Update

There are now 6 Polish soldiers in the hall either dead or unconscious in addition to an unconscious cook. the hall has three doors in the east wall, one of which leads into the kitchen. There is double doors in the northern wall and, now that you have time to look there is a door in the southern wall at the western end beside the stage.

In the main hall are approximately 100 canvas stretcher beds arranged in four neat rows. Most have a pack and some miscellaneous personal items either under it or at the end. Also to be found are 4 AK-74's each with 4 full 30 round magazines, 1 AKR submachinegun with 4 full 30 round magazines, 1 RPK-74 automatic rifle with 6 full 40 round magazines, 1 PK machinegun with no ammunition, 6 bayonets to fit AK's, assorted kitchen knives, 18 Fragmentation grenades, 1 Basic tool kit, 1 small arms tool kit, 1 pair of binoculars, 3 sets of IR goggles without batteries, 12 gas masks, 12 steel helmets, 3 flack jackets, 3 personal medical kits, 9 sets of combat webbing, dozens of packs, sleeping bags, Polish combat uniforms (enough of various sizes to fit everybody), 6 pairs of boots (well worn), and finally, 3 flashlights.

There is also various personal items such as books and magazines (in Polish, German and Russian), photos of family and friends, keys to houses probably long since destroyed, toothbrushes, combs, razors, (resharpened a few times so far), etc.

Re: Update

Since there seems to be a few items surplus I'll put my hand up for a bayonnete and a Medi Kit.
Also, since I apear to be the strongest, load up another pack with surplus Ammo etc. I'll lug it about until needed, I can drop it whenever we see action.

Re: Update

The two doors in the east wall lead to areas that have been claimed by more senior soldiers. There is still no evidence of ranks above Sierzant (Sergeant) however. The contents of the rooms are similar to the main hall - there is nothing here that you haven't already got, and no weapons, ammunition, etc...

Except, after a few minutes searching, a map of the general area (see your typical atlas or road map). You are located in the village of Zdunska Wola. There are other papers identifying this unit as a detachment from the Polish 11th Border Guard Brigade.

The commander of the detachment is identified as Kapitan Grochawalski and the unit strength is 125 men, all cavalry. The detachments mission is to seek out and capture the remnants of the 5th US Infanrty Division, specifically the 256th Brigade that was overrun on the 16th of July.

Another document is recovered - an intelligence report that had been issued by 5thID on 12JUN00 at 0545 hrs. This details the locations of enemy units throughout Poland and neigbouring regions. Unfortunately, this information is woefully outdated in light of recent events. (send me your email address and I'll give you a copy of both the map and Intel report).

The door to the south, beside the stage, leads to a combined toilet and shower area. The Poles have rigged up wood fired hot water heaters outside and plumbed into the existing pipes.

AND THE TOILETS FLUSH TOO!!!! Shame there's no toilet paper.

Re: Update

A quick search of the kitchen finds about 175kgs of food. Unfortunately, all but 20 kg is presently cooking and unsuitable for transport with you.

Re: Food

Everybody has the first decent meal (amount wise anyway) in almost a week. The remaining portable food (uncooked vegetables, cans, etc.) is divided up - 2.5kgs of domestic food each.

Re: Food

After everyone had finished pack, Lt. Col. Nelson called all those present with the exception of the sentries around to discuss the next phase of their plan. "Ok peoples listen up, we are going to split into two group Tanya, Andy, Richard & Don in one. The major will be your commanding officer. The others are with me. The Major's group will act as if they they are taking Tanya for some fun over to one of the outlaying buildings. The other group is going to prepare a surprise for the next group that comes into his building. Everyone, I need a grenade from each of you. Cam is to set a booby trap at the front door. The others in my group will start a fire in the kitchen to get people across here. We will follow you after all has been accomplished using the same tactic, but using Cam as the rabbit. So you all have your missions let's get to it."

The effect would be better if the ladies fought us on the way over but not so much that the Poles feel a need to lend a hand.

"Sir, if you don't mind me saying so, the plan stinks. What do we do with the packs. We haven't observed any of the Poles carrying theirs and there seems to be a pack here for every cot."

"Also, Cam and Tanya's rifles and webbing. They aren't going to look much like prisoners if they are carrying them and nobody else out there appears to be carrying two sets."

Re: the plan

"Good point Sergeant Major, in all the rush we did overlook that one minor detail. Ok listen up this is the new plan. Tanya & Cam I need you to set a fire in the kitchen that will explode. I need you two (pointing to Mal & Andy )to dress eight Poles into our clothing & place them into the cells, & remember to lock the doors to them on your way back. After the fire is burning well we are all going to run out of the building, with Don shouting Fire in Polish. We are then going East along the road to where the rubbish tip should be located, & work our way along any ditch we may find for the rest of the day. We will then discuss where we go from there."

Re: the plan

Make sure the Cook is back in his kitchen, if this goes pear shaped we are in for a world of pain. Put the extra guard in there as well.
The Poles have to think we are dead, if they realise that we bludgeoned their comrades to death in their sleep and didn't die ourselves they will never stop hunting us.

Re: the plan

The plan slowly comes together. The bodies are dressed and arranged, the cells locked, the stove sabotaged and extra fuel splashed about. An extra fire is set in the cells to help spread the flames.

Finally all is ready and everybody is in place. The stove explodes with a tremendous BOOM, spraying burning alcohol all around the kitchen. The flames lick hungrily at the fuel splashed about and spreads fast. Within a few minutes the first cries can be heard outside.
