New species:
quote:
Blood Carver, Clawdite, Falleen, Gand, Jawa, Ryn, Toydarian and Ubese
I'm assuming the Jawa will be the same as the stats already published online, but the others will be interesting to see, particularly Clawdites (shapechangers, as seen in Episode II) and Falleeen. I'm assuming Toydarians will have a significant bonus (+5) to their Will defense against mind-affecting abilities, or something like that. Never heard of Blood Carvers or Ryn, however - anyone care to enlighten me? :-)
And, concerning Jawas, and their new stats as opposed to the ones from the conversion document, I'll quote SWSE game designer Rodney Thompson (who has the most awesome job, ever! :p):

To be honest, I didn't even look at the guide when doing the Jawa stats; the goal is to make the species presented in the "full" format as playable as possible.

New talent trees for all base classes, with an entirely new tree provided for the Noble (Disgrace) as well. In particular, the Brawling and Weapon Specialist trees for Soldiers, the Fortune and Misfortune trees for Scoundrels and the Camouflage and Fringer trees for Scouts receive a fair amount of additions, with the Inspiration, Slicer, Spacer and Jedi Sentinel trees also receiving some attention.
I'm not sure how to read the first line - first, it says that all base classes gets new talent trees, then it specifies that the Noble gets an entirely new tree... does this mean that nobles get two new talent trees, or that they are, in fact, the only ones getting a brand new tree?
I was hoping to see additions to the Smuggler tree out of TFU, but from what I've read here, I'm pretty excited about the new talents. It's also stated in the post that apart from the Jedi Sentinel talents, there's nothing Force-related in the book, which is rather refreshing, as a good deal of my favorite Star Wars characters were just plain old scoundrels. :p

Skills receive new uses, with Deception including Cheat (for gambling) and Mechanics including Booby trap as a few examples.
Yes! Cheating at gambling! Awesome! :D

27 new feats--of particular note are shape shifting feats for Clawdites (allowing them to change their size, adopt hideous appearances as a Will attack, etc.) and the Superior Tech feat which allows you to create items with even better bonuses than those provided by the Tech Specialist feat. Other feats include Deadly Sniper, Burst of Speed, Resurgence and Collateral Damage.
Looks good to me - want some more info, and I'm hoping there are more non-combat feats in here, too.

Prestige Classes: Ace Pilot, Bounty Hunter, Crime Lord, Master Privateer and Gunslinger receive additions to their talent trees with some new ones tossed in as well. Three new classes are introduced: the Assassin (which includes a sniping/assassination tree and a Genoharadan tree that imposes fear/demoralization penalties on enemies), Charlatan (which has a Trickery tree to distract and ambush foes) and Outlaw (which has the Outlaw tree that contains a number of combat options).
Looking good - I like the new prestige classes, though I think Bounty Hunter could double pretty well for Assassin, really. Interesting to see a non-core prestige class (Master Privateer, TFU) get new talents, as well.

Chapter 2: Outlaw Tech—information on upgrading equipment, which is based upon assigning slots to gear and allowing characters to fill them in with enhancements, some of which are universal (Cloaked, Spring-loaded, etc.), some weapon-based (Rangefinder, Sniper Switch, etc.) and some armor-based (Holoshroud, Shadowskin, etc.). There are also plenty of new armor and weapon options to equip your characters with. Following this is a lengthy section on customizing ships, with lists on starship systems available and rules on upgrading which can result in some unreliable systems that produce glitches and so-forth Millennium Falcon-style.
...awesome! Assuming this is all balanced, it'll be a great addition to the game. :-)
quote:
Chapter 3: Fringe Campaigns--a lengthy section on running fringe campaigns—adventure and campaign ideas and so forth. All about the fluff.
I'm a fan of these fluff-heavy chapters, so thumbs up here!
quote:
Chapter 4: Fringe Elements—NPCs of note (Zam Wessell, Tyber Zann, Prince Xizor, etc.), Organizations and new Archetypes.
I know some people on the WotC forums will have you believe that stats for a named NPC are useless, since they will rarely (if ever) show up in your games - I say, nonsense! Sure, I might not ever use Zam Wessell - but if her stats are decent enough, I might just nab them for another Clawdite bounty hunter/assassin instead, and just change the name. The less work I have to do making stat-blocks, the better.
New organizations = yay! :D
quote:
Chapter 5: Point Nadir—all about a shadowport game masters can use in their own campaigns. NPCs and even some new species are introduced.
As mentioned earlier - fluff-heavy chapters are good with me.
quote:
Chapter 6: Mini-adventures—as advertised.
Chapter 7: The Fell Star—an included adventure which involves Point Nadir.
Adventures = good. They make it easier for new GMs to get started, and even if I don't plan on running them myselves, I like reading adventures, as they help me plan out my own, give me thoughts on what to do and not to do, etc.
