Game rules, Storyline, problems Discussion

Here we will discuss, debate and argue points of game related rulings, rules, storyline, and problems within the game. This is not an OOC chat thread but a way for me to get feerback and encouage discussion of important matters within the game.

Re: Game rules, Storyline, problems Discussion

I have recieved so input from a potential player, so I put it to everyone, would a slight bump in starting level. To level 6 be more to the groups liking, as in making it possible to create a character you are happy with, and make building your desired character to your liking.

Re: Game rules, Storyline, problems Discussion

It's really all in the feel you want, which level works.  At level 1 you worry that a housecat will kill your character with a lucky hit, and your skills are so feeble the tough meat shield is almost as good at fixing things as the smart hero mechanic.  At level 3 you worry about stormtroopers doing the same and you can actually tell the difference between players.  At level 10 you are a match for an entire platoon of normal soldiers and when college professors give lectures they discuss the PCs as sterling examples.

Re: Game rules, Storyline, problems Discussion

Officially we have a group of three, enough for me to get you moving. I am announcing a 1000xp bonus for recruiting players.

They must complete RTJ and present a suitable Character as well as participate regularly. Morons and "one line wonders" may result in a dirty look from the GM but no negative XP

Don't forget to stop by the equipment thread and see if any of the bundles listed would be of any interest to you. mission and weapons bundles are issued as needed but their are a few personal bundles that may be useful. everyone ets a pesonal bundle as a welcome to the game gift.

The question becomes, what bundle/s do/es Raul grab? He's a medical doctor, an engineer, and has a decent repair skill. :)

If a telepath doesn't want their thoughts to be heard, can they keep them to themselves?(just incase this wasn't picked up from the OOC)

And to piggy-back on that question, what about non-teeps having their thoughts read? I know that I've been putting some thoughts in italics so the players have an idea of what's running through Raul's here. Its not my intention to have the PCs know what Raul's thinking.

Re: Game rules, Storyline, problems Discussion

The standard on that is they cannot touch your mind unless they use powers.  I mention mine because there is a house rule here about telepathic minds being a little more public by nature...  I suppose that is good to be certain though because of the associated house rule.  It may also be that while you cannot actively receive you can send thoughts by 'making them louder' than normal.

I think it's funny how it has no true function based off of you character's INT score.  Telepath is mostly CHA and Battle Mind is a hodgepodge.  But it is all mental powers... :)

Re: Game rules, Storyline, problems Discussion

CHA is supposed to represent force of personality as well as charm and good looks.

Telepathy is canon to the setting.

According to the ability. T'risa and Leoulin might have difficulty hiding things from one another because they're both Telepaths. In addition, any strong feelings or emotions felt by any PC would be detectable by us, but to read thoughts...well, for that we'd need to have the ability and actively use it.

Re: Game rules, Storyline, problems Discussion

  to clarify....

Telepaths can freely project their thoughts to other telepaths and non telepaths within line of sight. Two "Teeps" can communicate with concentration at considerable distance but they may be overheard by other telepaths. Rigid training since childhood teaches Teeps to use "their inside voice" so the air isn't full of "voices" generally a telepath will only hear voices meant for them though they can eavesdrop if they are so inclined.

Non elepaths can "Think Loud" to get a telepaths attention and that thought and surface emotions attached to it will be picked up within line of sight. there is no way to probe another person without actively overcoming layers of concious and subconcious defenses...Ie use of a power. the free communications are part of what makes our O'maeda freinds a little more expensive to play, and trust me the role play hassles will eventually show themselves.

Is it safe to assume that I'll be getting the medic bundle as a mission bundle? The researcher bundle looks good to me.

I think I might throw an engineer's bundle together to see what you think as well. Lots of hats for my character. :)

Re: Game rules, Storyline, problems Discussion

Every race has it's own...and in private they speak it...In public or mixed company they Speak Avandii..it is a synthetic language created by the O'sahdii who wanted a universal language.

The Use of a racial languages in public is a minor Faux Pas... most people won't say anything but it is a little annoying.

Ohhh In combat, or less than civil, negotiations all bets are off but people wll assue you are up to something.
