Anauroch: The Black Scorpions
23 Elient, 1375, early morning before dawn
As Glim Leads you east, the Black Road stretches before you like an endless, inky ribbon, and the pale sands seem to cast an eerie glow in the pre-dawn light. You know from your previous travels, that you will move at a good pace for about a day, before turning toward the south.
The sun rises, and the red orb on the horizon before you soon becomes a brilliant yellow-white hammer beating you down against the unforgiving desert landscape. It is about mid-morning when Glim guides you off the road a short way. Ha'laam begins setting up a pair of large canvas lean-tos to provide shade for both the people and the horses during the noon rest-time. The camels seem relatively unaffected, and are content to kneel in the sand, with legs folded beneath. As Lanka disembarks Zadda Blimth, the cantankerous beast tries to nip her with large yellowed teeth.
Glim sees to his horse, then sits cross-legged in the shade. In his typical terse manner, he tells you that once the sun is halfway down the sky in the afternoon you will be traveling for several more hours into the evening.
