Solo Supervillain Game

Supervillains fail. It's what they do. The villain can't take over or crash the moon into the Earth or blow up the sun. Many have tried but they always fail. There is always a hero or team that steps up and saves civilization at the 11th hour, foiling the villain and forcing him to flee into exile.

But then what? It is inevitable that in a couple of years the super villain will rise again to attack when the heroes least expect it but what is that story that happens between the fall and rise of the super villain?

The thought I had was a super villain who had just failed on his evil plot to take over the world. He is an "ordinary" villain in that he doesn't have special powers but he had a doomsday laser and an army of minions and a volcano base and yet was still defeated by a hero or hero team. In the process everyone thought he died but he spent the last X period of years licking his wounds. Now that the world has pretty much forgotten about him he is deciding to become active again.

The game would ultimately be focused on a plot to take down the hero(es) that foiled him. On this note I am prepared to fail yet again if it ever gets that far.

How would be dependent on the heroes but the idea I had was the "assemble the super villain team" kind of plot. He would have to track down and win over/kow other super villains without alerting the heroes to what he was doing.

He would need to acquire resources, technology and a base of operations without alerting the heroes. He would have to deal with traitors and nosy reporters or overenthusiastic cops. He would have shadow wars with other villains who think that he isn't the high class villain everyone thought he was etc.

System & Setting: GM's choice. I'm down for most anything but given the setting a system like M&M or Champions or GURPs etc. might make the most sense.

Setting I am up for anything.

Solo Supervillain Game

This positively screams for Perfect Unrevised... the PDF of which is now available for free at https://buriedwithoutceremony.com/perfect.

Perfect, Unrevised is a game about criminals within a Dark Victorian dystopia. It’s about what makes them tick, the crimes they commit, the goals they strive for, and the persecution they may well face. This society is perfect. Except for you.

quote:
"Your crimes are automatic — you don’t try to commit crimes, you commit crimes. Rebellion, ultimately, is the easy part. It’s afterwards where the game puts its full weight and attention, as play and system revolve around the questions of "Do you get caught?" and "What do they do to you?"

You’ll like this game if: you want to fight the man (but understand that it might hurt), you adore the rebel spirit, you like intensely antagonistic games, you want to tell stories about mindfruiting hypnotists, you want to tell stories about secret societies, you want a rigidly-structured game.

quote:
“It’s like Kafka and Charlotte Bronte had children, and those children wrote Blade Runner.”

Solo Supervillain Game

In reply to praguepride (msg # 2):

Hello.

I'm planning to reboot/relaunch a supers game I was running here for a few years.  It would be sandbox/semi-interconnected solo games.  I think I can work with what you've got outlined.

I won't be launching the game until late June/early July though.

If you want to discuss the concept and decide if you'd like to work with me on a game, shoot me a PM.

Thanks.
