Re: The Witcher

There are plans for an actual system to be released.  Might have better luck when that happens.  Unfortunately, I'm not ready to start a new game yet, else I'd be creating it as we speak.

Re: The Witcher

Do you have any ideas of systems that you think would work well?

Re: The Witcher

Pathfinder, E6 or plain, with a homebrew race and obvious major alterations of magic.

Green Ronin's system for sifrp with some work being necessary for monsters and then the occasional sorceress.

No system, this is what I've done in the past, we just used stats to track things; the basic stats were there to it was easy to understand a difference in strength or skill.

I'm sure other systems would work, but these are the ones I've played with.

Re: The Witcher

I'm not offering to run this for you... but here is a gem of a playbook for Dungeon World called The Slayer.  I't's based off of the Witcher Maybe you'd have more luck finding a GM for that?

Re: The Witcher

Impcrit will be a good GM, and I look forward to playing with them, but it should be mentioned that I'll still be looking because they have a slow posting rate.

Re: The Witcher

I got the new Witcher game also and am liking what I read quite a bit. I would like to get in on this, most likely as a Sorcerer.

In fact I would not be averse to two PC game, Kensai playing a Witcher and myself as a Sorcerer, if we cannot get more players.

Re: The Witcher

I might be interested, but I don't know much about the games. If one of you wants to help a girl out via rMail as far as giving me a rundown of the setting info, that'd be cool. I too picked up the RPG because what I have seen seemed pretty cool!

Re: The Witcher

Any taker willing to run this? Even a small game with 2 PCs would be great; just a duo (or trio) of adventurers wandering the world, seeking their fortune and hunting monsters while maybe getting embroiled in political situations of the various kingdoms and duchies.

Re: The Witcher

Read most of the books, absolutely loved the transition to PC games. Kinda bummed out that the system has not been released, yet. What kind of system for the game (while we wait for the release) have you had in mind, guys?

If by system you mean the new Witcher RPG, it has been released a since few weeks ago, at least in pdf via online retailers.

Re: The Witcher

In all fairness, it isn't 3 years continuous. I'd found a storyteller who did a great job, but then he disappeared. When I found out that the new system had finally come out I decided to throw the old advertisement up again.

In reply to kensai (msg # 28):

Kensai, seriously toying with idea of running this. Just need to look more into the system. It's quite extensive and not something I have seen before. The crossbow mechanic is interesting. What kind of character would you want to play and would you be rolling for all of the events and such? What period of Witcher saga are you most interested to play in? If interested in playing Witcher class, what school have you had in mind? Are you interested in more political aspect of the game, grey (no right choices) or something else? What are your expectations?

Re: The Witcher

I'd say that using the system or not is up to the person who runs it. I'll roll with whatever they decide to do, because after all this time, I'm just happy to play in the setting! I'd probably either play a Witcher or a magic user of some sort, it sort of depends on what the storyteller feels strongest at.

If you feel strongest running classic monster slaying, wenching and a more witcher styled campaign, then being a witcher is the obvious choice..

On the other hand, if you're the sort who runs morally grey political campaigns in Vampire and the like, and that's your strength, then a mage would be a better choice.

I'm happy with either.

Era preference: we can discuss it. I have ideas on how to adapt a new setting post the events of Witcher 3, or we can go quite a bit earlier. I tend to want to avoid entangling myself with the events of the video games.

Witcher School: School of the Bear, probably.

Re: The Witcher

Kensai, I'll say lets see if we can make this thing work. I like the character creation system in new Witcher RPG. It helps with development and flavor, as well as I think it helps GMs with ideas for quests and such. I ain't promising that it'll be great  or if it is going to be what you are looking for. I only promise that I'll attempt to make the game enjoyable for both you and I.
