D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

In reply to Rothos1 (msg # 10):

I think a series is what is being asked for. I know I would want to raid several building to a Klauth type hit.

D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

Would you be open to Pathfinder? And how do you feel about downtime rules?

D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

I'm not very familiar with pathfinder but I'd be willing to discuss if the concept I have could fit in that game with you if you wanted to run something

bodman, can you tell me more?
I would think I would be ;O)

Well, not that I have a full concept fleshed out, but the idea would be similar to the movie Reign of Fire. A post apocalyptic world where dragons have destroyed everything. Except we throw in the added idea of Urban Arcana. So I'm thinking it would be something along the lines of dragons breaking the veil and causing mass chaos, creating the apocalyptic setting.

So you've got the modern world with elves and dwarves and orcs in a post apocalyptic setting with dragons.

Re: D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

sounds like a Dragon focused Rifts game actually
or ShadowRun
was not exactly what I was looking for but I would certainly play in it

Re: D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

I may be willing to run a 3.5 game.

System wise, I would limit players to what books they could make use of. System bloat killed 3.5 and I won't have it kill my games.  Some splat books will be completely forbidden and all players will be limited to the PHB and one Splat book.

I may be interested in this.
Can we negotiate with SRD + 1 splatbook?

Re: D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

I've played 3.5 for as long as it has been out. And, in my experience, if given free reign players will break party balance with feat+Prestige combos. I've done it, and seen it done hundreds of times. And I still don't know every method of doing it.

I'd be willing to allow everything if all the players agree that I can kick out players whom I decide has broken the game without warning.  Arguing tires me out and researching exactly what ways a character's abilities can break the game also tires me out.

Re: D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

Simply put. The CR system only works in the unmodified base 3.5, so allowing even one Splat book per character adds quite a bit of work on my part as it is.

Re: D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

I more or less agree actually, my preference is either anything goes or like only races with no LA etc

when you say one splat book however, is that for classes or for equipment to? I might not need more then 1 extra book but the truth is I tend to use info off of the srd so I'm not always sure what book it was in

Re: D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

Classes and feats are what I'm specifically limiting. Items and spells are fairly balanced throughout.

I want to hunt a dragon.  I've been looking for a GM to let me use any of my own higher level characters as it is.

Re: D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

I would be willing to run this in pathfiinder. Starting level 12 all pfsrd non-third party open. It would have to be paizo. I can work with you on converting a character from 3.5.

It would be a series of hunts in a homebrew world. It would be brutal. As it went on, you would level up and challenge the most powerful of dragons.

If interested I will setup the game tonight

Looking to play an artificer... can think of some lowish level ways to weaken a dragon.

like shrink spell on a large bag of dust of dryness in bait >.>

Thats going to hurt...

And game is up:

link to another game

If you are set on 3.5 psionics, look at dreamscarred press psionics (it's the exact same thing), I may be willing to allow their psionics, however if I open that up for players, I will open it up for the dragons as well.

Not everyone will get in, as I think there is more interest than players, but we'll figure it out.

Re: D&D 3.5 Dragon Hunting Game

Also, note I have marked the game mature as there will be some gore and evil. If the players want to go adult we can.
