Re: Time to move out

Seeing he is useless to the UAZ, he goes back to the wounded pole. Gallin will accept the scotman hand, and make sure the wounds are at least dressed proper on the pole. After that, unless the Pole speaks, he'll have nothing more to do with him.

Gallin will ride in the back with his patients if need be, but at the mention of horses, his ears perk up and a smile crosses his face. "I miss riding, a great deal." he think to himself. "Maybe when this war is over, and things get back to normal..." he shakes his head, as seeing that could be a ways off.

Sergio will also see if there are other medi-kits avaliable.

If there are, he'll ask for his back, it's a one man medi-kit and his...

If not, he'll take a few things not currently needed and let the medic keep it!

Still silent and listening and attaining a pecking order of the group

Infection control

As I've mentioned to some of you previously, infection is a major danger. Sucessful first aid prevents the infection of wounds and most characters are carryinging at least light injuries.
Perhaps the remaining injured should seek medical aid? (hint, hint)

Another issue is that of transportation. The UAZ can only carry a total of 5 people. There are only 8 horses. There is a total of 15 of you (including the prisoner).

Number reduction.

Dimitar slides the hatchet out of his belt loop and stands in front of the pole, slightly behind Gallin's right shoulder.

Staring directly at the pole, he turns the hatchet slowly in his hand, showing the man both sides of the blade.

To avoid causing too much of a stir amongst these people he does not know so well, he desists after a few moments and goes back to watching the surrounding countryside.

Seems to me we have an issue

Lt. Colonel Nelson sir, it seems we've got an issue of numbers. I figure the Pole over yonder dug his own hole. I recommend we leave him stabilized and bandaged, but leave him behind. I'm not much for killing prisoners.

Otherwise, we ought to find the two lightest and they can double up on one of the horses, if our numbers are too great. I'm not for leaving any allied wounded behind. If that's a problem, I'll let the rest of you proceed on horseback and in the jeep and I'll strike out overland. That'll fix the numbers problem.

I'm not real keen to do that, but the wounded need the ride more than I do.

Kett makes sure his C7 is loaded, has one in the chamber, and a grenade in the GL. If he has any wounds other than a bit of rope burn, he gets Mike to look them over . If we need to disinfect, Mike can siphon off a wee bit of ethanol from the tank, cut it with some water, and use a 50/50 mix on a clean cloth. No sense anyone risking infection.

Keep watch and try to get oriented (directionwise) so that if Gary ends up walking, he knows which way he's headed.

Re: Preparation

NPC'd
LT Col Alfred Nelson, UK SAS. Besides the usual combat skills, I am a fair Forward Observer, parachutist, and driver. I can speak the Kings english and a small amount of Lithuanian.
Lets get loaded up and out of here. I want the prisoner bandaged up and given some water. We'll leave him over by the side of the road over there.

He scans the group around him. Sgt Tanya and Lt Camilla, looks like you'll be doubling up on horseback. Leave as much equipment on the UAZ as you can spare to save the horse.
Don, you're driving with the wounded and Sgt Gallin. Sgt Major Corrigan, you got shotgun. Keep them safe.
The rest of us will ride. I want Sgt Guido and Major D'ammond to ride out as scouts if you will. Lets keep well spaced and alert.
I want everybody to be on the lookout for opportunities to acquire food and fuel. We don't want to have to ditch the UAZ a few miles down the road and I certainly don't like the taste of boot leather.
Sgt, Major,
Alfred says, nodding towards Dave and Sergio, lead us south east. Don't want to run into any trouble if we can avoid it.

Mount up!

Cam wanders over to Gallin to have him tend her wounds once she returns with the horses.
Using Dave as an interpreter, she introduces herself and her skills. Leutenant Camilla Ashton, Danish Froemandskorpset (equivilant of US navy SEALs).
(OOC: See her background description for details).
Once everybody is ready and all the newly aquired stores loaded, she assists any novice riders to mount before mounting herself in front of Tanya. (This allows Tanya to fire her RPK if necessary on the move - not ideal but better than nothing.)

Four legged beasties

Gary will gamely try to figure out this whole 'horse' thing. Watch what the others do and get some pointers. Try to mount up and make sure I'm stirrup'd and that I have both hands on the reigns or pommel. I expect the horse to do bad things if scared, and I'm more worried about being thrown than being able to do anything hostile while aboard. Have my rifle slung on my back.

These things don't seem to come with a gear shift. And I'm kind of afraid to try the accelerator.... the steering seems to have a mind of its own.... nice horsie....

He will make sure the stuff in the back of the UAz is packed so that if it falls, it won't damage his patients. I'm Sgt michael Gallin, US Medical Corps, i'm pretty good with a rifle and other than that, I'm a farmer. I speak perfect polish and Yankee english. (American)

Riding out.

After checking that the saddle girth is securely buckled and the bit is sitting correctly in the horse's mouth, Dimitar sets one foot in the stirrup and manages to pull himself up onto the saddle.

Making himself comfortable and soothing the horse with a few murmurmed words and a gentle stroke, he turns to the others. "I am Dimitar Nikolov.  Bulgarian Regular Army.  I used to be tank driver and gunner.  T-72.", he said.

Looking around at the group, he smiles uncertainly.

Lets just see what happens.  South East is not the way to America, it is the way back to Bulgaria.  It is too late to leave now.

Re: Riding out.

Its easy, if you fall just make sure your clear and dont get caught in the stirup or you will be dragged along under the hooves as the panicked horse bolts, nothing to worry about ;)
and about the prisoner we can cut off his legs and feed them to him, if that doesnt make him talk, he will be well fed for a few days

Interogation (3) 8 - fail, he will be eating well.
