Re: Fire

Ladies and Gentlemen, please remember that there is a building behind you that is threatening to very quickly turn into a blazing inferno. The sucess of your assumed identities relies very heavily on your actions in response to this.

PLEASE REFLECT THIS SITUATION IN YOUR POSTS OR YOU WILL ATTRACT UNWANTED ATTENTION!

Also, I would like everybody to post before I do, just so I can get a more accurate feel of what everybody is doing. I understand we all have lives and cannot always log in but please try. If you are not doing anything substantailly different to you previous post, just a couple of words to show that will suffice.

Awant to comment on how it's going or where the game might lead?

Garbage Dump

There is NO garbage evident near where you are. If you look at the game map, you are presently located near the gate of the barbed wire compound and heading east. Also, there is absolutely NO danger from the fire to other buildings so any actions that play on that premise are doomed to instant failure.

Re: Garbage Dump

Not really sure what the plan is at this point. If the soldiers leave it seems we could steal a few horses and ride off into the sunset. Or alternatively we could set the horses free with a sharp slap to the flanks (or a sharp poke from a knife) and see if we can create a gradual trail of confusion and distraction heading eastward.

Re: Garbage Dump

"WERE DOOMED sirs" followed by a salute

As I understand it
- We make a break for it we are likely to be gunned down in crossing arcs of fire, and will be hunted down if we make it.
- We attempt to take out a gun pit we are likely to be gunned down in crossing arcs of fire, and will be hunted down if we make it.
- Further fires will be suspicious and we are likely to be gunned down in crossing arcs of fire, and will be hunted down if we make it.
- Go through the drains and make for the exit which is covered by guns and we are likely to be gunned down in crossing arcs of fire, and will be hunted down if we make it.
- We try racing off on the horses we are likely to be gunned down in crossing arcs of fire, and will be hunted down if we make it.
- Releasing the horses and then chasing after them until we are out of site may work but we are most probably have to run past a gun pit and likely to be gunned down in crossing arcs of fire, and will be hunted down if we make it.

Is there a common element here? ;)
Any ideas
Do the drains go the other way?

Website

I've just created a group at yahoo where I will post all the maps, handouts, pics, etc. just go to Game Info and click on the link.

I have sent invites to those of you who I have the email addresses for but the rest of you, just apply to join and I'll add you as soon as possibile.

Re drains: they are just the typical gutters that you can find next to any road in most parts of the world. There is at least one PK MG sited to cover down the gutter in either direction.

There is a good chance of escaping form here as long as you don't do anything really stupid. Any plan with a reasonable chance of sucess......
But, please don't forget that these are on the whole, very experienced soldiers - some of them may have even fought on the chinese front before the nukes, so don't take them as push overs.

Posting

Come on people, get posting. I don't care too much about ranks etc. just post what you think your character should or would do and if that doesn't mess with what the plan is......

I know some of you have other r/l issues, etc. but I would appreciate a quick one liner here if you can't post for a few days. I noticed that nobody has even logged on since the 4th besides me. I can't play for you, although I don't mind NPCing your character (very) occasionally.

Re: Posting

If referring to my latest post, Don has no intention of killing anyone at all, so bombing the MG-nests is of no priority at all to him. Don wants to get into civilized neighborhoods and make a request for letting the prisoners go. He has no capability whatsoever to help all the prisoners without the help from the Red Cross or a friendly force of some kind.

The reason he steps away is to make you all stop thinking in those terms, and instead getting away, without getting killed. Then we have a nice strole back to our own troops.

Hmm, maybe some of it should be put IC but I guess you know what I mean.

Being a player I also want to get things moving, we've been stuck here for several months without anyone taking command of the situation.

I was hoping to battle my civilian way of solving things against the military ones, but without military command, Don most certainly will take command instead.

I think I need to restate the global situation. The world is essentailly in a state of anarchy with all organisations in total chaos. Governments (what little there is left of them) are only in control of the area that their troops are presently encamped upon. The Red Cross disolved in the early months of 1998, totally unable to cope with the massive amounts of casualties from both the initial nuclear exchanges and then the raging outbreaks of plagues and starvation. Any aid workers that survived the nuclear strikes were far too busy surviving themselves to even contemplate helping others.

The nearest comfirmed friendly forces that are not either captured or surounded were last reported to be several hundred kilometres away and in no position to come to the aid of the US 5th ID (your unit). The NATO offensive stalled and was then (actually still happening) pushed back by the completely unexpected Warsaw Pact counter offensive.

You are presently in a position of tremendous danger and this will not change for quite some time, depending on your actions and direction of travel. The only area that is believed to not be in Pact control (at least up till your capture) is towards the south - the direction in which the Divisional commander had ordered the attempted breakout. Every other direction for what can be presumed to be at least 100km is crawling with both Polish and Soviet troops.

Directly south from this point is a forest that could offer some protection and concealment but the Polish 6th Cavalry, of whom you are presently "guests", has been tasked to flush out and capture any US stragglers.

It wasn't directed at you Don, you didn't get the private message, I was just refering that every step seems to be along a carefully constructed path and any altercation will most probable cause death or serious casualties.

Re: Posting

Can I suggest that we take along tack & harness for a horse each, & head east using the surrounding terrain to mask our present for as long as possible before heading towards the paddocks where the horses are. If we are challenged we can say we were ordered to do a patrol of the area to ensure that the fire doesn't attract undue attention to the companies current position.

Nuked you also mentioned natural depressions in the ground that were in the fields. Which fields are these, the ones the horses are in or the fields heading towards the forest?

Re: Posting

Before I post the orders in the game thread, was there somewhere visible in the paddocks there the horses are normally saddled or does this happen down here near the barn so you don't have to lug all the equipment you need to the paddocks?

Nothing obvious stands out but you could ask yourselves why is there a lot more stalls in the warehouse than horses and why are there all these saddles, etc in there.

Re: Posting

Probably they have been heavily assaulted so most of their horses are dead.

Since this is OOC, is anyone interested in actually trying to free the prisoners? Since the Red Cross doesn't exist any more, and we probably can't get any military help this deep behind enemy lines, we probably need to get back here later to help them out. In any case I guess we need to get ourselves all together, away from here.

Re: playing

Don't lose sight of the fact that these troops only moved in here recently when they overran the remnants of the 5th. The Cavalry of the 5th was only here for a few days before that.

Since the overrun there hasn't been any large scale battles that we are aware of in this area meaning minimal loses, so all these extra stalls have been constructed to house most if not all this units horses, perhaps they intend this place as their winter Cantonment?

AK-MP3

http://www.news.com.au/common/...36%255E13762,00.html

MP3 players for AK-47s
February 9, 2004

A BRITISH-based company is selling MP3 players which can be attached to an assault rifle.

The "AK-MP3" player is built into the ammunition clip of a Kalashnikov and can be swapped with the real magazine.

The device is being advertised on the internet by a Buckinghamshire-based company set up by a group of Russian businessmen who sell audio books.

It comes with enough storage space to hold 3000 audio books or 9000 songs.

Former Russian rock star Andrey Koltakov, a partner in the dotcom company offering the AK-MP3 for sale, said: "This is our bit for world peace - hopefully, from now on many militants and terrorists will use their AK-47s to listen to music and audio books."

The accessory costs $480 or $965 with hundreds of audio books loaded on to it.

Those marketing it say the stainless steel body makes it "uniquely suitable for outdoors".
