In reply to doom29169 (msg # 1):

You have my interest, Doom. I have a couple of questions for you. Are you seeing the setting of Los Angeles in the late 1800s are being steampunky, wild western, or historically accurate? Also, I have not gotten around to watching the latest Terminator movie yet nor the Shara Connor Chronicles. Would these be required viewing for a GM or another player?

Re: Terminator in the late 1800s
What system did you want to use? That's the selling point for me.

I am a diehard "Cameron's vision" Terminator fan. When I was at the height of acting aspirations I quoted Terminator 2 word for word for every character and even did (most) of the (very cheesy improv) reenactment. I don't remember half of it (verbatim) but I know that movie better than any other and the first one I still watched literally over fifty times.

That being said, if the system is too blocky I just can't make it happen. I'm dealing with some RL issues, and getting my other games started, but dang it I LOVE Terminator. Besides, I have been kicking around the idea of GMing a game with that theme for over a decade, I might as well take the opportunity if I can.

Modern warfare is something I'm not very familiar with anyway, so making it old west puts it closer to my area of expertise. Though to be fair I've never watched a good old fashioned western (John Wayne, Clint Eastwood style) either. I do know the genre, and I've seen movies like Tombstone and Young Guns, so I think I could wing it.

I know 1800's weaponry, like S&W and Colt, though not so much as to become too obsessed if we wanted to deviate from it some for some more "flavorful" weaponry.

The system, as I said is the big hang up. If you're not in a hurry I might research a new system (for me) that might work, but I can only think of two systems I know that I would be willing to GM. It know BESM (2e Revised (which would need to be even more simplified) and a homebrew system I made up. If you wanted another pre-made system, it would need to be VERY rules lite. I can't juggle a segmented system ala D&D (any), or White Wolf, GURPS, and so many others. I just have too many commitments for games that were requested as rules-lite but then later requested to be mostly "by the book" after they started.

I love the Terminator world. I would love to leave my mark on a custom storyline that doesn't undermine the end of T2, and I would love to have the chance to GM for you Doom29169. We keep getting our wires crossed the few times we've had chance to be in the same game.!

Let me know by Rmail (for quickest reply) or here if you're interested and want to discuss the logistics of me GMing.

If not, I wish you luck in finding someone better suited. If that's the case, I hope it works, because it sounds like it will be a blast (possibly even literally)!

Sorry Doom, but I don't know the Old West well enough to run a game there. How would Dark Ages suit you?

Re: Terminator in the late 1800s

From earlier post:
"I am looking for a GM willing to run a solo or preferably duo game using TW 2K or 3.5 modern. The premise is that Skynet sends terminators to kill John Conner's ancestor, a veteran of the Civil War who has moved to California. Since records of this era are more sketchy it would take longer for the machines to zero in on their quarry. My character (a female) would be sent back to save him. I would like this to be a kind of mirror parallel to the original Terminator in that a nice little romance and possibly paradox like John Conner being the son of the man sent to protect Sarah. As such this should be an adult game.

We can work out the details, but I see this as a bit different from the original Terminator because the resistance sends my gal back several years before the terminators arrive to give her more of a chance to prepare for the machine's arrival. If you are interested in Being the GM please respond via rmail. Thank you."

This game should be long term and on going. Thank You
