For what it's worth, I, too, think this idea is worth pursuing. Unfortunately, like pfarland, I'd only be a lurker. My recollection of the characters isn't recent or detailed enough to be a player, and I've never played CoC, let alone GMed it.
Having said that, I'm sure that if I were familiar with the rules I could run such a game. I think the trick is not to take it too seriously - this isn't something that is going to "undermine your standing as a serious movie director and ruin your career", it's a bit of fun to keep a few friends amused for a while.
If someone wants to run the game, get a group of players together, ask them what they want from the game, then provide it. That's all there is to it.
You could run ScoobyHamlet if you wanted to - who cares what the Shakespearean Actors Guild thinks of it? It's a game. If the players have fun, that's all that matters.
Just do it!
