There is a Pathfinder-compatible campaign setting called Pure Steam which would combine those elements.

You could also use DragonMech. It's d20 and looks pretty cool.

Eberron for D&D also has a solid steampunk element.

This might not be exactly what you have in mind, however fantasy+steampunk characters would certainly have a place in this game I've been trying to gather interest in. Take a look and let me know.

I definitely can't speak to the genders of the players, but adding a little romance here and there would also be a fine addition to my idea.

Dragonmech was mentioned a few months ago.

I've had that book for ages but have never played it. I actually just recently started reading it over again. I might be able to run a game with those rules if anyone is interested.

I don’t know they system but like the ideas thrown out so far. I’ll find a copy and take a look at it.

Iron Kingdoms and Unity are a couple other games/systems that have steampunk as a feature, especially Iron Kingdoms.
