the way.

Once at her ship, Driz presents it to Nono. The ship is about half as big as Nono. Drizzeleaf puts her hands on her hips in a proud fashion, standing on the roof of her ship. "Tada!"

It looks like a standard ship, but is painted in Christmasy colors: Green with red highlights.

Hacksaw can't help but wonder. "Awww... what is it you find so unattractive about him?" he asks of Miya.

Jason nods to Elena. "I'll um... how exactly am I going to be transported?"

Hacksaw yells over his shoulder towards the room Elena and Jason are in. "There's a dalli in there! You can borrow it till you get him where you need!" he then turns his attention back to Miya, expecting her answer.

Billy says, "And that's the point, my friend... nobody could live up to such a challenge (being perfect). Many insist they can, but they are wrong. As for what kind of song you would have, I imagine it would have a lot to do with self esteem..."

Amy telepaths, "He's figuring you out, Nash. I can feel it. But if he's a Blissian, I guess he's doing so to try and help you. I dunno."

Billy says, "Well tell you what. How about we meet up again sometime?" he offers Nash a card with some contact info on it. Such as his transmission frequency. "You are busy and I don't want to keep you from your research too long."

Re: Chapter Zero

Joe considered Nono's mention of Mod To Cost Chart as well.  "Well, it's possible they are considering what they will be charging for future modifications now that they have had a more firsthand look a your ride.  You know, in case you want to also modify it so you will survive a collision at the new speeds."

Ah, interstellar ships.  Capable of withstanding firepower that would vaporize buildings, yet most still victims to 'we hit something'.  The ability to sleep while flying through an asteroid field was a luxury, though also one Joe put the effort into.

"Though with both your ship and the situation with Chad seems dealt with, now what you thinking of?"

Re: Chapter Zero

Nono is on cloud nine.  Not only did the Barakian lady say she liked the changes, but he's now face-to-face with a real live fae ship!  If you could compare his expression to Ray's when he noticed the flying sparkling morsel, it would bear a striking resemblance.

"Kupo-ho-ho!" he glees, pumping his fists in excitement, "This is the smallest working ship I've ever seen!  What a masterpiece!"

He affixes a jeweler's lens to his eye and takes a closer look, using tweasers to open the door and such.  He earflicks at Joe's explanation and nods in agreement.

"The aforementioned chart would be how much the parts would cost to upgrade your ship.  Labor is free, though I make a living by keeping the parts I replace for resale or recycle."

He gives a low whistle and pulls away from Drizzel's ship.

"What a remarkable machine!  It would be challenging even for me to work on it.  But if you're willing, I'm already getting some great ideas thanks to the time I've had with that wonderful Barakian ship."

Ray chirrs at the pretty Christmas ship, and shows a little frustration that he's still muzzled.  He ducks his head and fusses some with the strap wrench with his foot.

"Can you take this off, please?" the collar translates.

Re: Chapter Zero

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks," Walter answers Hacksaw with a smirk, "Could be she's playing hard to get.  Or she's just overly modest and doesn't know how to deal with being complimented.  Don't get many compliments in Deksharr Military Academy, I imagine.  Unless she was referring to the hospital idea being burned by the stars.  In which case I'd have to wonder why she's wasting her time on a Blissian doctor.  Nah.  Couldn't be that."

He gives her a pleasant smile.

"Even if I don't belong among the stars, it's worth the risk to admire the beauty.  I'm sure you know how that feels, what with having a Blissian friend and all."

Lucky skews his lips at the exchange.

"Well I'm guessing Jason's going to be O.K." he says, "Given the apparent lack of concern in everyone's voices."

I can operate at a lower efficiency for another 48 hours." he states calmly, leaving out that after 48 hours he'll pass out and a few hours later, die.  "Other than that I am at my optimal condition.".  CHAD follows Sabre along content to have volunteered just enough information to make Sabre think.

Sabre looks back at CHAD with surprise, "Wait, you mean you actually need to eat? As in real food?" He adjusts his sunglasses to better cover his stunned expression, "Wow... Well, I'm sorry about not taking care of that sooner. I have to admit that I didn't even think about your requirements in that area... I just figured it was a area for the mechanics to worry about."

He shakes his head slowly, speaking again to CHAD in an apologetic tone, "I'll see what I can do about getting some food to your quarters immediately upon your arrival back." He can't help but give a sigh, "Of course... a lot of your future will depend upon how you explain yourself to Miss Diamant. I'm not sure if she knows yet or not, but we can't keep your actions a secret to her, and she'll want an explanation."

As they walk, the Diamant ship comes fully into view. Several opossum guards in suits can be seen waiting around the outside, and Jacqueline's unmistakable red suit can be seen in the midst of them, talking to the security officer.

They're clearly awaiting the arrival of CHAD and Sabre.

Nash's large ears lower at Billy's astute comment about his self-esteem, but he nods, unable to deny it.

He's a Blissian, so I don't feel AS bad about him figuring me out... Though I'm starting to feel kind of guilty about lying... I'll have to tell him my name some time, probably... Wait! What do you mean 'I dunno'? That... that's never a good thing to hear from you...

As the worry passes through his mind, he receives the business card from Billy, taking it and looking it over. He gives the Blissian a slow nod after reading the card, "S-sure... That'd be great. I still have some work to do here... I mean, things I want to figure out and learn about..." He nods again, "... It was nice to meet you, Billy."

Re: Chapter Zero

Elena smiles at Hacksaw's comment, looking at Jason brightly, "There we are! We can use that to get you home or some other place that you know is safe. Once we get you there, I can get you some proper crutches, maybe a wheel chair, and then you can tell me about some of the other people living in this settlement that need me. I remember that you told me you knew of a place that really needs medical care."

As she talks, she locates the dalli that Hacksaw mentioned, wheeling it over to Jason.

Back out by the door, Miya gives Dr. Hacksaw a cold look at his questioning, "What I find attractive or unattractive is none of your concern, doctor. I don't have time for a tail-chaser."

She nods in confirmation to Lucky's question before she turns her eyes briefly to Walter, "You have nothing to offer me that I could ever want."

Shortly after this exchange, Elena calls Miya and Walter in to help move Jason to the dalli.

Drizzeleaf smiles brightly, proud of her ship. She nodnods with her eyes close. "Sure! You can get to work right away. Have fun!" this is any fae's motto. So regardless of what Nono does to Drizz's ship, as long as he doesn't make it boring or completely inoperative, Drizzeleaf will likely love it.

Hacksaw laughs at Miya. "Fair enough." after all, he doesn't tell people HIS personal business.

Jason is easily moved. He's an average guy and with both Miya and Walter helping him onto the dalli, it's a rather simple matter.

Hacksaw says, "Actually, ma'am, if you're interested, I can give you a list of patients I simpley could not help. Maybe you can succeed where I could not."

With that, Hacksaw goes to his file room. Jason looks at Elena and nods, "Uh sure... I will be happy to tell you what I can."

Billy says, "Nice meeting you also." he reaches to place a hand on Nash's right shoulder. If he's slightly familiar with the Blissian lore, he would know that is the Blissian greeting and goodbye. Billy turns to leave.

Amy telepaths, "Don't let my lack of knowledge worry you, Nash. He just has a very fortified mind. Either through technology or naturally, I can't tell." If it's on purpose, Amy can't exactly blame him. There's bound to be other telepaths on the settlement. And Blissians are highly protective of their technology ever since they learned the hard way that sharing technology secrets with outsiders has nasty consequences.

Joe ignores Ray's request at the moment, considering you wouldn't really believe 'Okay, I promise I won't try to eat them this time' not even five minutes later can be a little hard to believe.

"So, just what things did you plan on explaining?" Joe asks T'Shock as they follow after.  Hey, he said he'd go along with this, and his player learned an important lesson in a different board about ending up solo for legitimate IC logic reasons.

Dieing or being annoyed together is more entertaining than being safely alone.

"Kupo-po-po!" Nono exclaims, spinning around.

Having been given permission, he gets to tinkering immediately.

"Ray.  No.  Learn to control yourself.  It stays on 'til you're far from our fae friend."

Ray pouts.

"Will be there with bells on, my beautiful Barakian buddy!" Nono answers T'Shock, eyes still fixed on the tiny ship he's working on.

He taps his com.

"Cid.  I'm gunna need a pickup."

"Crashed the Barakian's ship, did you? Sid answers, "On my way to the... oh right, this place doesn't have a hospital."

Nono rolls his eyes.  "You know where I am.  The ship's fine.  And she LIKED the upgrades, thankyouverymuch."

Cid isn't that shocked.  Barakians have a reputation for not admitting mistakes.  And allowing Nono free reign over a new ship design is a mistake.

"You're welcome!"

Walter chuckles in reply to Miya's latest statement, and simply helps with the dali when asked by Elena.  He leans over and whispers to Elena with a smirk, "She sure lives up to the harsh Deksharr reputation.  Can't take a compliment.  Not one thank-you, heh."

Lucky sighs after Walter exits.  "Thanks for your patience with my associate.  I hired him as a guide, but apparently tact isn't his strong suit.  By the way.  Have you and Elena already located a place to stay?  I get the feeling like she's going to work herself ragged on the first day.  I'd feel better knowing she had a place to rest."

As CHAD and Sabre get closer, the opossum nods at the explanation, seeming to have calmed down a little, "Huh... a doctor? For some reason, I figured we would just use a ship mechanic if someone went wrong with you. But, looking at you now, that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense."

When they finally arrive at the Diamant ship, Sabre gives a salute, which the other security officers return. Jacqueline walks down, her eyes looking none too pleased.  She looks at Sabre quickly, "We'll talk in a moment." Calmly, she turns back to CHAD, "Chad? I think you and I need to speak in private while you tell me exactly what's been going on. I've heard a number of things, so I'll be expecting you to help sort out the truths."

With that, Miss Diamant, turns on her heel and heads for the inside of the ship's cargo bay, beckoning CHAD to follow. She doesn't look like she's keen on wasting any time.

Nash does know enough about Blissian tradition to recognize the sign of goodbye, though he's unsure if he should return it. At the very least, he does nod his head respectfully, wishing Billy well.

Nash nods absently at Amy's response to his fears, turning himself back to his research for now. His thoughts are actually quiet for once, as he keeps replaying what Billy's said to him and also retaining the data that he's viewing.

At the moment, doing as much research and reading as possible seems to be the most intelligent thing for him to do.

At Hacksaw's offer, Elena's face brightens up and she nods readily, "Oh! You'd really do that for us? That'd be great! Thanks so much, doctor!

She smiles thankfully at Jason's cooperation, working with Walter to get him on the dalli comfortably, "You can remember after you've rested for a little bit, okay? I don't want you straining yourself, and, from the sound of what the doctor has, I'll have plenty to do while you're resting."

Walter's comment makes her raise an eyebrow at first, but she giggles good-naturedly at his meaning, giving a nod of agreement. "She's sweet, really! You just have to be polite and spend some time with her and you'll see."

On the other side of the door, Miya sighs lightly, nodding in agreement with Lucky. At his question, she gives him a brief look before responding, "We don't have a set location yet, no. I believe we were planning to transport somewhere safe once we rest... though I really don't know when she intends to do that."
