Bernhard follows around the corner, C7 shouldered safety flicked off, ready for anything they find. Hearing Tanya's command, Finnegan shouts in his best Russian,"Weapons down! Hands up!"

"Seems to be a friendly over there," Virgil reported. "Weapons have been lowered and they're all greeting eachother like long lost lovers."
At 150 metres, even the high powered scope on his rifle couldn't quite pick out who the newcomers were, faces plastered with camoflage and dirt as they were.

Re: Sweet dreams

The expanded team moves off into the houses disappearing from sight. Only Winters, Don, Sergio, Gallin, Virgil and Brown remain in and around the house.
At this time, Winters is on duty in one of the vehicles while Sergio and Virgil are upstairs in sniping positions. Don has just woken and asked Michelle for painkillers (so I assume she'd close by him). Brown is anywhere he wishes to be at this time (although most likely cleaning up after breakfast - somebodies got to do it and repack the stores into the vehicles).

"I tell tu what, is like before. Still, on roof, looking to snipe." He thinks back to past missions, it was quite amazing how the training each of them had had was so interfaceable.

"And our number bigger, means less food? We have idea for next step?" He says, trying to strike up conversation, whilst keeping eyes peeled. Talking without eye contact was a skill he'd learnt.

Like others, his mind drifted back to the pregnant girl report. He may have helped in that, but as far as he was concerned, he had his own team and girl to protect now. Choices had to be made and whilst he liked the relaxation he could get around Michelle, it was always short lived and, well against his training. To be responsible for anyone more then yourself could lead to a danger to both charges, still things were different now.

Re: Sweet dreams

Brown had come to an empty kitchen. No idea where everyone had gone he had made himself a decent breakfast to strengthen before the day ahead. After that he had taken it upon him to tidy up a little, getting their stores arranged.

Now he was moving the first loads from the house back to the vehicles. If they ever wanted to start moving again this stuff needed to be in those vehicles as quick as possible. He suspected the rest were on some sort of patrol after what happened tonight. Better make sure they were able to bail out of this town soon after they returned.

Looking down at Don, Sergio attempts humour, "It is true, that face looks like its been damaged enough, still if you no have much to start with." He sits and pats Don gently.

"What we need is a drink" he looks around, wondering where they could find such golden elixir.

Don looks at Sergio. At first as if he had never seen him before. Then he smiles.

Spot on, frenchie. Something to drink... A clear Dalwhinnie, a fruity Glen Ord. Or a raw Talisker, tasting of saltwater, smoke and seagull-shit.

Don goes away in dreams. Opening his eyes again he looks disappointed.

Hell, stir some mud into a glass of fuel for me. Hey Doc, that should do magic with my headache, right? Hehe, owww.. .

Hmm, painkillers..... Doesn't look like there's anything beyond a few personal medikits (bandage and one unit of antibiotic) and a few tranquilizer auto injectors.

Brown looked over his shoulder while walking out the door, already on his 4th trip from the house to the vehicles, loading up the equipment.

Cradling his M249 in his arms Aaron slowly took in his surroundings. Guard duty was the most boring thing know to man, ok well maybe second only to some 9-5 office job. Glancing down he checked once again to make sure that the weapon was loaded, locked and cocked. No need to get caught unprepared in the event he had to use her.

True the vehicle had it’s own weapon, and it was more powerful most likely, but Aaron was better with and more comfortable with the 249.

Re: Sweet dreams

OOC: Cross-posted in the case that all threads were meant to be merged. Likely subject to GM editting. ^.^

Frustrated by the lack of change, the lack of difference made by their efforts, Camilla kept pace with the team.  There appeared to be no sign of their attackers..  Washed away by the rain that still fell while they tended their wounds the night before?..   Most old villages barely had a ditch system, let alone large piped sewer network.  But if there were old tunnels set up pre-Cold War or otherwise.. They would likely only be accessible inside the buildings themselves..

If there was resistance in the village, which might have spurred the tragic event that cleansed this place, they must have been well entrenched. It was possible that locating such hiding holes would take some time.. Time they didn’t have, and as the morning progressed, she wondered what the next night would bring if they had to suffer another moment within these hollow dwellings.

Still she kept an eye out for tracks in the mud, where mud could be found.. Though only on the sides of their passing, due to the amount of people that were trudging along ahead of her position.  Maybe she didn’t find anything because of the division of her attention..  Scanning the roof-tops and watching their backs as they snaked along.

Whatever the outcome, her anxiety grew as the team made it back to the dwelling that held their new-found friends.. And she waited for the Major’s exchange that would call out those within and hopefully take them back to the main camp..  A few steps in the direction of getting out of here.

As she paused, sad eyes sought Tanya’s studying the sergeant. The psychologist in her wanted to help her friend through what happened, but she also knew that there must be some time allowed between.  The trick was not letting too much time pass.. It was a fine line.

Back to watching her corner, truthfully, there was still a raw ache to the side of her head.. And the dried blood itched beneath the helmet stinging slightly with the sweat.  The wound was as fresh in the mind as it was in the physical sense.. And the death of the young girl only added to her muddled emotions. Fighting for freedom in her own country, she had seen people die.  -Even saw the results of assaults gone wrong.. Attached to the German division later  did not diminish such horrors.  But when uniformed people were killing uniformed people it seemed strangely different. As if there was some sort of line between the two. Maybe it was her own disturbingly naïve perception that was at fault, but she felt it was almost harder dealing with killing people who did not wear uniforms, not at the time, but after.

Re: Sweet dreams

Glad to see the others back, Sergio greets each with a smile and stays set in his position. "Take a rest and give us an update, I'll keep an eye out still so you can rest proper without needing to worry" He says, having had it easy so far. He was used to staying or moving, but moving on his own. Looking after others whilst on the move was a skill he'd never mastered and so had progressed through the other ranks, going for solo missions more than team work.

Losses from people once close to you was hard to bear. The situations around him reminded him of this. This Don guy was alive, but there was worry. It was bad enough getting through this when fully able, and Sergio considered himself more able than others. If only he had no reason to stay, he could go on and try and get home.

Re: Sweet dreams

Bernhard follows the rest of the recon team on the remainder of their sweep. He keeps alert on the way, watching the rooftops and any openings in the buildings for any sign of danger. He is relieved when they get back to the newcomer's hideout and the challenge and response are given, and heartened when they return to their own encampment and he sees the progress that is being made in loading all their gear. He makes brief introductions between the two groups, then gives the order to finish packing and eating so they can be on their way to Krakow. As far as Bernhard is concerned, they can't leave this place soon enough.

"I suppose this is neither the time or place, but I've got a bottle of liquor and I would like to share a drink with you all and toast to the bad fortune of your sniper last night."

Re: Sweet dreams

As Camilla came to the building that had served as their temporary retreat for the night, she caught sight of Brown toiling away diligently and bobbed her head..  She had many regrets concerning the tiny hamlet that they had found..  Some whimsy, and others more grave..  Perhaps the most enticing prospect, was being able to wash some of the clothes..  She’d switched out uniforms some time back after they got a second set, but still.. Not possible now..

“Much Good Brown, how soon we can go?..”, Her tone was tired, and the Danish Lieutenant reached up absently to brush the side of her helmet where the bolt had gone through. She would drop right into line and help where needed, though dim blue eyes seemed to stray toward the others curiously.  In Tanya’s case it was concern, and possibly so with Smith as well.

Ever on the go, it appeared, but this time -as with the others, it was potentially life or death. At the very least, Ashton would collect up the things that she had found for use and for barter stowing them where allowed. The action gave her a a few moments to regard the clothing Tanya had helped her to find in the process. Expression ever thoughtful.
