Cyberpunk 2020

I always have fond memories of Cyberpunk from my youth, and I wondered if anybody has a game that I could slot into, or would be willing to start one up. If so, probably rmail me so that I won't lose your reply in this forum.

Thanks.

Maybe I could actually set one up myself... I'd love to play with the original ruleset actually... Lifepath is one thing that has always attracted me to CP2020 also.

I know nothing about Cyberpunk 2020.  Would love to learn.  Never played it but always heard good stuff.

Cyberpunk 2020

I am reviving this thread because there are many who want to play, but not enough GMs.

For myself, I will be in any Cyberpunk 2020 game for the long haul, something which has always frustrated me about CP2020 games on RPoL.  So, if there are any GMs willing to take this on (I don't care if I am the only one playing or we only end up with one or two Players), you would be much appreciated.

What this System needs are GMs who won't suddenly disappear and who are willing to keep going no matter what happens with other Players and, in certain situations (because I understand stuff happens), whatever RL may bring.  So, please, please, please, if you are willing to GM a game, please also commit to a very long campaign.

Thank you.

I would love to play some Cyberpunk2020 myself. I just know that I don't have the time to GM it.

I would be up for playing CP2020. I don't have any experience with the system, or I would offer to run it.

Cyberpunk 2020

In reply to aguy777 (msg # 8):

Just out of interest, what kinds of Games are you used to running, aguy777?  CP2020 is a very easy System to learn and if you can tell a story, then that should be enough to get you through.  Players (myself included) will help you with anything you need to get it off the ground and help in general.

Cyberpunk 2020

In reply to BlzBub666 (msg # 9):

I've run D&D a bunch, as well as some SWN and WH40K. One of my current games is close to 14,000 posts, so longevity isn't an issue with me.

I'm entirely unfamiliar with CP2020. I have the rules, but haven't had a chance to play or run it. I could potentially mess up some rules, or flub some of the canon. Anybody who plays with me basically needs to accept the fact that I will mess up at some point. I'm only human, after all.

I prefer to run games with a mixture of combat and intrigue. If there's a good amount of interest, and players willing to put up with a GM new to the system,  I would consider running it.

Cyberpunk 2020

In reply to aguy777 (msg # 11):

One thing about CP2020 is, it's very dated, and as such, you can stick to the core rules but tweak cannon to suit your needs.  Messing up is fine, also, especially as you have already stated you will be new to running the game.

I have one questions though: even if there isn't a lot of interest (I know there is), would you be willing to run a solo campaign?

I, personally, don't like solo campaigns that much. Just something about it bores me, regardless of whether the player and GM are good or not.

Understood.  I guess we wait to see if you decide to go ahead and GM a game, then.

Thanks for the replies.

Cyberpunk 2020

In reply to aguy777 (msg # 11):

In my (somewhat limited experience) the biggest issue to look out for is how the expanded rules for clothing and armor make it trivially easy to get super-effective armor that is 'concealable'.

So long as you stick to the general scale of armor protection vs subtlety in the core book, you should be fine.

Or, alternatively, you just run the setting as "It's normal to bring an assault rifle when you go to the corner store to buy milk". That works too xD

I'm loving the mental image that conjures in my head. Lol.

Having read through the core rules more, I can see that I would take a game like this closer to Pink Mohawk than Black Trenchcoat. The tone of the rules itself kinda leans to the first one.

I've always found play style to be down to the Players and their Characters, with a mixture of both, or more of a Black Trenchcoat feel.  At least in the games I've played in.

Any chance you may actually run said game, aguy777?

The game is up. The link for it is below. I doubt the game will be purely Pink Mohawk; especially considering what I learned when I read FNFF.

The game is currently full.  Sixteen players divided into two teams.  There is a lot of interest for CP2020, but not enough GM's, unfortunately.
