Re: Encounter XP awards

Thanks Lyn,

---

I'll just keep the 5000gp in the interdimensional gold bank, since I don't have enough gold to buy that particular ring or when I decide to buy something else.  Will that do, I don't have to 'tithe' it yes?

DM Lady Fate:
In the case are 6 cure moderate potions caster level 3rd, 3 vials of bless weapon oil, and 3 potions of neutralize poison

So how do we split these among us? Would Aelynia want to donate some to charity?

Lysande:
Wow! I wish I could draw half as good as you! Great work.

And I wish I could make those 3D-models even half as good as you!  :p  I gave it another try a week or so ago, but got too frustrated with my own lack of progress. . .  :|

Question for the DM:  How long time did it take us to travel to the City of Shade?  Assuming it was more than two days, Joseph will be cured of his poison, meaning I can finally remove that penalty to his Strength.  :p

Lysande:
I just realized Lysande also carries some group treasure:

Rapier +1 (warning), 6 arrows +1 (+1d6 fire dam),

Would it be okay if Joseph took those arrows?  He's mainly a melee warrior, but he can do some decent damage with his bow, and I figure those might help him out if we have to get into a ranged skirmish again.

Alister had mentioned he wanted some too. Since I got a number of special arrows for Lysande, I leave it to the two of you.

I really need to find out how Lysande can make her own magic arrows...

I think I already fired one of those fire arrows...  That leaves us with 5pcs.  I'll keep the 2pcs. and Joseph can have the other 3pcs.  Deal?

Travel time prior to reaching Shade, from the bandit hideout was seven days, so if you want to use up to seven day units for crafting or what not, go for it.

Sorry guys, I'm a bit sick at the moment and swamped with yardwork (springtime hey), so I might not be able to write as much and as frequent as usual.

Can anyone ask the bard to take a look at the map and identify the script?

would anyone want the bard into the party?  I think we could use a spellcaster, but then again the party could tackle most problems with brute power.  I'm just a little worried without arcane support.

Re: Encounter XP awards

Um... *giggles* Lysande is a mage. And ranger and paragon ;-)

Though she has spells of level 2 only, she casts them with level 7 power (Practiced Spellcaster feat and paragon levels). Also she got a wand of fireballs, it has only  a few charges but it should help against more numerous opponents.

Lys is 2 levels away from 3rd level spells. Initially I had wanted to go for Eldritch Knight but since Abjurant Champion is allowed now, I would rather go for that and take Eldritch Knight after that.

Together with DM Grimclaw Lysande was going to take one of the hatchling sphinxes as a cohort but I don't think this is sensible anymore. I'd like to switch out the Leadership feat for Combat Casting (prerequisite for Abj.Champ.). If that is ok with you DM Lady Fate.

Re: Encounter XP awards

Here's my idea about Aelynia's charity donations...those potions could be very important for the survival of her friends.  Not only does Aelynia care deeply for all three of her friends, but she also is able to defeat greater evils and gain greature treasure with which to help people because of her three friends.  So that kind of thing she wouldn't worry about overmuch.  But she'd definately ask for a portion of all money found, as well as money received from the sale of items.  This money she would want to give directly to those who need it or to the purchase of healing potions to distribute among people who need it.  As a last resort, she'd give money to local priests/priestesses to distribute among their peoples, etc.  Sound okay to the three of you and you, DM?

Hehe, well, Joseph really isn't in it for the gold, so he wouldn't mind Aelynia giving away her share like that.  :p  He'd ideally like to save up some, though, if possible, as a retirement-fund of sorts.  Just something to make sure that when it's time to settle down and produce cute half-elven babies with a certain monk, they'll have at least a little bit left over.  :-)

Lysande:
Lysande frowned in displeasure "What? Is he too simple of mind to answer a question correctly? Should have expected as much from a half-breed." The sun elf  sounded cold when she said "You did not answer my question. Apart from that, I doubt we can ride 12 hours. Given the heat of the midday sun we will need to take a break for the hottest part of the day. I should think it will be acceptible to begin travel a few hours before sunrise, stop while it is too hot, then continue a few hours before and after dark. Based on this information, will you be able to give an estimate? If not, just say so. I will try to make my own estimate then."

Your GM operates under the common principle that things in quotation marks indicate spoken words. If it is thought you are trying to convey, do not enclose thoughts in quotation marks as thoughts cannot be quoted unless shared with others.

If you wish to replay the scene, I will delete the effects of the scene.

Re: Encounter XP awards

Please define common principle. I have played on rpol for roughly 5 years and I still play in games that have been going for 4 years. I've played in RoA for 3+ years and DMed in this place for a little less. In 80% of all games I've played in italics are used for thoughts, colors are used for speech, bold colors for shouting and italics+colors for whispering. Some DMs reserve specific colors, ie. orange as it looks like PLs, or require specific colors for specific languages. None has ever required me (or other players) to post thoughts without quotes. Thus I daresay that it is not common principle to post thoughts without quotation marks in the places I have played on rpol. As English is only my second language I cannot say if expressing thoughts in (English) literature is done without quotation marks, as a common principle.

Let me say that I find your choice of words in your last post condescending, when I read them on this side of the internet. I am grown up (ask my kids) and have "a modicrum of intelligence", I have admitted making a mistake that caused some confusion. I am sorry for that. But why does it have to lead to changing the general way we post?

Please let me point out that I am not intending to start a meuteny, just wondering what got you so upset.

I would like to scrap the scene that escalated and just forget about it.

Re: Encounter XP awards

Common Principle Definiton: per the rules of punctuation and proper writing as defined by the standard English classes, as defined by the encyclopedia with regards to use of puncuation marks, as per the college standards, as per the E. Strunk and White Guide to Proper Writing.

RPOL, for me is not standard. It's a medium where I can get my gaming fix. My writing standards are defined by other mediums.

Re: Encounter XP awards

You may find my tone condescending, it isn't meant to be but I find trying to figure out what people mean in a posting confusing if they are not subscribing to the same writing rules I understand.

RPOL has no set rules for talking/speaking/etc etc. RPOL says the GM sets the tone for the moderation of the game and what is acceptable or not. I wasn't aware there were any items considered standard by others for representing speaking and thinking.

I started using RPOL about a month ago and during that month I have GM 6 games and have only played in three and in none of the games has anyone set down a standard definition for agreed upon terms in denoting thoughts/speech.

I'm truly sorry if you found my words condescending, posting on the internet doesn't allow for kinetic language to soften the words, however your perception and mine are different.

I didn't mean to offend you as I clearly have done so. You are free to find another GM if you desire or we can have the senior GMs give Anauroch to someone else if you prefer. Either way is fine with me and neither result will offend me. I'd rather hand off the game to someone rather than ruin a gaming experience since role playing needs every gamer it can get.

Just let me know.

Per Lysande's wishes after discussion, the scene between Lysande and Rix has been deleted and reset. If the game continues, your gm's ready. I'll be checking posts daily as is my norm. PM me if you have any thing you need to say (i.e. as in a conversation that's likely to get heated and is better kept private.).

Ready when you are.

Re: Encounter XP awards

Well, communication is a strange thing, what you say does not necessarily have to be what I understand. Especially with the internet and its range spanning the world. While a simple "O" circle formed with thumb and first digit in Germany would mean "Excellent!" the same circle in Italy means "Asshole!" If I say "Ship" your mind may produce a clipper while mine shows me a container ship, so even while we use the same terms, they are open to interpretation. If we all understand that language without facial expressions and tone can be easily misunderstood, we will end up a happy family (or so is my belief).

I made a mistake not being precise enough with my posting, I appologized. Your answer left enough room to be misinterpreted, and you said sorry. We're both grown ups and want to go on. Case closed.

Besides: I would never put my own feelings above the rest of the group, I'd rather have left than forcing you out of the driver's seat. And I do accept the DM's rulings, as you might have noticed I didn't object to you reducing the number of spell storing arrows, even though I would have been entitled to the full value of items. This is not a complaint, just confirming I can be a good girl, too ;-)

To summarize this in the undying words of one of RoA's founders, DM Mike: All is good! :-)
