Star Wars Force & Destiny

I'm hoping someone out there is willing to run a Force & Destiny game in the Rebellion Era.  Preferably including Jedi in the fight against the Empire or in life out on the edge...or both.

In the time I've been playing/running FFG's Star Wars line I haven't had the opportunity to play a Jedi and was hoping to scratch that itch.

I would love to join that game as a player! Everytime I try it the game dies for some reason :(

Star Wars Force & Destiny

I don't mind running things mechanically, but I'm a little short of ideas at the moment. (Sick. Brain fog.) Give me a few days to ponder and I'll see if I can come up with something.

That said, I want to play also. Maybe a game with rotating GMs?

Yeah, a little more detail can sometimes be exactly the spark it needs to launch a game.

How would you be a Jedi in the Rebellion Era?

At this point, it's pretty clear that a not insignificant number of Jedi survived the purge.  How would the Empire hunt down all 10,000 of them in a galaxy of hundreds of quadrillions of people?

Besides, the RPG is about fun and it's not canon anyhow.  Removing (or severely curtailing) an icon piece of Star Wars lore, the Jedi, from the most iconic and popular time period, the Rebellion Era, quickly fell apart once books started getting published.  Year after year more survivors cropped up.

Re: Star Wars Force & Destiny

An idea could be that one player could be a knight and other (wannabe)jedi learn from that player? I mean if there already are one jedi at place where you arrive, you will most likely seek that person out.

Re: Star Wars Force & Destiny

Cap, do you already have a character in mind that you want to play, or is it more nebulous at the moment?

Re: Star Wars Force & Destiny

I'm flexible.  Happy to fill in gaps within a party.  I'm happy to come up with a firm concept but wanted to pitch the game idea to see if there was any interest.

Re: Star Wars Force & Destiny

Here's a possible concept.

One of the players has been tracking down additional survivors (the other players) and they went off into the unknown regions or wild space to train and learn more about the Force.  Now (the beginning of the game) the party believes they have attained the needed training/experience to head back into the galaxy proper and begin a campaign to bring down the empire, beginning with low ranking officers and working their way up the ranks until they have to face Vader and Sidious.

The conceit here is that, just by its vary nature, the game would have to be an "alternate universe" game because Luke isn't going to be around to redeem Anakin and Anakin won't be redeemed to throw papa Palpatine down a pit.

The same concept could be used, though probably to less effect, if the party just never go to the point of having to deal with the Sith and, instead, were simply dealing with Imperial officers.

In reply to CaptainAmerica (msg # 10):

I personally believe that it's a mistake to remove the Skywalker, it's after all half of the Star Wars ;)

Re: Star Wars Force & Destiny

Yeah, true.  He could have turned and is a speed bump on the way to Vader.

But I don't care either way.  Jedi plus Rebellion is the point.  Anything else is secondary.

Re: Star Wars Force & Destiny

Good point, I have always loved the idea that the player can change för example the plot, or can be at places before the A-team...

Re: Star Wars Force & Destiny

Let's do this thing. I'll start up a game and we can discuss characters and overall plot lines there since I think players are more invested when they have some input into the overall direction of the game. :) I do like your concept, Cap-- it does have the Luke problem but as pointed out, there are ways to solve that.

Ed: Find here: link to another game Don't worry about characters yet, we'll discuss concepts as a group.
