Wonder what an Avesti/Brother adherent would be like. Standing astride the two doctrines .... protecting the faitful, travelling the Known Worlds, mutilating heretics and stopping the common man encountering the Dark or succumbing to it.

Bummer - thought aliens weren't allowed for some reason .... I love Hironem ... every other character I have in tabletop is a Hironem! lol

As it turns out it won't be a Hironem, due to the fact that the Garrison forbids Hironem onto Stigmata for certain reasons. So no Hironem and no Vorox. Other aliens are fine.

Aw, thats even more of a bummer! Was looking forward to playing alongside a Hironem instead of being one!

Ukar sniper would be cool .... or Gannock sniper. Imagine the sick kinds of ammo it'd create.....

An interesting note is that Gannock are immune to Symbiosis, which could potentially make them ideal scouts on Stigmata. Also something that might interest anyone attempting to develop an anti-Symbiosis vaxine for the Garrison.

I'm surprised no one's tried to play an Etyri scout/sharpshooter. They're extremely effective reconnaissance troops.

Hey gang!

I was involved briefly in the first iteration of this game, and I'm back now to do it up right, now that I am older and... well, fatter, maybe, not wiser. ;)

Presently, after taking a look at what's in here at the moment, I am learning towards perhaps an Eskatonic, or a sort of "Leper Knight" concept.  I'm going back and forth on the two at the moment, but if you all have any thoughts or suggestions on what roles might need to be filled or characters you'd like to see, feel free to let me know, I'll consider playing most anything.

I am also willing to write in my character with any other characters who want to.

Anyway, hi. :)

Welcome! "Leper Knight" is an interesting idea. I think you ought to go with whatever inspires you. To my mind, it's all about getting the game going and as an Eskatonic myself, I'd welcome a Brother!

Given that this is Stigmata having several Eskatonics shouldn't be too much of an issue. You could be a "questing" knight rather than a member of the Manifest Light, if you wanted to distinguish yourself. (Please note, regarding what I'm about to say that I know more about Fading Suns' background than I do about the actual rules/system.) I believe there is an order of Knights tied to the Eskatonic Order, but it seems to me to be an interesting concept to play an Eskatonic, who is simply a knight while being a Brother simultaneously.

Fuzion, I know you're new to this system and the setting and story, but feel free to toss around any character ideas you have here. There are currently no Fading Suns experts among us other than myself (all of the active players here are just as new to FS as you are), so no need to feel outmatched. :)

I'm always happy to help and I'm sure the other players would be willing to pitch in as well. Following are some guidelines to help steer your brainstorming:

1. You are a member of the Stigmata Garrison - the Imperial military force battling against the alien Symbiots on the planet Stigmata. Consider this context when creating your character.

2. The Stigmata Garrison consists of the remnants of the Imperial legions, the Scions of Zhal (a legion of elite warrior-monks and priests), and the Manifest Light legion (a special force of psychics and theurgists). Your character will be a soldier or officer of some sort within one of these groups.

3. You can be a human or alien, a fresh grunt or a seasoned veteran, and serve in virtually any military occupation you can think of, whether it be infantry, special forces, some type of support crew, or whatever.

4. This is partially a war story and partially an adventure story. There will be plenty of combat - whether or not you are directly involved in the fighting - and there will also be a good deal of exploration, discovery, and drama. The farther the story progresses, the more focal each of your characters will become in determining the course of events on a large scale.

5. I have posted several Fading Suns links in the Welcome and Resources notices. Refer to these for information about the setting and background of the game.

Thanks for the help! Right now my idea/concept (need to read up on actual FS history before I get past the bare bones idea) is a scraver turned conscript. Came to Stigmata with just the clothes on his back, his wits and a plan to con people out of stuff. Then he got stuck and, when things went to hell, it was either take up a gun and fight or die horribly.

Probably be a seasoned scraver but inexperienced as far as war and combat goes. The point-man sort.
