Talk to the GM :

Hello, Your friendly and fair GM here.

1: This is my chance to put out a few basic rules and expectations. I am not a rules Junky and may often play a little loose with the rules to advance the story.

2: I prefer characters be more than a set of stats balanced for maximum effect. The statistics are simply a framework to base actions, and formalize abilities and limits of your character. I expect classes, profession, and abilities to be used to enhance the character, and to allow me to make judgment calls, and to determine success or failure of various activities and actions. They are not as important as personality, style, role-play and character development.

3: participation and attendance, One line one quip, or a silent loner setting in his room cleaning his weapons between fight will result in summary execution. If a player contributes to the advancement of the game, or provides me with some entertainment I am more likely to give him more “Air time” than a character that tags along for the fights and the goodies. Give me your best efforts an you will be rewarded with mine. Feel free to suggest plot twists, NPCs  or any item, place or concept you would like to play around with. If  it would not seriously affect the game world fel fee to make up NPCs and control them in your posts. I don’t care if you make up a scene between the hat check girl or the guy in the bar, or a minor crewman on your ship . If you want to play a supporting NPC, or a walk on NPC let me know, f you want to introduce new races, new bits of the world to flesh it out HAVE AT IT. I don’t mind if you add a little flavor to the world. It’s a sign that you’re interested and making an effort to improve the framework I’ve set up.
(( Please Note the GM reserves The right to edit out anything he finds offensive silly or just plain ridiculous.))

 4: Posting in general

I don’t intend everyone to post a novel every day. However, a little extra effort results in a lot more fun for the player and the reader.  A simple description of stance, facial expression, mood or movement adds a lot to the credibility of a character or action. If you picked up a book and read the passage.” John fires his pistol at the lead bad guy” or “John shrugs and says nothing” How many pages of it would you read.

I consider quality of a post to be very important; Grammar, word use and spelling are not a religion to me. However, I would like to see easy to read posts with as few mistakes as possible.

If you post several long lines of speech, break it up a little. Separate the lines into manageable, meaningful sentences and paragraphs on a single thought or subject.. If in doubt recite the post aloud and if out run out of breath before you finish the sentence or passage… that’s a clue you need to break it up with some descriptive “fluff” or have the character take a breath.

Allow the other player to respond to one comment or question before launching into another one. If in doubt, think about how you would carry on a conversation in real life people do not stand and exchange lengthy monologues. They speak in short, sentences allowing for some exchange before moving onto the next subject, unless of course it is an involved explanation, narration or tirade. No one like to set through minutes of endless prattle just to be forced to reply to several to several questions, comments or ideas at once.

6: combat and conflict:

I know this is one of the main points of many games. I enjoy a little pointless violence as much as anyone…or more than some. However, combat, conflict, friction, and infighting should serve the story not be the focus of the entire exercise. Action, conflict and friction are supposed to support or advance a game not be the game. Go play Diablo or Halo if that’s your thing (and no I wont apologize if I hurt your feelings)

If you and another PC have a difference of opinion, a clash of wills, or just a clash of styles…Play it out IC enjoy it and make it part of the game. If you can’t then don’t pout or complain OOC…and don’t ask me to referee a personal dispute over style, or IC comments. I will spank you both and send you to your rooms for a while.

Conflict within a group, friction between personalities is a staple of good story telling. Don’t take it personal. Take t and use it to increase the enjoyment of the experience. Up to the pint it kills my game then I will make voodoo dolls of everyone involved and give them to my Pit bull as a chew toy.

7: trust and cooperation.
As GM my entire focus I on providing entertainment and challenges to the players, I am not out to win. Demonstrate my superior ability, or screw over anyone. I try to be fair and even handed with everyone. If you put your faith in me I will do my best to reward. If you feel I am being unfair PM me. If you think another Player is out of line PM ME, and I will do my best to keep things friendly.

I do not travel a straight line anywhere in my  games, so if something seems pointless or silly wait a little while and it might lead somewhere. If you want to take a tangent off into left field let me know and we’ll work on the details. If you don’t like the way the story or the rulings are going Talk to me directly

8 Hints don’t work…obvious Hints don’t work… I am not psychic. If I miss the hint, wrap it around a brick and throw it at my head.
