Re: General OOC

I'll go ahead and snag the first post by a player. Yay me...

It's good to see something like this around. I'm also a member on the SWd20 community and am glad to see this set up for the Saga Edition.

I'm a huge star wars fan and have been for a long time. I've got a large collection of books (as shown in one of the other threads) and love reading the novels in the Expanded Universe. I've been playing SW since the first release of the d20 game shortly after the release of Episode I: The Phantom Menace. I absolutely love Saga Edition and what they've done with the game mechanics.

Thank you, that is nice to hear.  I did check out the SWd20 community myself, but since I don't have any interest in the RCR rules, and feel that running games using two different systems in one community would be a mess, I figured it would be just as good to start a new one here.  There is no reason why RPoL cannot support both communities, of course - there's even one for the d6 rules by WEG around, after all.  I'm going to PM the GMs over there, see if we can't get something worked out - having one community for Saga and another for RCR would be great as long as there are still players wanting to play both games.

Re: General OOC

I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, I'm afraid, but it is something that I enjoy.

It was GM Palpatine who got me into Saga, and back into Star Wars, by the way he keeps banging on about it. :p

Hi all!

Another Player here. I like Starwars, but my knowledge isn't the greatest. I'm learning all the time.

Re: General OOC

GM Palpatine is who has gotten me into this, too.  Though I do watch Star Wars for my young son who loves the movies.  Mostly I'm a DnD kinda girl, but I'm learning more about SW all the time.

Anyway...

Welcome everybody.  :)

Re: General OOC

I'm the kind of person who enjoyed star wars, but never got obsessed, then got spammed by Palpatine until I gave in and said 'okay, okay, I'll read the comics'. hehe. Now look where I ended up. >>

Re: General OOC

Spotted the blurb about SWSEC in the Players Wanted section and figured I'd hang out.  As a brief introduction, I've been playing RPG (paper-n-pencil and computer) for around 20 years now...systems have varied considerably (Shadowrun, Exalted, oWoD, DnD (various editions), L5R and so on) and most of the time I end up GMing for my local group.

I'm no Star Wars Fanatic, but I do think it is a very cool setting and story.  I've dabbled with each of the various published SW RPG game systems and have played several of the computer games.  I recently picked up SAGA edition and have been quite impressed so far...to the point of starting to badger my face-to-face group to let me 'resurrect' the SW campaign I ran for them a while back converted over to SAGA.

Re: General OOC

Regarding the couple of games that the GMs are starting...is the general preference at this point that players pick one game and play in it or can you play in more than one?  The Mandalorian gamble sounds like an interesting idea but I would not mind a chance to play DoD before running for my local crew.

Re: General OOC

Since the ratio of players-to-games is bound to be high, I'd like to limit people to playing one character each for now.

As for the Mandalorian Gamble, I'll keep submissions open until Saturday, at which point it will begin play.  Assuming PCs keep showing up the way they have so far, I'll begin advertising for a second game on Sunday, so the people who don't get in this time around will get a second chance, and because I'm really excited about running games here.  :-)

Re: General OOC

For now we would appreciate you only playing in one game.  As time goes on and we get more GMs and can expand, then we will increase the limit to playing in two games.

Don't take on too much, silly Palpatine.  Besides, you can't teach me how to GM in SW if you don't keep a bit of time open for me.  :p

Re: General OOC

Hello, all.  I've been a fan of Star Wars roleplaying since back in the West End day, and I very much like Saga edition.  I prefer my games set in the Rebellion era or Tales of the Jedi/Kotor era.  I'm currently planning a campaign that will be based in the KOTOR era, 200 years after the events of KOTOR 2, tentatively entitled "The Ascent of Mandalore."

I'm also considering running a Rebellion era game, as well. I usually like to run in an Infinities style, eliminating the stars of the movies and having PCs fill their roles.

Re: General OOC

Hey!  Just joined the community.  I've never been particularly fond of SE, but I think that's mainly because I tried making characters left and right before actually playing in a game.  The way the Force powers worked threw me off, and I just abandoned it.  Kinda sad, really.  So, because I really don't want to lose a perfectly good game just based on shock, here I am!

Re: General OOC

Good morning, campers!  Or evening.  Whichever it is, I'm a die-hard SW fan, I've seen every movie except the new Clone Wars (still debating whether or not I want to see it), and have read all but a few books in the EU.  That's not to say I remember all of it, but I can at least give you a general timeline of the EU if asked.

I'm in five different PbP Star Wars games, mainly because there aren't any good groups up here in AK.

Hi there guys, as you see I have a GM tag so I will be one of the people doing the evil deed of throwing adversaries in your way, if you join a Game I rule.

Just wanted to inform you and introduce myself.

On the 'topic' of the Clone Wars Movie:
I'll go for it this Saturday and hope it will be what I think it is.

By the way: Mandalorians are true

So, I've gone through all the posts on here, and haven't seen an explanation of how XP works in this group.  Either of the GM's care for a bit of enlightenment?

Re: General OOC

XP works just as normal. At the moment, we're only allowing one character each, but that may be expanded later as the community grows.

Characters earn XP within their games through GM awards, for combat or whatever, as usual.

Players can also earn XP for stuff like birthdays, or - depending on how things work out - for doing certain things to help the GMs run the community. This XP joins a floating pool that can be spent on any of the player's characters, but requires the player to run their use of the XP past the GM of the character they wish to apply it to.
