Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil/WLD

Pretty much what the title says. Would need a DM who won't bail on me like the last one. I expect a lot of death, but that's just one of the hazards of the run.

I am actually interested in this concept, as I have an elemental cleric I would love to run through, having never gotten through more than a chapter of this module.

I don't think we ever made it passed the first floor honestly. Can't say that I really know that much about it, but it was fun while it lasted, and I think another go round is in order.

Count me in too. In fact, this is the build I'd go with. :)

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but this thread isn't for character creation, so please, keep it to yourself. You can express interest, and even brew your character in the shadows, but this is not the place to post them. Thank you!

So, it looks like there is at least three people interested, if perhaps a DM is out there interested in this idea?

I'd love to be a player as well I have never had a Gestalt game actually go anywhere so I'd love to give it a try if someone runs it!

Re: Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil

So that's 5 interested players for any potential DMs who might want to pick this up.

I'm not picky on starting levels, but I think a couple LA's for free would be awesome.

Would also be interested in a World's Largest Dungeon game. Not sure about the others though.

Re: Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil

In reply to kark2 (msg # 12):

I don't want to get your hopes up but I'm thinking about it. It is one of my favorite adventures, especially when you combine it with A1-4 and GDQ1-7. Though I'm not sure a game would last long enough to do all of those. Mapping might be hard as I don't have a scanner. I am considering the possibility.

I hope this doesn't violate the rules but I'd probably have the following house rules:

You would probably start off at 1st level, no LA.
Probably limit characters to 4 classes, no more than 1 of which can be a prestige class and probably no prestige class before 11th level.
Would probably use fractional progression for saves and BAB.
Max HPs (though in these adventures that is no guarantee you live).
These were some of the most dangerous adventures ever published so folks probably need an idea of a back up character, just in case.
36 point buy for ability scores.

Let me think about this a few days but let me know if you'd be interested in playing with such rules. (PS I know mentioning specific character builds here is a violation so try to avoid specifics like I want cleric-thief or something like that :) )

Re: Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil

As a general rule, most games do not last even enough to level up one time :)
Unless there are other offers, count with me.

I am still interested, though I hoping classes, feats, spells, etc... would be allowed from the other books.

In reply to DarthSelack (msg # 15):

Depends on the source I guess. I would probably be open to most things, except the Book of Swords and possibly Psionics, since I'm not very familiar with them, most anything else published by WotC would be allowed though. (3rd party on case by case).

So like Complete Arcane, Complete Divine, etc would be acceptable.

Re: Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil

Well, seeing as how you're the only potential DM to speak up thus far, I can't count out the possibility of trying it out. Worst comes to worst, I end up disliking it and I have to come back here to try again. So when you've made your mind up for sure, let me know!

I'm fine with first level, and the LAs weren't a breaking point for me, just a cool idea I saw in another game. As far as the classes go, I would hope that we could eventually do prestige classes on both sides, but that's something that we can work out later if we get that far.

Re: Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil

In reply to kark2 (msg # 17):

I'll try to have a decision in the next 24 hours for you guys.

The easiest way to incorporate Psionics is just make it another form of magic, with SR giving Psionic Resistance etc. Otherwise the original adventure is not written for someone with psionics as they were exceedingly rare in 1st Edition. (as in I think out of hundreds of characters I rolled up in the 80s only like 3 had Psionics)

My greatest problem with the Book of Swords is my unfamiliarity with it. I've heard it can be unbalancing but then again most things can be.

Kark which of those two is your main hangup?

Re: Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil

I have lurked this for a while, but I have to say that Power resistance is Spell Resistance. Magic can dispel psionics and psionics can dispel magic. Psionics can't be "counterpsionic" though, but I have never seen someone counterspelling either.
It is all part of the Magic-psionic transparency.

Psionics is not magic, but has similar rules and the transparency that Brisnoc said.
I am a psionic lover and evangelist :)

I have heard the contrary on Boook of 9 Swords: It gives balance to the poor melee combatants. But I have a hard time trying to understand it.

Re: Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil

I am not horribly offended by leaving those two books out, but I was thinking maybe Magic of Incarnum, the Completes, the Races of, and Dragon Magic.

Psionics are not too bad system wise, just generally more versatile.  Tome of Battle is...sometimes powerful, but the flavor can be incredible.

Re: Looking for Gestalt 3.5 Temple of Elemental Evil

I'm a big fan of ToB, and I think it can get a little ridiculous at high levels, but so can anything else. Psionics are fun, and seem to be pretty balanced to my knowledge along with not being horribly complicated.

Anyway, everything else here sounds fine, so just let us know either way!
