Re: Mission

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg #1009):

I thought you were talking to Andy, that is, the detachment leader, Master Sniper Andy McRae. If you're referring to the Militia Captain, I never specified what his name was. It seems that's who your post was referring to, so thanks for clearing that up!

Just getting the new player up to speed. As I understand the situation, Rachel is driving with Seth, Kel and Capt. Harding up to the BC Tel building. Andy is staying to talk to the mayor about the airport (YVR) and meeting the sub's captain.

Please let me know if this isn't correct! I can retcon any errors. To clarify who's where, I put PC names in bold at the beginning of the respective sections.

As a RP note, call signs have been posted to the Reference section, as well as your mission outline.

Re: Mission

In reply to Robert Duncan Fox (msg #1012):

Team,

My pleasure!

I switched around Tyler and Fox's posts. Fox was up in the turret of the LAV III in the "TC" (Turret Commander) position. He seemed to get down to talk to the man, then Tyler went over to the driver's window, presumably to talk to Fox. (The LAV III is an APC without windows per se. but the driver is sticking ) I think this makes a little more sense.

The driver is front left of the hull. TC's hatch is on top of the turret on the right.

Anyways, I am cutting everyone some slack so don't worry too much!

Andy,

Totally awesome! That's what it's there for. Everyone should be able to post there.

For that matter, you could also post info on the New West defences there.

Re: Mission

In reply to Seth Joseph Delaney (msg #1018):

Sounds good!

Team,

To clarify:

1) Todd (Kelsey's friend) didn't come with you because he didn't want to be noticeably linked to you.
2) He will meet Kelsey instead in a battery shop near Front St., which is near the sub.
3) I keep forgetting to mention the CBC TV van that's accompanying you. The CBC is like the BBC (technically, the BBC is like the CBC) in that it's government sponsored and not antagonistic. The reporter, Tricia, is happy to help out and won't jeapordise operational security, although as a professional if a (say) a soldier kills someone and it's not obviously justified they will feel the need to investigate and won't help cover it up.

Re: Mission

Team,

My wife and I were married in New Westminster in the gazebo at the rose garden at Queen's Park. As neither of us had had time for breakfast and it was around noon, we stopped at the Timmy's in New West to get a bit to eat. Our reception was in West Van in Horseshoe Bay. Even though I'm a softie at heart and I would like to say it's not a coincidence that these two communities survived, this is per the adventure ("The River"), which was written probably in 1990 or so.

As for Canadian heroes being a little out there, the "Father of Canada" Sir John A. MacDonald (aka "Sir John, Eh?") was a raging alcoholic who once vomited on an opposition member in Parliament. Our PM during WWII (William MacKenzie King)was a bit of a loon, who asked his dead mother advice by talking through his dog. That's how we ran OUR war effort, man!

Hello again

Hello again all. I am glad to be back from an extended absence. I read through what I had missed and was glad to see things moving along nicely.
Expect Gunny to be his grumpy old self again. I think Tony would have the ole' warhorse skipping around with a lolly pop, dancing with Kelsey if i'd stay'd away much longer. <shivers>

See you all in game.

In reply to Robert A. Conklin (msg #1022):

Rick,

Great to have you back!

Ballroom dancing was not out of the question.

The rest of the players may feel free to read Gunny's thread. Assuming he makes it out alive it will all be in his report.

One thing I should point out is that Taras is in command of the Reaction detachment, but Fox, aka "Hotel Six" (who has been brevetted to WO1) is operational commander for the mission in general. This was at Javier's request, who is currently on vacation in the Balkans with his family. He says "hi" to everyone.

As for the sub... I should mention that McRae and Fox are at the windows (outside) at the top on the sail, kind of a running bridge. Also, I moved the sub's location a little more upriver because that's where the working wharfs are, and it's easier to sequester (commercial and private craft are neared the west end).

If anyone needs more explanation of the rather bizarre setup of the New West waterfront, I'll be happy to go into it more!

Re: Hello again

Tony,

Does Rachel using a video camera look at all weird?  I'd have thought that it looked a bit "Big Brother" as it seems like the guys representing the Federal Government turn up and the first thing they do is to start videoing people etc.

My concern is that it might produce a negative reaction amongst many of the people of New West and isn't very subtle.

Or am I worrying about nothing?

Andy.

Re: Hello again

In reply to Seth Joseph Delaney (msg #1024):

I should have clarified that she's trained in surveillance and not being obvious. For that matter, video and cameras are pretty rare so that would be out of ordinary at any rate. It's a trade-off, I think, if people see they may or may not mind depending on their personality, but on the other hand you get an accurate record. Still, two sources of information can be cross-checked.

However, it occurs to me that the media team is filming everything anyways, and it's part of the arrangement they share their footage. So there is another source of information.

Don't sweat it, it's not a problem at this time. Having Andy take the lead is just as well, and he Fox get along well together.

A friend of mine has started a Weird War II game set in Stalingrad
called "Rattenkrieg" and using the Savage Worlds system.

You play Russian soldiers (I assume) fighting the unknown as well as
the invaders.

Phase II

Team,

Your orders were to clear both the intersections of MSR Kingsway and ASR Boundary and MSR Marine Way and ASR Boundary.

There is now confirmation of a group of bandits at MSR Marine Way and ASR Boundary that moved in after you drove through there.

Fox must decide whether to keep to the plan and clear MSR Kinsway to the north and leave the southern group for another time, or somehow do both (either by returning along MSR Marine to clear it then head up ASR Boundary, or come down MSR Kingsway and then swing south down ASR Boundray to MSR Marine.
