PbtA game BRONZE CIRCLE

I would like a GM please to run a game of Edwin Moriarty's PbtA RPG titled BRONZE CIRCLE... It's extremely grim and gritty... I've seen it described as "D&D meets the show THE WIRE."

If you don't know hardly anything about THE WIRE (I didn't), then let me say instead that BRONZE CIRCLE is basically about a gang of fantasy-trope characters in the worst part of the city, the part so bad that they don't even let you into the REAL city without some sort of day pass, and you living and surviving in that worst part of the city, very probably
--by doing crimes (but who the heck knows) but almost certainly
--by using ultra-violence (probably a lot), and absolutely guaranteed
--by using the threat of some seriously no kidding unpleasant ultra-violence (and probably some blackmail and worse), at the very least.

https://drive.google.com/file/...c0ZrM29vUFVGVTQ/view

I think it would obviously be best with a group, but heck I'll play solo if I have to (preferably I'd get to run more than one character, in that case)...

PbtA game BRONZE CIRCLE

I can't GM it, but I'd be happy to join in if you need players.

You would be welcome as far as I'm concerned... now we just need to find a reliable GM...

Re: PbtA game BRONZE CIRCLE

Wow, I had not seen Bronze Circle before. Looks... interesting. Intense. If I thought I could run it (if), it wouldn't be for a while yet, but if someone else does I'd certainly take a serious look.

So that sounds like (maybe?) 3 potential players... I hope that if we don't find a GM for a while yet, that you consider running it...

Re: PbtA game BRONZE CIRCLE

I've never played or gmed it before but I just read the pdf from cover to cover and think its pretty cool. If you can give a hand learning the rules as we go along I could run a game.
Story telling is the most important thing the MC/GM needs anyhow right???
I can tell as story.

Right before you-- less than 2 hours before, in fact-- someone else offered to GM-- after he finishes launching some games he's already got underway.

So, fellow would-be players... I ask you... do we give notkevin a shot? Or the person who offered first but can't do it right away...?

If no one offers their opinion, I'll offer mine, but I want to hear yours first.

ALSO: I tracked down the game's creator. He's in the hospital right now with health problems (a regular experience with him, it seems), but he said when he gets home (in less than a week, I hope?) to his home hard drive he would send me the 3 "extra" playbooks...

Re: PbtA game BRONZE CIRCLE

Personally, I think if one of the potential GMs has any PbtA experience, that might be the way to go. Nothing against new GMs, but this isn't a complete game--it's the beta of the nearly-complete basics of a game. It doesn't actually tell you how to run PbtA, which is important. And since it is a beta and might need a tweak here or there, experience with similar game engines would also be useful for that.

Re: PbtA game BRONZE CIRCLE

totally agree!!
I don't have any prior experience with pbta.
Happy to be a player and get some, if the other fella can run us a game..

if we are stuck with nobody I'm still game to try. I guess I can try to learn more about PbtA elsewhere on the big wide web

Re: PbtA game BRONZE CIRCLE

He says: "I don’t have any with bronze circle or pbta 2nd edition, but I have quite a bit with the 1st edition. GM-wise I’ve always been more of a 'run with the players thoughts and input and have an overarching plot' and all the small stuff is off-the-cusp, based on player actions and input."
