Huh, this space doesn't see much use anymore, :(  I personally do not like the new system but it seems that most people do.

I have a question.  I built a droid that is trying to use heavy weapons.  What feats and talents do whoever is still here think would be best?

Well, it's hard to sustain a game. Even harder to sustain one with forward progress. It's nearly impossible to get any leveling done.

There are still a few SWSE games ongoing link to "&gm=" but the publisher is not there anymore.
However, under the specific point of view of publishing adventures and campaigns ready to play, there was never a huge support.

This isn't entirely true... granted for 95% of Pbp games its pretty accurate but an exceptional GM can make this not so.

I have been in a Hackmaster game on Myth–Weaver (first Pbp game I have played not on Rpol in almost 20 years).

The GM set a daily posting rate to which most players abide by, but when a player is absent play does not stop...  The GM moves it forward assuming an action for the missing players characters or the other players NPC the missing characters dislogue... we all have given permission for this...  forward progress is valued more than waiting for people to post for days on end... we started at level 1 not even a month and a half ago and my Dwarven Berzerker Cleric is one encounter away from 7th level.

Granted its a different genre but pbp is pbp so that doesn't really matter... the Gm sets the pace and as long as they are committed to it then there is always progress.

Best game I've played in 30+ years of RPG's

Hi there. New player signing in for the first time.

Is there much of a player base for the Star War Saga rules on RPOL? I'm considering starting a game and this system seems like a good option as all character creation information is available online.

Just remember leveling up is horrifyingly slow on Rpol, so if you want Jedi Knights, you'd have to start people at level 8 (7/1, probably)

Here link to "&gm=" you can see the SWSE games currently ongoing on RPoL: there is some activity, although not as massive as for other rulesets.
My experience when I look for players is that sometimes you can find too many, sometimes too little. Not sure why.
The bottom line is that I suggest you try and see what happens.

The popularity of Star Wars saga games isn’t going to change now its out of print and that newer games are out. If you are looking for a Star Wars game where the rules are available online you could also look at West End Games Star Wars, everything is available to download at www.d6holocron.com

Progress and levelling can be slow on pbp games but I don’t think it’s a problem to start at level 1. In Star Wars saga characters begin in my opinion fairly powerful and a level 1 Jedi can act like a Jedi Knight without much imagination being used, there wasn’t really anything Obi Wan did in The New Hope which a level 1 Jedi couldn’t have a go at.

From a story point of view, I wouldn't let a level 1 Jedi out of the temple. They've got tests enough to get to level 2 before you leave home. On the other side, a level 7 Jedi probably isn't far from the temple either, he's undergoing the trials, finishing them gets him to level 8 and Knighthood.

Also, I am heartily sick to death of level 1 games in any genre and avoid them.

The level of a character is an abstract game concept, for me that shouldn't impede the game. So in your game you can call level 1 Jedi knights if you want.

However if you don't enjoy level 1 games, you play how you want to play. Every table plays by its own rules.

No level 1s, however, unless I'm also playing a padawan for my level 8.

Does anyone have a simple RPOL Saga edition character sheet that they could share with me? I've looked through the RPOL gaming resources thread and there is a very complicated one that looks fantastic but is probably going to confuse less RPOL code savvy players.

Does anyone know what dating system should be used for campaigns set prior to BBY 0?

The campaign I'm setting up starts in BBY 3, 16 years after Order 66, but what year would that be called as the Battle of Yavin and the destruction of the first Death Star hasn't happened yet?

I'm not sure: did you have a look in the Wookiepedia?
In the Cularin system (where I'm running my current SW campaign) they had a bespoke system that is substantially based on when the system was "discovered" (A.A = After Artiom - see http://wiki.rpol.net/71689).

Any news of GM Peace? It looks like he disappeared with no notice from RPoL in April :(
He was running the biggest (for number of posts) SWSE campaign on RPoL link to another game
