Re: Dungeons and Dragons

Which edition are you looking for?

Original, BECMI, AD&D(1st or 2nd), D&D 3.x, D&D 4th, D&D Next?

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

Well it's no so much me...I'm very busy with work, so I could not do a good job as a DM. But it really help potential GM figure out if what they have to offer is for you or not.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

You heard wrong, 4 is the 2nd best version because it locked down on caster power. The best is obviously 13th Age by Pelgrane Press.

Let's do that!

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

I would like to play if it was BECMI - ideally set in Mystara

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

I would be interested in playing an old-school D&D game of some kind, if it were set in Mystara! Glantri is my favorite...

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

If there's still interest in this, then you all just got a Christmas present!

I'm interested in GMing such as game:

BECMI (unless everyone would rather switch to a 3.5 version)
Mystara
Glantri (what time period is anyone interested in?)

I'm still trying to come up with a campaign idea, so I'm open to other people's suggestions. I'm leaning, at the moment, to one aimed at restoring the Republic.

Anything else you want to see?

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

In case you aren't familiar with the parlance, BECMI is short hand for Basic, Expert, Companion, Master and Immortal, each a boxed set of rules for the original Dungeons and Dragons. So, by definition, these are about as introductory and beginner friendly as you can get.

You don't even really need the rules books, as they are simple enough. Once I set the game up, they'll be threads covering any rules you need to know.

Re: Dungeons and Dragons

StarMaster, your suggestions all sound fine to me!

drobob - just to add to StarMaster's comments - in the 1980s there was "Basic" D&D (the B from BECMI) and a more complex version called Advanced D&D (AD&D).

Later on, BECMI went out of print and the 3rd and 4th editions were evolved from AD&D.

However BECMI still has a large following.  It can be played with or without miniature figurines.  Its default campaign setting is a world called Mystara about which you can see more here: http://www.pandius.com/
