Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

Hello,

I guess we will be playing together soon. I have been playing D&D for about 3 years now. I used to play the Baulder's Gates series to try to get some playing, but I like playing with people instead of the computer.

That's all for now.

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

I see that alot of you have already responded to the ROA wide role call that is going on over in ROA OOC. If any of you have not responded to this yet, please do so. It makes things a lot easier for DM Mike to keep track of.

I've come to find out that some people stop checking the OOC forum after they get into games. Please continue to check this forum as long as you are with us. That is where we make any important anouncements pertaining to ROA and we would hate for someone to miss out.

Ok now that the administrative stuff is out of the way. I want to hear form you guys on what every one thinks so far. I know the pace slowed there for a while, but I hope to be picking that up. We also have two new players joining in the next day or so. Is there anything anybody wants and is there anything anybody doesn't want. Feed back helps the game to grow and I am more than open to it.

Thanks DM Capn_Chord

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

Heyo!

Though I'm only a month into the online game world, I have been tabletop gaming for 15 years now (and my mom said it was a faze.  She also said The Simpsons was a fad.)

Already I run two other games under the name Inn Keeper.  That's also what I do for a living in RL.  I also run two tabletop campaigns.

A little secret: I've not actually played DnD in about 10 years so forgive my occasional 2nd ed. Reference :)

I have a cat.  Her name is PJ (after PJ Harvey).

Looks like you're playing a barbarian.  Do you have a fast means of transportation, such as a horse or a camel?

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

Welcome Mungo!  Are your other games D&D 3.5 as well? I like this latest incarnation much more than 2ed since it seems character development, mechanics-wise, is much more flexible than "the way we used to do it" (a phrase uttered all too often by the old-school group I play with IRL).  In any case, so far I think this game is going well.  The characters have definitely settled into very interesting, and appropriate personalities.  Feel free to let me know if Vikko Quickstep annoys you. Then I'll know I'm playing him correctly!

Capn,  as I said above, I think the game is going as well as I had hoped.  Traipsing across a barren desert does not usually lend itself to constant excitement (nor should it), but it is up to us the players to find ways to make it interesting. Right now,  I do not have any suggestions, but I do have a minor question...regarding skill checks, should I go ahead and make a roll anytime I feel its appropriate? OR should I wait for your prompt?  You may have gone over this before, but I can't remember.

Thanks!

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

A belated welcome to all, from Khazar the Rider (your party cleric and water carrier).

I hope that you enjoy the game.  Don't mind Vikko, it is just that phase all Gnomes go through, called life  :)

Glim is right, you do need a mount if possible, my pack horse can only carry so much. Vikko's camel is a kindly sort, you might be able to work something out there.

See you all soon.

Only one of my games is DnD, but it does use 3.0/.5  I use GURPS for my other games.  I'm not afraid of change.  But I did purposly make a statistically simple character to help me adjust.

Yep, got a horse.  I'm hoping its acclimated to the desert.

On another note.  I was really pleased when I found that rpol has the I Claudius characters as portrates you can choose from.  I just got done watching the series for the first time this week and Claudius is part of my inspiration for Mungo.

Man!  Yall are hosing me on volume.  Been building a somewhat complicated character for the last few days, cutting down the number of times I check in each day.  Hopefully it'll be easier to keep up and play a better straight-man role to the comedy.

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

A quick adventure question Capn, did you say we were able to come up with a couple of doses of Antidote from the dead scorpions?

Van Halen, however...they're just a bunch of whipper-snappers.  I'm more into the Platters and the Kingsmen.

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

15 years ago, I working with a young man in his 20s that had never heard of Three Dog Night.  He knew of some of their songs, just did not know the artist.

I heard Three Dog Night live back in 1971 in New Orleans.  That was back in the good ole Pink Floyd days (Dark Side of the Moon, a couple of years later).

Enjoy your trip.

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

Well Vikko, you were able to harvest the venom form the scorpions tail which is the base ingredient for the antitoxin. The only thing is you do not have an alchemy lab handy at the moment, or the other materials needed. You are capable of making it under the right circumstances (craft alchemy roll dc 25), but at this time you have not. Now that the group knows where the lair is you could go back to the Oasis and make some, but that would take time. Just food for thought.

It would take a roll of 25 or higher, 1 weeks worth of time, and 166 gp per antitoxin.

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

Err, that is definitely not worth the trip, seeing as I'd need a very high roll to be successful.

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

Just figured that I would mention this here since it was brought to my attention. The group is splitting up for a short time and for this I would normally assign everyone to different groups. However in the special group that ROA is I cannot do that because the different groups is how we seperate the regions. If I add you all to group two, you'll be posting with the waterdeep bunch and that could get real confusing. So for the time being the game thread may get a little cluttered with PM posts. Please bear with me. I hope to get the next scene up tonight or tomorrow. I'll be honest I'm very tired and not feeling real creative. So I think I'll take a nap and post when I wake up.

Re: Anauroch: OOC Forum

Sorry to do it again guys, but I will be gone friday and saturday. I've got another concert to go to. After that I will be back in full swing. I would like to finish up this adventure this month and get us on to something else.

I will also try to get xp out there. I know I'm a few weeks behind on that.
