Michelle and Don

Michelle has walked away from the group with Don following. She appears to be heading for the school with it's bodies and biohazard signs...

Re: Michelle and Don

Michelle holds up her hand as DOn follows, her. "The biohazards in there are old enough that they won't effect you unless you disturb the bodies overly much. I'm going to go see if there is stuff in the chemistry lab to make medical supplies and such." She doesn't sem to mind he has followed her, but doesn't show any signs of stopping either.

Re: Michelle and Don

"Well, you are the 'doc-iest' of us, so I guess you know best. Just say if I can help you with anything. Well, if you want 'something special' I would suggest a completely different house than this."

Don smiles a little, even if he knows that this joke was rather close to be over the top.

He puts a thumbs-up high in the air toward the rest of the gang while he is following Michelle.

Re: Michelle and Don

The school is not a huge distance form the vehicles - five minutes of walking get you there with little effort.
As seen before (or reported to those who did not visit earlier) the school is a fairly small complex with the body filled hall off to one side. Unfortunately for you the chemistry labs are in the same building...
Wolbrom thread:
Investigating the school hall gives the biggest clue as to what happened here. Several hundred decayed bodies are laid out in row upon row. If you had been there six months previously, the stench would have been impossible to withstand, but now most the bodies are little more than bones. A tattered biohazard sign tacked on another exterior door flutters in the wind, barely held by a tarnished thumb tack in one corner.

[Private to Donnachaidh (2nd Lt): As you arrive at the school you notice movement. Somebody just sprinted from the cover of one building to another. From the glimpse you had of them, they seemed to be shoddily dressed and carrying very little - you did not notice any large weapons although they could have something about pistol of knife sized concealed on them.]

Re: Michelle and Don

"Hey, stop there, can we help you?", Don shouts in Polish in the direction where they disappears.

He starts to trot to get a better look, keeping away from corners where someone can hide.

Re: Michelle and Don

Michells shrugs. "Probably the same little snit Sergio and I caught in the back alleyway earlier. No threat at the moment, probably just someone trying to survive, although why they chose this place is a curiosity I want to know more about. If they can survive here, it proves the Biohazard is gone. Either that or they can't read." She looks to the shadows and corners, waiting patiently for the shadowy person to slip up. Avoiding the hallway with the bodies, she begins to walk quietly further down the hall, towards where the lab might be.

Re: Michelle and Don

"Oh, I see. Well, I hate to see that it is children of some of the deads. Shouldn't we at least protect our breathing? When they are rotting, isn't there a risk that something nasty gets into the air?"

When he enters, and a few times in the house, Don makes a crosssign over his chest. He tries to breath through his uniform to at least protect himself from SOME germs.

Michells nods and pulls out a rag. ."We probably should test the air in here. Not that I really care, but you seem to. Almost wish I'd have brought the chem sniffer. Check for any lingering bad effects. Unless you want to run back and get it?" It seems as though Michells has slipped into a point of almost non caring what happens to her, and her voice seems a bit duller than it usually is

Re: Michelle and Don

OOC: Both of you carry gas masks. Should be more than sufficient to prevent inhaling any airborne biologicals although direct skin contact might still be some small problem. The drawback with gas masks is that the do tend to restrict your field of vision somewhat.
8 chemsuits are carried aboard the two vehicles also (Military issue, olive green similar to the bright orange suits used in civilian organisations (but using your gas masks instead of the full face mask + oxygen cylinders).

IC: Essentially ignoring the potential threat from whoever it was Don spotted, you move on into the building. While protected from the worst of the weather there are still some signs of damage caused by the elements - broken windows, water damage, etc.
The chemistry lab is found in short order. It only takes looking through the glass panel found in most doors to find it. Inside the classroom, the glass in the windows has been smashed in, probably by a violent winter storm. Dried leaves pile up in the corners, a few spiders weave their webs. Most of the storage cupboards located around the walls are still closed.
In the rear wall of the room is a closed door possbily leading to the chemical prep room - there is where all the really dangerous chemicals are stored out of reach of students until needed.
[Private to GM: 10 total. 4 lay in ambush just outside the lab door. 3 outside the windows and 3 more at the other prep room door. The pair are surrounded.]

"Nah, I trust you to keep me alive. I just hope that none of the things in here has reacted after all this time. I hope our noses will help us. Or do you think I should get the mechanical nose?"

Michelle shakes her head. "I'm betting anything that was in here is dead or dormant by now. Otherwise our little friend, who seems to know thier way around, would be dead somewhere. And we have our masks if we need them." Seeing the storage cupboard doors still closed, she smiles. "Maybe now we might have just a bit of luck, and find some workable stuff. If not workable then at least tradable."

Re: Michelle and Don

Michelle can't help but laugh a little at that that one. She sighs. "There are some things I have almost given up on wanting." She quickly turns her face back away, feeling she had definitely overstepped her bound on that one. "Yeah...um, Charcoal,  Chlorine, for water purification. Anything useful to make antibiotics would be a big bonus. Sulfur trioxide, if you put it in with the fuel, it can increase the effeciency. Nitrosil Chloride will do the same thing on aircraft gasoline.  But I'm more looking for things to make meds and any other stuff that might be handy."

[Private to Nuked: Personally, I'm really good at making booby traps and chemical  traps. Medical compounds is a big zero for me. Any ideas on what Michelle would know could help.]

"Well, I guess I could try helping you read some of the labels, even if chemical names isn't what I've learnt, unless there is alcohol in one of the bottles. THAT I suppose I would recognise"

Don helps out looking through the labels after something that might be useful. That means, something Michelle has been mentioning.

Re: Michelle and Don

The array of chemicals stored in the prep room is disapointing. Anything obviously medically useful is gone, probably used up when the plague or whatever had swept through killing all those people now stacked up in the gymnasium. A few jars and bottle remain that are identified as weak acids, alkalli and the usual bit and peices remembered from school chemistry class all those years ago (decades for Don). The most useful items are the equipment itself. Petrie dishes, flasks, vials, and so on. Although some has been broken, probably by animals scampering about after entering through the smashed windows, a good amount remains servicable. Transporting it back to the vehicles could be a problem though - glass tends to break easily.

OOC: Neither of you has chemistry skill so good luck finding the good stuff. Even a little Combat Engineering skill might be useful (improvised explosive compounds) but nothing there either. Too bad... ;)

NPC'd (he's sick)
"What do you want to take and how should we carry it?"
Don as usual was travelling light. Only his webbing and weapon beyond the gasmask and a few other small miscellaneous items.
"You could take your shirt off and load it up like a sack." The grin on his face showed how much fun he thought that could be.

Re: Michelle and Don

Michelle shakes her head. "There is almost nothing left worth taking. And moving it without breaking it and letting the chemicals combine is a risk not worth taking in my opinion. So, once again, luck bites us in the ass. I am sooo sick of traveling." At the mention of her shirt, she looks down and smiles. "I'm sure you would like that. Hell, I might even like it too. You never know."

Re: Michelle and Don

Don actually looks surprised for a moment, then he smiles. With his right foot, he pushes the door shut.

"If you'll take it off. I'll make sure you like it", he says with a big, playful smile. Clearly trying to make out what she is actually thinking about. How much of what she is saying that is actually serious.

Re: Michelle and Don

The smile in Michelles eyes is playfully mischievious, but reaching her hand down to her shirt, she stops. "On second thought, a biohazard area is probably not the best place to be stripping down. I'd prefer someplace a bit cleaner, or at least not Marked Biohazaed."
