"The letters may be a clue, or they may not be. This room is doesn't look to be the one where the attack took place. I propose we keep looking for clues as we go. This tower doesn't face the water where the kitty fell in, so it can't be the room we are seeking. Bring the letters if you want, and when we get a chance later we can research the relevance of the letters."

"I agree" she said standing.  She pocketed many of the letters and other papers and put them in her backpack.  "Another door?"

"Yes, I believe so. Lead on."

 she gave lilbug a slap on the rump.

He gave a surprised yipe, and then turned to look at his beloved Lady, grinning joyfully and wiggling his rump, appreciating Her playful smack.  In spite of the danger this place surely posed, his Lady's affection and confidence in him melted away any worries he'd been harbouring.

"As You command, Mistress," he almost danced to the nearest door and prepared to try it.

"How about this one?"

Sparrow smiled faintly. "It seems to me we should try them all, and so it matters little in what order, does it?"

"Yes, try that one. Let's see where it goes."

 She nodded and waited for her slave to continue... or for someone else to try the door.

Taking a deep breath, lilbug tried the door to see if it would open, squinching his eyes shut and praying to Padros that he didn't get blown up in the process.

"Here I go my Lady, Padros protect us all!"

The door opens to darkness...

Peering into the darkness, lilbug looked at Lady Xi and Sparrow and Crow and his Mistress quizzically, then lifted the small scarab necklace he wore and whispered:

"Padros, let your loyal and obedient follower see what is hidden.  Show us the way, oh Lord of Servants."

OOC: lilbug casts LIGHT on his necklace.

 What does everyone do?

Cautiously lilbug enters the next room holding up his light and peering around.

Lilbug enters the room...

 "What do you see pet?"

 She stepped through the door after her slaveboy.

Xi was placing letters and documents into her backpack to go through later as the others continued on.  after a moment or so she stood up and put her backpack on and hefted her weapons "Wait for me...I am coming" She moved to follow.

 Xi steps through the door...

Motoko immediately followed after the others into the next room.

Crow wondered about the letters from twenty years ago.  Did something like that really happen that long ago?  Was this the true reason why the mage of this tower was killed?

He pondered Xi's hypothesis that men were sent after the mage due to his prior romantic connection with the late woman.  If that were the case... why now?  After so many years, why now?

No... the motive had to have been more recent.  Perhaps someone discovered some secret behind this just recently.

"Eh?" Crow immediately snapped out of his pondering when he realized that everyone was going into the next room.  He immediately went after them.

 Everyone steps into darkness that even magic light does nothing against. Their feet slip out from under them and they start sliding down and down a long twisty chute in complete darkness falling for what seems a long time before ending up one at a time, starting with lilbug to land in a heap at the bottom. There is a faint light glowing from the distant walls, a very dim green hint of light.

 ...water drips into a puddle or pool off in the distance.

((Hello? Anybody?))

The poor pleasure slave is dumped, unceremoniously on the floor at the base of the chute.  Groaning from the pain, he starts to get up, but then is knocked back to the ground as his Mistress lands atop him.  The wind knocked from him, he winces and looks up between her legs and manages a smile.

"At least I make a fine cushion, Mistress," he quips, trying to get his strength back.

Seeing the light in the distance, he stares at it quizzically.  "What do you make of that my Lady?"

bic: "Well...that was .....dignified" she tried to simply stand up after landing and being landed on.  Finally spying the greenish glow "What is that?  and please let it not be some sort of..slime" she pointed at the glow.

 "I think we'd best move before others follow s down! OOOF!"

 She scrabbles up and drags lilbug away from the spot, and helps Xi up as well.

 "Are you ok Xi? It sounds like we're in a cavern or something. Can you see anything? lilbug's light isn't working either."

"'Tis passing odd that we can see light from that wall over there - a fungus perhaps - and not from our own lights. Let me try." She delves into the arcane knowledge she has somehow acquired with her transformation, and tries to bring forth magical light.

OOC: trying to cast a Light spell.

 She tries the light spell but it doesn't work either.

"Well... not much else we can do except take a closer look," Crow shrugged after getting up off the ground.  His eyes fixated on the glowing light, he walked closer to see if he could identify the source.
