Re: OOC4

I've kept one gear dice unused because I didn't know what to use it on. But then I found the animal table! The Padre got him a docile mule with a pack saddle!

Re: OOC4

Tony,   Looks like I have 6 dice.  MOS of 3 on the PER roll and 3 for rank as a corporal.   Looking back through the PMs I don't think that there were actual rolls for promotion. We have been calling him corporal since there were so many NCO in the party so I'll just roll with it.

Rolled 7 against a TN of 10 for gold so I have 175 grams.

Re: OOC4

What's the situation with the team dice?  What do we already have and what do we need? I have 4 dice that I will share but I need to know what table to roll on.

Rank with regards to equipment dice only includes promotions made during character creation. I can't say whether those rolls were skipped or failed. I agree that Corporal (rank 3) seems like a good place to start.

No rolls have been made on team/group equipment yet. Eric and Nick have made their rolls for their own gear, which is separate from team gear as I am counting them as late arrivals. (Same goes for the new PC, Jack MacCready.) I still need to work out Taras' dice (I assume he will allocate them all for shared team use). Mac has 4 dice to allocate to either personal or shared team gear.

I believe the shared team equipment dice pool currently stands at:

Tremblay: 1 die
Abbot: 4 dice
Taras: ?
Kel: ?
Andrews: ?
Mac: ?

No other dice have been earmarked for team equipment so far and no rolls for shared equipment have been made. At this point you need everything including support weapons, food, fuel, ammunition, base equipment (comms, tools, stills, etc.) and of course vehicles.

As for who makes the rolls, I assume you will roll the dice you allocated for personal gear. Then I'll roll for shared team gear depending on what Taras and/or Kel decide on what your team priorities are.

Feels like water under the bridge to me.  Kel has what equipment she has been assigned for many years of play, never had gold.  Do what you need to do, Tony.

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg # 906):

Sounds good to me. I can see that learning a new section of rules (albeit a short one) is a bit of a bother. And unless someone wants to make a suggestion to team leadership, I'll make my recommendation as to how the shared equipment dice are allocated per table. For example, I will allocate at least 3d6 on the Military Vehicle table to try for a LAV-type vehicle, 2d6 on the Support Weapons table for a Carl Gustav, several rolls for comms gear on the Base Equipment table, etc.

Gold will not magically appear for anyone who didn't have it before. Think of it as your PC is finally getting paid. We can even do that in-game.

Thanks,

Tony

Any reason we can't just keep the old LAVin' Spoonful?  I don't think she was damaged in the last armor/tank battle was she?

Sounds good.

Food seems iffy since we seem to get supplied atleast with IMPs.  Maybe 1d6 there for some variety?  Tools definitely, although I’d need to reread & find out what will be available at our new contonment.  Do we need tents, a generator, BBQ grill etc.  Fuel if we do it I’d suggest 2d6 increments.  1d6 on fuel usually ends up with tiny amounts & 3d6 risks ending up with a BUNCH of a lower grade fuel.

Re: OOC4

In reply to Kelsey Sarah Champlain (msg # 912):

Logistics, at least with regards to starting equipment, is a treasured part of T2K. I think doing it this way (to me) reinforces that there is a general scarcity, that at least some times you'll need to think about about what supplies, tools and vehicles you have on hand. (Besides, a certain level of poverty is always to expected in the Canadian army. This ain't the US army here!)

You haven't had the "LAVin' Spoonful" for a long, long, time. It was taken back by regional command a while back. There is still a war with Soviet remnants going on, over on Vancouver Island. (Although it's more of a "sitzkrieg".)

The LAV you have been using is an AVGP Cougar, on loan from the Westies (aka the Royal Westminster Regiment) the local Militia unit based in New Westminster (aka "New West"). It mounts a 76mm cannon (same as the Scorpion/Saladin) instead of a 25mm autocannon, and is based on the smaller Piranha I 6x6 hull, as opposed to the newer Piranha III 8x8 hull. The Cougar hit the T-54 with a 76mm HESH round that knocked out its optics and killed the loader with the spalling effect.

For in-game purposes keep in mind in theory none of the military equipment is your personal property. You could (and, be warned, probably will) be sent on assignments where using a vehicle like a LAV will be difficult or impossible. Be prepared for some shank's mare!

Thanks,

Tony

If it comes to logistics and bookkeeping I am no stranger to that.

This is what I have done for a game that has started

Re: OOC4

I remember a game of Aftermath that was run by a fellow who was an accountant by trade... and it showed. He suddenly announced mid-game that he wanted us to account for every round of ammunition in our possession. Everyone started calculating furiously, apart from the two vets present. We looked at one another and said "One mag in the weapon, spare in a pocket, rest on the truck" and went off to brew coffee!

Ah! At least I never forced my players to do that. I did all the accounting for my players during my Discord game so to make the threshold lower. The glory of excel is that you can calculate each and every bullet and the weight of it. And the spreadsheet does all the calculations for you. Just need to set it up properly first =)

I have, somewhere, a spreadsheet I built for TW2013 that when you plug in your attributes, it spits out all your other derived stats; starvation (which was the hardest to do because I can to teach myself if/then statements for Excel), wounds, fatigue, movements, carry weights, the whole shibang.

Groovy. The new player is getting sorted out after having computer problems. No reason he can't join later if need be.

Personally, I'm finishing up Taras with regards to gear, basing it on his previous load. The same with Mac. Should there be no disaster at work I foresee getting that done tonight.

Logistics is at least a minor part of T2K, at least in my experience. If you want to trust me just to tell you when you're running low on ammunition I guess that can work, if that's what you mean. The idea is not to saddle you with undue bookeeping; after all, I think this is the only time I've asked about this in years of on-and-off play. This is so that I as GM have an idea as to what your resources are going forward. That's not unfair to ask.

Re: OOC4

I do agree that logistics is part of the feel & setting.  You may need a side-quest to go find fuel or tank parts or take a season off to farm some corn so y'all can eat through the winter.  That said, if the GM wants to do most of the tracking & let us know when a shortage is on the verge of being a plot-device, that would keep the game flowing smoothly I think.  And let him potentially fudge some numbers for fun misadventures.

Not that out esteemed referee would do such a thing...

In reply to Eric C. Wright (msg # 922):

Ha ha, I think players in my game know that record-keeping is not my strong suit. So putting record keeping in my hands would probably be a mistake. Knowing me, I would probably decide on a whim if you were low on supplies, ammo, food, fuel, etc. That is, if you didn't want to keep track of everything yourselves.

Otherwise some record keeping on your part does not seem unfair to you players or untrue to the spirit of roleplaying. You are operating in an environment where scarcity is a fact of life and that could be reflected in your RP to some degree.
