Sector Gray Seven

Gray seven is a claustrophobic warren of passage and galleries that once served as a utility and administration area , before it was closed down and stripped during expansions to Scylla Station. For the past ten years it has been open and operational as an enclave for several dozen Technomancers, organizations and associates working tor the local Technomancer community.

The area is wildly chaotic, with shops, small stores, labs, and commercial outlets being crammed into areas not designed for commercial or scientific research. Holosigns, Neon lights, display screens and store front decorations are jammed together in a garish, multicolored hodgepodge bordering on a visual catastrophe.

Stepping out of the Elevators a wall of sound, stuffy air, lights and a crush of people in the open bazaar on the main entry level assaults the group. Devices, weapons, armor and vehicles are advertised and displayed in every imaginable way. and a crowd of what looks to be slumming station personnel military, and dependants are crowded in shopping the stalls and booths for things they might not find elsewhere.

The shop on the map was off the main strand and tucked in between massive atmosphere processors and shield energizer that form part of the stations defenses. a pair of bored looking guards in Terran Fleet Marine uniforms stand by the entrance to the energizers one swatting at a small robot bird flittering around his head.

the sing reads...."If you are browsing Go the hell away...if you buying welcome to Janis Emporium of fine goods.... ring the bell for service.."

Re: Sector Gray Seven

T'risa enjoyed the walk through the masses of people visiting the area. There was a certain amount of pleasure that could be derived just from walking through an area so resplendent with life. The sights, smells and sounds, while not all pleasant and some in fact almost repulsive all told her the story of this place. She let her fingers trail over the surfaces her fingers able to pick up who it was that last rested there, what they were thinking and doing. It was only when she stopped in front of the doorway that she read the sign and rang the bell.

Re: Sector Gray Seven

M'kira looks about enjoying the chaotic mash of shops. The Neon lights, display screens, holosigns all bidding for her attention. Which she gives to the ones that have something to offer that she  might be interested in. "Wow it looks like this place just kind of grew out into a wild sprawl. It might be hard to find the gems but once you do they will likely be well worth the effort."

She also drinks in the people traveling the place. Some no doubt were very interesting, culturally and visually. Others were worth being wary of especially if they had wandering hands looking to steal something. When T'risa rings the bell she keeps a watch so no one gets tempted by thinking they were not alert to who was in their personal space.

"Should be interesting seeing what's inside the store. I look forward to being fitted. It isn't often you get to enjoy state of the art expensive gear."

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Elsbeth seemed more than slightly out of sorts.  Not the most social, or socially adept, of animals, there are new clothes, new personnel and new places to integrate all at once.  She envies M'kira, who appears to be thriving in this environment; for herself, the genetically-engineered Praetorian glanced furtively from about the cramped space.  How could she effectively protect anyone here?  There were just too many distractions and strangers.  It was all just too disconcerting for her.

Sure, there were plenty of exotic things for sale, including some weapons that she had not seen since her extended stay on Enchoa Rhi.  But, seeing those again didn't make Elsbeth feel any more comfortable.  Her left shoulder and ribs twinged involuntarily as she passed along the sprawling line of stalls.

The tall Marine walked rather stiffly, a touch of something protective and yet predatory in her stance.  And she kept her arm tightly looped with Balkiir's with her other hand rested lightly on the pommel of the long blade that the big, blue man next to her had gifted her.  Unsure of their destination, Elsbeth glanced about warily.  "Marshal," the tall, dark-haired soldier prompted rather bluntly, "are you certain that this is the place?"  She looked around the rather meager storefront, seemingly hoping to find both more and less.  Presumably, both at the same time.

S'viim looked around the incongruous labyrinth, trying to make sense of the seemingly purely random pattern of its layout.  It was confusing, and a bit frightening, but it was also most intriguing to the B'shah male who'd never seen anything even remotely similar back on his homeworld.  He looked over to N'ssa and made sure to stay close, just in case, yet still gazing in wonder through his veil at the astonishingly unique sector.
The sign in front of the Janis Emporium did not sound at all inviting to S'viim and he wrinkled his brow in concern.

"T'risa, perhaps we might expect a more um...amiable reception if we made an appointment first?" he offered.

Twitch followed along, his antennae twitching back and forth as they walked. He stayed a little behind the others, observing out of compounded eyes the way that people tended to get away when they saw him. The antennae twitched with mild amusement. It was interesting to see other species and their reactions to things.

If he even heard the comment about a bounty on them, it didn't seem to even spark a question.

Walking near T'risa she pauses  moving to Elsbeth and gently touching her arm. The one that was holding onto pommel of her blade. "It's ok Elsbeth you should try to relax a little tense muscles are slower to react. T'risa is right we should stay alert though in case someone decides to make trouble. We will all look out for each other and I trust you as well as my other companions."

She gives the Praetorian a quick smile then rejoins T'risa eager to go inside and complete at least this part of their shopping expedition. After all the protective gear would certainly help to make them a harder target for anyone foolish enough to start something. "I will go first ok?"

Unless someone objects she rings the bell for service. Going inside while carefully alert if that is needed in order to do so.

Melcor rounded the corner and saw the people he sought gathered outside the Janis Emporium so he quickened his pace to a jog to catch them before they entered. The young Najuhlim was short, but powerfully built and was dressed in rust red fatigues with CASAR insignia and a heavy pistol holstered at his right hip.
"Marshall T'Risa K'mahda," he called in a deep, resonant voice to gain their attention as he approached, lowering his voice as he came closer. "Greetings Marshall, I'm Melcor. I've been assigned to your team by CASAR tech support."

Stopping M'kira nods slightly speaking softly. "Very well T'risa." She looks at Melcor curious as to how far his tech support skills went. If he had the right certifications he could work on powered armor, mechs, fighters, starships, weapons, and of course as T'risa was thinking the personal shields they were likely to get from this shop.

Get a requirements list from both. "Need", "nice to have" and "you did say money was no object"" T'risa smirked as she spoke to S'viim. "No sense in going into this unprepared." she stopped startled as the door opened.

"All of the above?" T'risa ventured a guess as the appropriate response to the man peering out the window, unsure as to who the proprietor might be. "We were informed that the proprietor of this establishment was the person to talk to regarding personal shields? I am Marshal T'risa K'mahda and this is my team. Re: Sector Gray Seven

A raised eyebrow was pretty all that Elsbeth granted the new technician as he introduced himself to T'risa.  Well, that and the handshake as she herself was introduced by M'kira.  The Marine's grip was firm and her palms scarred and calloused in the usual places for one used to handling both longarms and large melee weapons in close quarters.

Elsbeth let the young teenager slip by her, merely shifting her shoulders while keeping a hand on her long knife.  She seemed more confused by the young woman's gum than anything else about her; the Praetorian wasn't expecting any trouble.  But then, that was always how it started.

Still, she forced herself to refocus and let her eyes settle upon the elderly gentleman in the doorway.  Elsbeth's feet moved slightly as she gave the Marshal a clear view of the individual - to allow her to proper address the man, but still managed to ensure that she could easily interpose herself between them if necessary.  It seemed to be more of an instinctual maneuver than anything else on her part.

Re: Sector Gray Seven

M'kira looks slightly surprised at the young woman wondering if she was family, customer or Employee. Depending on law Customer wasn't likley, employee again depended on law. So family or friend seemed more likely though anything was possible. Speaking to her as she pops her gum. "Definitly customers. It's a pleasure to meet you. So are you friend, family, eployee, or customer of the shop owner?"

Seeing the older man she could tell he was a touch on the gruff side. Grinning she smiles warmly speaking to him as well. "Definitly gear. Let's see what we can get shall we?"

Unless the shop keeper seems disinclined to let them in she carefully heads in looking around. She makes a graceful gesture for T'risa and the others to follow should it be safe. Or if for whatever reason he didn't want them coming inside she will wait where she is.

"Well then, come on in, let me see what you need." The Man replied looking more interested in the group.

Inside the shp was a maze of workbenches, testing rigs, and spare parts bins. Half the items were unrecognizable in function or purpose. but a wall rack held dozens of belt packs, light weight fanny packs, and braces fitted with crystal discs and sensor lenses.
A dozen softball sized drones hovered around the shop, using small manipulators to tend to mundane tasks and reorder the chaos that ruled several of the work benches.

"Defensive, offensive, or miscellaneous?" the man asked as he walked to the slightly less cluttered 'showroom'

T'risa entered the store, looking around at everything available in the place marked storeroom. "I should think we're all looking for different things. I know I need defensive and possibly miscellaneous. I need extreme defence....and also something more subtle for formal occasions and use on the space station. Our last...expedition proved to be very...hazardous. Next time due to the fact that we are now pieces on the board so to speak, we're unlikely to escape much attention, as a result I'd like to prepare my crew and I for more danger. It's nice to meet you Abby. My name is M'kira, that is Elsbeth, Balkir, S'viim, Melcor, Twitch and of course T'risa. Stay safe maybe we will meet again and share a drink together." M'kira recognized her now that she picked up on her voice. She suspected there is a good chance some if not all of the others recognized her as well. A disadvantage of celebrity status. If T'risa was going on about her business she decides to do the same. The girl hadn't asked for help and from her record she was quite capable of looking after herself. Though M'kira was inclined to help her if she needed it. The stalkers she didn't care for at all.

"I agree with T'risa Defensive is the first order of the day. However I am always interested in offensive as what Valkir doesn't enjoy new weapons to try out. I will be happy to hear about the various best offensive items you have for sale. I also have a prototype battle suit. It's not a mech but it's bigger then your average powered armor. I am curious about the Miscellaneous so I will be happy to hear about that as well in due time."

She was very interested in what the shopkeeper might have to sell. It was a little exciting wonder what sort of new things she might get to use. Some valkir referred to them as new toys to play with. And this shopkeeper sounded like he had a very nice and very large toy box to choose from!

Melcor stood at the back of the group, keeping his thoughts to himself as he gazed around the showroom. At M'Kira's mention of a 'prototype battle-suit' his left eyebrow shot up involuntarily as his interest was piqued, having been working on something similar himself in his last assignment for CASAR.
"Myself I could do with a motion sensor-comp I could integrate into existing computer systems, I doubt I could afford anything more if I wanted it," he said the last with what he hoped was a disarming smile, though what Melcor considered to be disarming or friendly in appearance very rarely was.

07:40, Today: Melcor rolled 7 using 1d20+3. wealth check.

Looking slightly sheepish as he checked his finances on his computer he looked back to the old man. "Terribly sorry, looks like I had some bills come out of my account. Forget that sensor thanks."

S'viim walked over to the newest team member and looked up to him, his eyes bright even from behind his veil.  He smoothed his green and gold robes and adopted a proper professional timbre to his voice.  It was times like this when he thought how very much he enjoyed his job.

"Excuse me, Mr Melcor, sir.  I know we were introduced earlier. I am Marshal T'risa's administrative assistant.  While I was not attempting to eavesdrop, of course, I could not help overhearing your request for the motion sensor comp.  Ms T'risa, has instructed me to ascertain what your particular needs might be as our new tech support specialist.  Also if there was anything you might want, or like, that would be useful to you, she would also need to know these as well, so she may also consider those for purchase.  After all, a specialist, such as yourself, does need the proper tools if he is to be expected to perform to the Marshal's high standards.  I would greatly appreciate your assistance in creating your requirements list."

He grinned up to Melcor and winked knowingly.  "Now, was the motion sensor comp in your need category?"

Considering we rescued and salvaged a Superdreadnought right now We are doing good in the bank deposit area. T'risa is buying us some nice new toys. I imagine she won't cut any corners so if we need something it's a good thing to let her know what and why."

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Elsbeth walked around the narrow aisle and rather cramped quarters of the store.  The entire crew (and she and Balkiir were not the smallest of people) filled the already-tight-for-space accommodations quite well.  She listened to the discussions, but had little to add; it would be nice to some additional equipment, but some of the items scattered about seemed more like half-finished prototypes or untested field items.  And some of the things more closely resembled voodoo talismans than useful or functional objects, in her (albeit) limited opinion.

She was conspicuously reticent to disturb anything.  More than once, the tall marine sergeant leaned over to more closely inspect an item, though Elsbeth was very careful not to actually touch or pick anything up.  It just seemed unnecessarily dangerous.  She might be curious about a lot of things on display, but Elsbeth wasn't dying to know about them...

The raven-haired Praetorian glanced back in the direction of the young lady that had just left the establishment having only really caught the end of the mental conversation going on, Is the young lady in need of protection?  Elsbeth had pretty much only keyed on the words 'stalker' and 'recognized'.  She didn't really know the girl, even if she seemed familiar having had her face splashed all over the recent vids.  Still, if the Marshal felt it worth their while to get involved, who was Elsbeth to not offer her body-guarding services.

"Succinctly put, Ms M'kira.  If there is one thing I learned in my research of the Marshal, it is that she has attracted quite a bit of attention.  Among the Tau this can be a most dangerous thing indeed.  Since we are both new to this team, I would advise, um Mel, that we take to heart all that Ms M'kira has said, as well as Ms T'risa's own concerns, and plan accordingly.  Now I have your requests recorded, shall we look around this, rather eclectic shop?  I am certain browsing will offer more items to add to this list."

Glancing over to their new field medic, S'viim caught his attention, then smiled broadly behind the transparent veil and gestured for him to join them.

"Ms T'risa has asked that I create a similar list of wants and needs for you as well, Mr Twitch sir.  If you would accompany us it would make the task easier for me and I would appreciate the company as well."

S'viim joins the telepathic network discussion once more.  "Again I must agree with Ms M'kira.  I doubt it would hurt to approach the Lady, cautiously and request to meet with her.  So long as we are honest and up front about our intentions she will likely not take it amiss.  If she declines that is her perogative, but it will not do us any damage to ask, in my opinion, and much might be gained."

Without a proper look at what facilities this one has access to and what gear there is within, this one cannot properly give a list of what is needed. This one carries supplies for an array of xenobiologics, and would say that a supply of medicines designated for the xenotypes of all crew members would need to be stocked for this one to be efficient at it's job. Of course, the better such supplies and facilities are, the better this one can perform it's function."

He handed twitch a belt mounted unit that was fitted with a number of sensor heads and a holoraphic display headset. it was linked to a large rigid plastic canister with empty vials slotted into the side.the tossed a havy rifle fitted with a hip mounted power unit and over sized fuel pellet hopper. then tossed out a hip mounted nano scale field processor unit.

thats's a specialized nano-processor for medical use, the other one is a mechanical unit..anything from tools to micro charges.... You can synthesize and modify raw pharmaceuticals into tailored medicines in the field, or keep yerself supplied with ammunition and micro grenades....and for the big guys withthe big guns, one handy dandy kill it dead phased plasma rifle..... this puppy don't pack the power of a shoulder fired unit but it can punch through armor, wall, Q'sa..you name it it kills it."

With permission given M'kira smiles at T'risa then turns her attention to Abby hopefully before she leaves. "Abby before you go I wonder if we might be able to help each other out. T'risa, Myself and friends have been in a few dangerous and tight spots from time to time during our missions. If you would like to assist us sometime perhaps we can help you out as well. Please let us know if you need anything. It would be a honor to fight at your side if there is need. T'risa might be able to help you out with equipment as well if you need something special. I don't guarantee it but it can't hurt to ask." T'risa did have some pull in certain circles and their new found wealth didn't hurt. Obviously Abby had resources as well or she wouldn't be in a shop like this either.

She listens to the shopkeeper as well not wanting to miss out on this. "Oh I definitely want a personal shield generator. I also would love to check out the Phased Plasma rifle. The Nano-processors are a very nice touch especially if we have to be in the field for a prolonged period of time. What do yo think T'risa?"

OOC: Very nice shopping list that. ^_^ The portable barrier generators if we get them could be on the ship and only taken out as needed. IF we get those.

She looked at the group then glanced at her wrist pad... then smiled brightly as if she were talking to an old freind, or at least someone she had a lot in common with."Oh yer thooooossose guys... I guess a little thing like occasional psychoes ruining yer day at the pool isn't something you guys would worry about..I mean I have problems but you guys pissed of an entire species or two...."

"to be honest I am not a soldier, or any thing I just pick up dirty tricks from people around me. But yeah If you guys wouldn't mind an armature tagging along I can pitch in."

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Elsbeth's ears perked up as the litany of hardware began.  And she was absolutely hooked when the moment phased-plasma repeaters and man-portable barrier shields were mentioned.  Fully alert, the tall Praetorian sidled up to the proprietor with Balkiir in tow.

Visions of various things danced in her head - which meant that it was bled pretty well over the neural network that she was a part of.  Pretty much all of them involved something exploding, although alternately she was either artfully avoiding the explosion or causing it.  Both were in equally strong measure.

With M'kira already asking for papal dispensation from the Marshal, Elsbeth figured that it was pretty much open season.

"Sir," she noted respectfully and rather formally, standing at ease, "may we have a demonstration of your various and sundry wares?"

Melcor:
Melcor thought for a moment, browsing through the assorted apparel gathered in the shop. "Thank you but the computer equipment and perhaps a rifle should cover me. I have a vast majority of the gear I need being delivered to the Marshal's base of operations. Something of a personal project," Melcor ends with a cryptic smile and returns to browsing

The administrative assistant smiled, his hands making quick movements that added or moved the data on the screen flashing across his inner veil.  He made copious notes as always, noting anything he thought the Marshal would consider relevant.  Mr Melcor seemed straight forward in his approach, very professional, and unwilling to abuse the situation when offered a 'carte blanche' for supplies. S'viim defintely respected that, it hinted at the new tech specialist's moral character

"Fair enough, Mel, I believe I have everything you have mentioned thus far.  Do you have any specifics about the firearm that you will need?  Take a look around and let me know if anything catches your attention.  In fact, as you look about this...er... unique shop, you may come across something else you have not thought of as yet; so if you see anything at all, or think of anything I can add to your wish list please do not hesitate to make me aware of it, I assure you it is no trouble whatsoever.  By the way, I ,for one, cannot wait to see what your pet project may be.

twitch:
Twitch turned to the young man, his antennae twitching with mild amusement and sincerity. "This one thanks you for the query. Without a proper look at what facilities this one has access to and what gear there is within, this one cannot properly give a list of what is needed. This one carries supplies for an array of xeno-biologics, and would say that a supply of medicines designated for the xeno-types of all crew members would need to be stocked for this one to be efficient at it's job. Of course, the better such supplies and facilities are, the better this one can perform it's function."

He paused for a moment, his antennae twitching suddenly in thoughtfulness. "If the group unit is expecting to be in many combat situations, upgraded field scanning equipment and medical dispensers would be invaluable"

He straightened a bit, but still well in the habitual slouch his people stay in. "This one will be pleasured to accompany wherever it is needed. This one strives to be useful."

S'viim beams as the mention of the field scanning equipment upgrade.  Twitch seemed to him quite a methodical being, and his desire to serve was one the B'shah male could identify with well.  He had a feeling he would get along with the new doctor quite well indeed.

"Very well, I have your request noted, and I did hear the shopkeep mention some medical nano-thingamabob which might be of interest to you.  And perhaps some personal shielding might be in order, in case you it were necessary for you to help someone in the midst of battle?  Such things can happen after all.  Let us peruse some of these intriguing things together shall we?"

S'viim noted M'kira's approaching Ms Rayne, and was curious as to what the ultimate outcome of their conversation might be.  He had to admit he was a little excited that such a famous personage would happen to be at the Emporium at the same time as the team.

Melcor considered again for a moment and answered concisely. "I was thinking something ballistic with respectable range and good stopping power, and preferably high ammo capacity. I hate having to reload mid-battle," as he spoke an idea occurred to him suddenly and he corrected himself quickly. "In fact ignore that. I think an energy based weapon and a power backpack, that way I shouldn't have to reload at all! Either would be good, but the energy rifle and power backpack would probably suit me better."

When Elspeth asked for a demonstration the mans face lit up with wicked glee."Firing range is down stairs, grab what tickles yer fancy and head down....If it breaks, melts down, or blows up in your face it's free."

Now about those barriers and that gun, I have something that should fit the bill." He handed S'viim a heavy belt pack fitted with several receptacles for weapons power cells." Proof to most small arms, and fragments, as well as plasma and laser diffusion around thirty to forty percent..power cells drain fast though when it starts taking hits."

He took a second unit from the wall, this one fitted with a heavy voltage cable, inside an armored, articulated sleeve. A bulky rifle about the size of a heavy battle rifle sat next to it." this is the best of both worlds. It fires a slug of energized hypermatter at around mach two it will incinerate matter, or explode on impact so it acts like plasma bolt with superior penetration....mind the recoil though i haven't got the compensater worked out yet. ."

OOC
Basic Shield pack.
Shield Absorbs the first 40 hits taken from projectile, and plasma weapons, and offers 40% reduction in laser weapons.
once total hits absorb equals forty points the shield drops and needs to be recharged for 1d8 rounds
Power pack holds ten weapons cells capable of absorbing 200 hit points worth of damage.
Wearers AC is effectively 10 Plus dex and class bonus to determine if shield is struck.

Charged Rifle:
4d6 Autofire 10 range increment 90ft, Crit 19-20 x4 Ballistic/heat 200 shots in ready magazine can be reloaded as a move action from backpack hopper.which holds 1000 charges of Hyper-matter.
Does an addition 1d4 per round for 1d6 rounds.

if set to overcharge does 6d6 semi auto + 2d6 in a 5ft radius. reduces target DR/hardness five points.

The medical one I think is best handled by our doctor and I bet it's going to prove very, very useful."

Then laughs when she talks about what she picked up from Elsebeth. "Don't make her really mad Balkir. I doubt she will use the Impact hammer on you but it won't be pleasant I am sure."

"Drones sound really nice. Actually some people use rigs and remote control combat drones or let them go with A.I." At least she felt both options would commonly be available as long as the range was practical. She looks over at Abby.  "What sort of weapons do you favor? Re: Sector Gray Seven

Elsbeth appeared to be entirely nonplussed about the psychic bleed that Abby was encountering from her.  She quirked her head to the side, stating simply, "I know two-hundred and seventeen distinct ways to disable a bipedal sophont."  There was a thoughtful pause before she continued, "Less than that to disarm one..."  And with a bit of a nod, "And more than that to actually kill."  She actually seemed more surprised that of all those possibilities that was the one that Abby keyed on.

And since Elsbeth knew that she was thinking about at the time (and it wasn't close quarters combat with charged bludgeoning instruments), she could only presume that part of the scenario was actually from the young blonde girl herself.

Besides, true to her genotype as a Praetorian, Elsbeth had always considered herself a guardian and defender first and foremost.  Violence was one means to an end, which was the continued survival of herself and her charges.  The fact that she often got emotionally attached to those that she was designated to protect, seemed natural to her (though her designers might consider it a flaw).

Of course, Balkiir was a different matter.  His protection was probably not necessary; her emotional attachment to him was undeniable and very necessary.  Though she had only known him for a short time (comparatively speaking), Elsbeth could not longer envision a future without him; so strong was the emotional bond that had been formed in her mind.  It was like the attachment that she always felt when protecting someone, and yet so completely different.  And much more deep.  She squeezed his hand and could only shake her head slightly when M'kira playfully quipped about any anger management issues that might the raven-haired CMC Marine might have.  She gave the both of them a noncommittal shrug and a bit of a sheepish grin, neither confirming nor denying anything said.

Instead, Elsbeth preoccupied herself with the technology, hefting a number of the longarms to test the weight, balance and other physical ergonomics of them.  She didn't seem to have to many problems lifting or wielding any of the weapons, but was critical of some of the design choices - acknowledging that they were prototypes in many cases - and letting the proprietor know where she thought problems might stem from.  Weapon design might not be one of her fortes.  But, weapon usage was one of her specialties; so, while she might not know why something was placed where it was, the tall, thin Praetorian wasn't shy about making her opinion known about whether she thought a given item could be used effectively on the battlefield.

She picked two of the larger rifles to try out and tossed two more to the large blue Valkiir male for him to take a look at as well.  Pulling a number of the energy packs and magazines for testing, Elsbeth followed M'kira and the elderly gentleman towards the firing range.  She seemed quite eager to try out the wares, as there was a touch of jauntiness in her step; nothing untoward, but more as though she was 'in her element', of sorts.  And that element seemed encompass a lot of fire and lightning.

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Well I have tactical and assault shielding that I am only supposed to make available to special operations, and a few select civilian operatives...But I think I can assume your on the list...or get you put on it pretty damn quick." The shop keeper hit a tabon his wrist bracer and a second section of wall retracted showing far more advanced looking devices and specialized armors.

<Blue>the special purpose gear works more like a solid surface than a plasma field, of course it takes a few seconds o warm up, or reform after getting disrupted but it can take hits that would disable most shields in a single shot..Now it uses nano scale-drones, and exo-matter in the defense matrix so you have to refuel them every so often.

The Shield drones can form a mobile screen and move to intercept projectile and plasma shots, no such luck with lasers though they don't have that sort of speed, even using gravitic screens to disperse a laser beam the sensors cant detect the heat trail of the beam fast enough to project a field in front of the beam."

Asault Shields
Basic Shield pack.
Shield Absorbs the first 70 hits taken from projectile, and plasma weapons, and offers 50% reduction in laser weapons.
once total hits absorb equals 70 points the shield drops and needs to be recharged for 1d8 rounds
Power pack holds ten weapons cells capable of absorbing 200 hit points worth of damage.
Wearers AC is effectively 14+dex bonus+class bonus to determine if shield is struck. if the strike exceeds this number the shield is unable to deflect the strike, and damage is absorbed by the shield.

Shield drones grant 1/2 cover from projectile and plasma attacks, but are ineffective against laser or melee attacks. Unfortunately they also block line of fire, a person could deploy a drone to cover his flanks, or use a move action to move the drone out of his way, fire then move the drone back into position.

However if an enemy goes on the same point in the initiative order it could fire while the drone was out of position with the defender receiving no cover from the shield drone. a drones shield have the same stats as the basic shield pack, if the attacker fires ont eh drone itself and gets through it's shield the drone will take 15 HP before it shuts down to avoid destruction.

down stairs a series of lanes were set up with targets set up to test the various weapons with a touch of a switch powerful gravitic barriers ad plasma screens form to keep the more powerful weapons from tearing holes through the walls into the next building.

The heavier weapons on she shelves are designed to be used with power armor, or by combat  exo-suits. Several look as if they were originally meant to be mounted on full vehicles but have been modified for use by Cyberoids or heavily augmented troops.

Re: Sector Gray Seven

The tall Praetorian continued to inspect the various and sundry firearms even as the shields were being explained.  However, one could not call Elsbeth inattentive, as she was apparently listening to the instructions.  She had grabbed a set of both offensive and defensive gear for testing, motioning for anyone else (including the young blonde girl) interested to join her downstairs.

Gesturing towards one of the larger weapons, the lanky CMC-Marine prompted the proprietor, "You have a test pintle-mount rig for this?"  It was only partially a question as it seemed pretty obvious to her that some sort of man-amplification systems was likely to be required to properly test the thing.  The question was rather perfunctory, as the large support weapon was hefted onto one shoulder with a slight grunt; apparently come hell or high water, the weapon was likely to be fired.

"Only if the individual was," Elsbeth called over her shoulder towards Abby as she toted her wares down to the testing range, "one, still alive after being run over.  And two, you didn't intend to kill them at the time..."  Both intent and action were important in this case.  Inadvertently, disabling didn't count.  And if the individual had died 'accidentally,' then that was manslaughter (level 2, at minimum).

The raven-haired Marine seemed quite at home in front of the targets downstairs.  Instinctively, she put on the ear and eye protection and proceeded to test her potential purchases once the hum of the generators for the protective building barriers began.  Elsbeth was meticulous and methodical, starting with the smallest and working her way up.

One might have said she was all business.  Except that as she continued to work, a slight crooked - almost mischievous - smile crept onto her lips.  More than once she passed a weapon to Balkiir for him to try out as well.  And also more than once, though she said very little, the psychic bleed over the Marshal's communication network caught a sense of 'I have got to get me one of these...'  Elsbeth was definitely a kid in a candy store...

M'kira ooo's looking over all the nice new toys she and her friends could enjoy testing out. Keeping some of it was definitely a must considering this was their chance for a fun shopping spree. Glancing at Abby M'kira shakes her head with a smile. "I imagine anything that takes down the enemy counts Abby. Although Elsbeth has a point your intent at the time makes a difference."

She grins smiling at Elsbeth as she follows speaking softly. "Don't mind if I do." She was a bit excited to test out the various weapons and defensive items. Grabbing a few items herself she heads down stairs as well. Looking very happy she eagerly test fires a few calibrating them as needed. Then activates her personal shield getting used to it. For a little bit she checks out the Nano blade wielding it gracefully and with a critical eye for quality.

M'kira tries out the Plasma repeater, then the Heavy charged repeater, followed by the Twenty five mm cannon. Who could resist that after all? She also checks out the grave belt, Harness to see what it's like. "Hmm T'risa I like the Wild Weasel drone for the electronic warfare But I also like the hijaker and the plasma lvl IV drones. To bad we can't combine it all into one drone. Upgrading for the A.I. would be well worth it if your going to use the drone a lot it's nice to have one that will learn and can help out without being told what to do constantly. Might become good friends after a few battles together too. A few maintenance drones would come in handy as well you know we are going to take damage to our ship, fighter and other gear over time. "

He smiled softly behind his veil as the others got more and more excited by each new item.  War was a complicated thing, and S'viim was very glad indeed he was but a humble secretary.  Oh he had his own weapons and defenses; he was far from helpless.  Still, personal conflict was not to his taste and he was more than glad to have N'ssa to deal with those sorts of dangerous situations.

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Unlike the lighter shields which created a field of distortion and little more. the heavier shield seemed to grow from glowing motes of dust to a solid barrier which closely hugged the wearers existing armor, and created a second set of physical plates created by a combination of gravitic forces and intelinked nanites that flowed from reserves in the hip and fanny pack that was included with the shield.
The weapons ran the list from projectile to highly focused plasma. the heaviest were on the range of a hand carried heavy machine gun. the two plasma weapons switched queickly from a rapid fire setting to a heavy high impact plasma cannon mode.
In short order the test range was full of vapor and fumes from the rapid fire weapons and the sound was properly impressive leaving the ears ringing and a slight after image each time the weapons fired. with proper hearing protection and visors the muzzle blast and concussion were well within the tolerance of anyone who had fired weapons regularly

Two weapons were available for inspection but not firing. the heavy mass driver guns could easily punch through any personal armor and shields, and deal serious damage to most vehicles, and powered armor. The bulky weapons looked unmanageable at first but once the built in gravitcs, and micro thrusters engaged they were easily handled with little effort by the powerfully built marines.

A crate of test grenades, with reduced power were set up for testing. Plasma, gas, and several "disco ball"grenades were ready to test fire. They were single use laser emitters, which hit the ground popped back into the air and sprayed dozens of beams of intense laser energy within a twenty meter circle.
With a reluctant sigh The vendor also produced a collection of other items, micro sized explosive charges, xeno-matter enhanced projectiles and a small pistol which fired projectiles made of highly unstable xeno-matter which burned like the heart of the sun for several seconds after being fired.

Weapons

Plasma repeater
Plasma Assault gun
Laser repeater Hvy
Plasma Smg
Plasma projector ( works like a grenade launcher )

T'risa nodded at the shield prospects to her aide, her eyes smiling at the prospect of making everyone safer. She was less interested in the weaponry, though the small pistol caught her eye. She picked primarily utilitarian items for herself, placing a high premium on defensive equipment. "Okay, everyone, we'll need to be on the move soon. Please let S'viim know what you need and the account will cover it all." T'risa nodded her approval to S'viim to complete the transaction. "While I appreciate this is really everything you have to offer. I'm sure we'll be back her to order new items in a few months. The edge our technology should give you over your competitors might allow you to broaden your horizons. We appreciate your hospitality and welcome and look forward to future business with you."

She glanced at S'viim "Ok, so, uniforms, weapons and defensive measures and our immediate needs are taken care of. Is there anything else on the agenda for today or can I shop for some of the more luxury goods that I might need?"

Re: Sector Gray Seven

S'viim caught T'risa's nod as she examined the personal shields and other defensive gear, and nodded in return, immediately understanding her intent; he'd make sure that a shield was purchased for everyone, plus a few extra in case some were damaged during operations.  He stood ready to add any other desired items as they were brought to his attention, adding them to his tally as needed and retrieving the data required to conclude their business with the vendor as T'risa indicated.

S'viim appreciated that the Marshal was willing to allow him to complete the transaction, noting how she seemed to relax, knowing things were in good hands.  He felt honoured by her faith in him.  Support her.  Take as much of the burden from her shoulders as you can, S'viim, his Matron had commanded him.  For it will only grow greater, believe me.  Underneath his opaque veil, the Tau man smiled; he hoped she would be proud of him.

Having finished her farewell to the shop keep, T'risa turned to him once again and he readily pulled up her schedule to answer her question.

"Hmm, I do not see anything further scheduled Ms T'risa, however... You, and it would appear everyone else in our unit. has received an invitation to a reception, hosted this evening by the local Omaeda representative: refreshments, dinner, entertainment and a formal dance to follow the meal are indicated.  Shall I send them your reply?"

Re: Sector Gray Seven

"Ok T'risa!" Looking over the items with interest. "I will take a Plasma repeater, Plasma Assault Gun, Some Grav Grenades, A grav belt that's to cool to pass up."

She was quite happy that they would have a lot of new equipment or toys as it were to test out. Pausing at the mention of a dance. "A formal Dance? I have a feeling we are going to need to dress up for that if we go." She slips closer to T'risa whispering softly with a smile. "Mind if I ask for the first dance or is there going to be protocol that dictates our dancing partners?"

She glances at Balkir and Elsbeth with a grin. "I look forward to seeing you to Dance. Poppy as well if she doesn't mind. You could dance with Tiny, Myself or S'viim if it wont' stir up trouble. I won't suggest Balkir since I don't know how Elsbeth feels about letting him dance with someone else yet." She gives Elsbeth a inquiring glance to see how she felt about the idea.

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Twitch looked over the offerings, tilting his head to the side and lowering his antennae in polite consideration.

"This one would find the non-lethal weaponry more than sufficient for normal duty." He indicates the Restraint Rifle and the Gravity Snare. "The Grav Belt would likely be useful for mobility, although this one wonders if a Grav Board could be modified to fold outwards to carry a sentient in the event that said sentient is incapable of movement, so as to guide them to safety."

Re: Sector Gray Seven

S'viim nods smiling and adds them to the growing list.  He considers the question posed by Twitch, concerning the Grav Board and then replies:

"We can certainly ask the S'vath sahdi if such a modification is possible.  I am quite certain they would accommodate such a reasonable request.  However, asking a Techno-mancer to reconsider his designs is a dangerous business.  He is liable to end up creating a sentient Grav board that can fly a starship and critiques your medical practices."  S'viim chuckles.

T'risa's secretary glances over in the direction of the store where medical devices are displayed and points it out to Twitch.  "Perhaps you might consider some of this equipment to assist you, sir?  I see Dermal re-generators, Tissue knitters, Nano Surgical units, Multi-species bio-scanners, even a Medical Nano Drone unit.  I don't pretend to understand all of these things, but would some of these be useful to you?"

Re: Sector Gray Seven

" You know if I integrated an Ai core into the boards hardware, and fitted it with ..." the technomancer began to think out loud as he listened...obviously triggered by S'viims words." Oh, yeah where were we..Yeah I can knock together a special order, realllll easy."

He grinned looking at the funds available for transfer as he ran T'risa's account though his exchange terminal."But ya know what would really make this a sweet deal...A bit of the core from that "thing" you salvaged. You can get what I need from main gun...I saw the footage and sensor data the fleet got, of those ..ummm  devices you brought back...That thing has to be using Hyper excited Ferros-Zed in it's main array to get that kind of output without needing to drop it's shields and drives to fire...If you could get me Say a kilo of that stuff would give me the raw material to put together a project i was working on with the Fleet guys. Before I had a slight accident and burned out the last I had.

Now if ya get me the material I'll trade flat out the gear, and the modified board and medical scanners for yer friend and call it even."

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Elsbeth started to push a number of items into the purchase pile; the laser repeater, as well as the plasma projector and SMG were placed there.  Since the plasma projector was on that table, the various grenade munitions for it would also have to be supplied.  So, an assortment of the 'regular', grav, gravgoo, and stick bomb ammunition found their way into the basket.

She hefted the gravity maul testing its weight and balance in both hands then passed it to Balkiir, motioning for him to place it in the pile as well.  "Either you or I can use it..." seemed to be her justification and there was a complete lack of worry in voice despite the fact that the maul obviously had nothing less than a pocket singularity contained within.  That likely had to due with the fact that her concussion rod worked on a similar principle, if slightly lower powered.

The lanky Praetorian picked up the repulsor gloves and boots.  "Marshal," Elsbeth asked, "May I?  I am pretty sure that these pickups will integrate well with the T-17 based CMC standard relays on my recon armour."

Since, the grav belt and various non-lethal weaponry hard already been tapped, Elsbeth didn't need to make sure they made their way onto the cart.  She was also pretty sure that she'd seen T'risa earmark the Psi Needler (and rightfully so).  As far as she could tell, they had pretty much cleaned out the establishment of its more exotic items.

As she weighed the incinerator pistol in her hands, M'kira's musings caught her ear.  She looked up like a deer in the headlights, staring first at tall blue woman and then over to Balkiir and then back, "What do you mean, Gunnery Sergeant?"  She grimaced slightly, "They attempted to teach me to dance once..."  There was a mental flash of rather troubled consternation, and then a montage of broken toes, broken furniture, and a lot of tripping and falling.  Elsbeth had never considered herself uncoordinated.  But that didn't mean that she was graceful either.

Re: Sector Gray Seven

"A grav board certainly sounds interesting." She wonders how safe it would be to ride if that was in mind.

Looking over at Elsbeth she smiles with a slightly amused expression. "Oh so you would rather sit it out on the side lines and watch? It's to bad dancing can be a lot of fun. It's fine by me if you would rather not. Let's just hope it's not  expected of everyone. You could always ask Balkir to show you a move or two if you change your mind. With that expression though I doubt you will."

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Twitch looked over, his antennae moving in mollified chastisement. "Yes, of course friend B'shah. This one apologizes for it's oversight."

When the mention of exchange is mentioned his antennae moved into polite puzzlement. Not knowing of what the group has done prior to his arrival, Twitch wisely stays away from that subject.

Something nagged at the mind, and then he recalled the mention of an invite to a reception.

"Apologies for non-critical query, but this one is unaware of this 'reception'. Is this some sort of ritual?" His antennae stayed in the polite puzzlement rotation.

Re: Sector Gray Seven

Balkiir gave the weapons a once over as they made their selections and then tried on one of the grav belts, hovering a few inches off the ground and then with little visible effort cut a complete flip without actually moving more than a few inches.
"Hoverboards aren't too hard to manage, although the ones I saw back when I did a few months on Hammerhead were made from scavenged parts by the local hoodlums." He hefted the Maul and grinned. He was an obvious blade man himself but the heft and throaty humm of the gravitcs were a satisfying touch." We'll take two of these....."

"Oh good lord a Tau reception, give me a good ol' alien invasion, comet strike, and zombie uprising all rolled into one..." He laughed and gave Elspeth a reassuring smile." It's mostly ballroom dancing, and if you can handle dodging rockets I think you can manage to get through it alive....Besides your gonna be the envy of all those little blue witches, you have a man of your very own..no sharing."

Re: Sector Gray Seven

T'risa pursed her lips considering the offer. "I might need to get back to you on that. I've promised the fleet full access to the ship. The materials on board might be necessary for that investigation, but you intrigue me with your discussions on the experiments you were running...." T'risa raised an eyebrow to her aide, wondering how much initiative he might take in order to make it work. "How about all of the gear we're about to take for free, plus once your experiments work, if they are fruitful, you update our vessel for cost."

T'risa raised a hand in the room "While we are now much better prepared for war.....we are not prepared for receptions. I'd like a small shield gen for myself that can be incorporated into formal clothing. S'viim, check to see if there are any tailors or dressmakers on the station that can accommodate large numbers and speedy work. Abby, would you care to join us for an evening. I'd very much enjoy hearing about your exploits."

"Your certainly welcome to come with us Abby. I think it will be fun for you to get to enjoy a social gathering. Oh and I would like a smaller shield generator as well that I can incorporate into my clothing as well. Might as well be prepared for trouble. Besides it's our job to look after T'risa if someone starts a shoot out at the party."

M'kira grins looking over at Balkirr and clapping him playfully on the back with a bit of force. "That's true your a taken man now. That should slow them down a little bit before they try to pounce on you. Besides Elsbeth can handle herself. They will probably think twice before crossing swords with her."

"My pleasure, T'risa," S'viim answered sincerely.  He already had the station directory on his veil screen and it did not take him more than a minute uncover the best possible match for Lady T'risa's needs.  He smiled brightly and replied.

"There is a listing here for a Matron by the name of Hera N'varrii.... she is actually on the same level as we are currently, Gray Seven, and has 24/7 business hours listed (impressive work ethic)...she is available any time any day for special orders... I believe she will suit your requirements T'risa."
