Exalted 2e + a non-level based fantasy game

Looking for both an Exalted 2e game with a friendly GM that likes to see the PCs shine. Then a second game that's a D&Desc setting (swords and magic, monsters and maidens) with a different more pbp friendly system that allows you to build your character outside of character levels or confined speedbumps.

I've recently had a slew of prickly GMs and I would like to have some relaxed fun where the idea is to show case the PC strengths and have cooperative teamplay while seeing an interesting story take place. I'm tired of fighting OOC.

I don't like a lot of political subterfuge, but if there's some I don't mind, as long as another PC is good at that and doesn't mind me taking their lead.

I like straight forward dramatic battles where the PCs are encouraged to become engaged, rather than skirt away from it. While I like some challenge, I'd like the challenges to be reasonably fit for the PCs and not terribly difficult to achieve, or something out of their element.

If it's not Exalted 2e, I'm open to systems as long as it's either free, or I can buy sufficient rules to play a well detailed character for about $20-$40.

Thanks for your consideration!

Point-buy fantasy game

Have you ever heard of Mutants and Masterminds?
They have a supplement called Wizards and Warriors or Warlocks or something.
Any who... if you build it, I will totally play. That is if anyone wants to try this out.

Point-buy fantasy game

I've never played M&M for very long, but just looking at the SRD it looks to play out like D&D in terms of action resolution. The char gen mechanics aren't level based but the encounter system (at first glance) seems about as constrained.

TBH I have a bad association with M&M. Nothing to do with the system, but my first experience with M&M the GM was a nightmare and enabled the players to systematically ostracize me and my character. It was a -10/10 experience. So I think trying a system other than M&M would help give me a fresh breath.

I have an Exalted 2e game IRL and would really like to maybe play one RPOL, in addition to a more "traditional" western fantasy game.

I don't know what your "Dawn Game" is, but I'm up for something prefab or homebrew. The modern one sounds okay, but I'd need some basis for the solar perception and the world's perception of them.

Let me know when such a game is created.

If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them. (:

Point-buy fantasy game

I've been playing some 2e Exalted face to face, and really hope to find some friendly players here to play with under a relaxed ST.

I have been tossing around a concept for a Solar game (and a circle of heroic characters first contact with Deathlords and their minions).  Are you just interested in solo play?

I'd prefer a group, but if you have a solo story planned, I would like to try that too.

So I'm still on the look out for a group Solar game, but I'll be looking into the link you provided. Thanks!

Are you looking for a big departure from the Exalted setting? Or just playing in some far off part of creation that happens to be Western Fantasy rather than eastern?

Re: Exalted 2e + a non-level based fantasy game

Actually neither, this was an Exalted centric request, but I'm looking for another game (in addition) which is non-level based. I have only played a few systems, but I'm sure there's a system out there that mechanically like Exalted (or BESM) but thematically like D&D.

I'm primarily interest in Exalted 2.5. I've played Exalted since early 1e. While a first age game is a novel idea to me, I've played quite a lot in the Age of Sorrows and explored 95%+ of the meta-plots. I enjoyed it immensely, so I wouldn't want a drastic departure into a Scion or D&D genre.

Sorry for the confusion.

These depend entirely on your qualifiers. BESM is technically a skin on a generic system (Tristat dX) so one could just use it to run a western high fantasy.

I'm fleshing out my Wiki for a game similar to that but using a different 'traditionally super hero but technically generic' system (Mutants & Masterminds) I can let you know when I start recruiting.

Re: Exalted 2e + a non-level based fantasy game

As I said, I haven't had the opportunity to play many systems. I agree BESM, like HERO, is generic system that can be tailored to most any genre. My qualifier is  that it isn't level based. I'm sure there are innumerous systems like this, but having only played a few, I drew parallels from what I knew.

I have had bad luck with M&M, TBH, but I'd be willing to give it another try, provided I can get (alot of) help with making my character.

Really, my hope is to have quick progression, a character learning skills and powers, gaining perks at frequent intervals. Not a lot, but something to keep the character growing. That's why I don't want a leveling system, but one where you can spend your XP/Char pts at irregular costs.

Theme-wise, I don't want something too challenging. If my character goes into every battle with chance to die, and every altercation with a chance to get incarcerated, I would be disappointed. I enjoy those types of games, but right now I just want something laid back and relaxed.

I'd like an activity that isn't too intensive, with players and a GM that are friendly and keen on working together. Mostly I just want to help create a narrative, with some dice mixed in to create some random elements of the characters and the story.

Like many stories that are in books and movies, the main characters don't often die. They have struggles, make sacrifices, and lose something on the journey. Maybe there's some tragedy and strife. The main characters in these books don't end up stagnant or dead though. The story follows them and their adventures.

I hope that makes sense. Maybe that's TMI, but I often find giving too much is better than not giving enough.
