Re: Bringin' in the Herd

James E. Beauregard:
"The major requests your presence at the gathering over yonder. I reckon you're not too keen on the idea, but I think it best to clear your name now. You did no wrong under the circumstances and I'll stand by you. Shall we go?"

"The Major sighted on me. And just what the fuck about my name needs clearing? Feels like a right proper buggering heading my way.

I'll agree with the understanding that an attack on one o'us is an attack on all o'us, and we come out blazing. . . Major too, if it comes to that."

Artemus looks JEB square in the eyes for an indication that his friend agrees and then proceeds with him.

Re: Bringin' in the Herd

Ayasha looks up at the man who is asking about his friend. "He is good for now.", she says, her hands all bloody from her frantically working with Cole to stop the bleeding. "But he is not out of the woods yet, and I cannot tell you whether he will make it or not. I do not know if I would be able to get the bullet out without killing him to be honest."

In reply to Ayasha (msg #920):

Cole looks at Ayasha, and nods to the stranger in agreement.

We have a medical kit back at the camp. We will need that. Reckon it should be brought here, though. Moving him right now is probably not such a great idea. He is not in great shape.

He returns his gaze to Ayasha and gives her a slight nod.

You do good work.

Excuse me JEB, I heard a horse winny when Art shot. My round misfired, that puts you In the calaboose.  God knows why you'd turn yourself in for returning fire but I'll be proud to ride with you as long as we bring the man who instigated this...

The Major whispers to Randy after JEB rides out.

He looks a little surprised by Sunday's statement when JEB and Art Carson ride back to the group.

"Let me handle this, Travis," he says.

Re: Bringin' in the Herd

Fielder and his men listened to Cole and Ayasha. They all seem concerned about their friend Henry, but they also continue to keep an eye on the Buffaloes, with glances to the west toward their cattle. Jacob answered Cole.

"We'll leave him here until we can get a hold of a doctor--or you fetch your kit."

When JEB and Art return, Fielder draws near. He listens to Travis and shakes his head. Upon hearing the Major, he responds.

"What do you propose?" he asks, meeting the Major's eye.

Major Gray directs Amatella toward John Fielder.

"Let's have a private word,"
he answers, continuing to ride past Fielder. Much like most of the Buffaloes would do when given an order by the Major, Fielder turns and follows. The men ride out of earshot.

Re: Bringin' in the Herd

In reply to Judge Messalen (msg #927):

Travis tips his hat slightly greeting his newly arrived companions.

Randy.  Art.

In a conversational tone not meant for the other riders to hear...

I'm not sure what they're discussing but as far as I see it, we'll never know what Spencer knocked down that fellow.  We'll also never know why five men chose to shoot into us without warning instead of driving off two head of cattle.  So let me be crystal clear, gentleman, There will be no law involved in this unfortunate incident.  JEB may survive a trial but we're sure as hell not sending a foreigner in front of a hanging judge.  If anyone is to be held to account it's Fielder.

Not that it matters, but which one of you hit Henry.  I couldn't tell.  Too dark.  Too much going on.

Travis opens his Starr and reloads one round.  The misfire he quickly determines will take some effort to dislodge later. He reminds himself to keep the misfired cartridge and compare it against others in his possession, to make sure he didn't buy a bad lot of ammo.

Re: Bringin' in the Herd

Artemus see the man down and Ayasha  beside him. “I’ve got a kit, might be able to help him. No guarantees of course. It’s in my saddle bag.”

OOC: While Art is at the saddlebag there is a moment for Travis’ statement, if it pleases the Judge.

He turns and extracts the kit from his saddlebag and kneels beside the man. Opening the kit he says to Ayasha, "You want to have another go or shall I?"

Without leaving the injured man, Cole turns his gaze to Jacob.

Not my kit to fetch. It belongs to the Major. It will be up to him if we can use it for this here man.

But, none of us here are doctors. Be a good idea to fetch one, right quick.

Kit or no kit, this man needs a doctor.

Re: Bringin' in the Herd

Ayasha takes the offered medical kit and rummages through it with her left hand, while her right hand is still holding something together within the wound of the fallen man. "I wish I had my herbs, but this will have to do.", she mutters, with only those closest to her able to understand.

OOC: Ayasha rolled 12 using 1d20+9. Treat Injury: Restore Grit.

She looks a little worried, trying to place a bandage without letting go, it does not seem to work. She tries a different approach.

OOC: Ayasha rolled 17 using 1d20+9. Treat Injury: Restore Grit (trying again.

This seems to work better.

OOC: The judge needs to tell me if this brings Henry back to positive grit.

Aid another roll for her first attempt:

Aid another roll for her attempt:
08:13, Today: Artemus Carson rolled 7 using 1d20+2. Aid another in treating Injury.

Re: Bringin' in the Herd

OOC: Ayasha must first "Revive Dazed, Stunned or Unconscious Character." The Judge is applying the rolls by Art and Ayasha to that check.
------------------

Jacob, after watching Artemus deliver his own medical kit to the Indian woman, seems about to speak, but instead just shakes his head, looking for a moment like Fielder when the rancher did the same in response to one of Travis Sunday's comments. Jacob continues to watch the woman work, saying nothing to Carson.

The man with the Spencer and the cowboy that Randy saw herding the renegades are still mounted and alert.

Under the care of the Cheyenne, the cowboy named Henry starts to blink his eyes and come 'round. When she looks up, Ayasha sees that Jacob and the other cowboy that had lifted Henry down are staring at her. Jacob nods. "Thank you."

"Stay with him," Jacob says to his pard. He walks over to his horse, guiding it toward the man with the Spencer.

Major Gray and John Fielder haven't returned, yet.

Re: Bringin' in the Herd

He says "I have a bandana we can use." He walks to his saddlebag looking in it for the bandana.

He extracts the bandana and holds it up, where upon he mounts Caliber.

Tossing the bandana to Ayasha he says to Jacob, "He'll live, but he needs to see a doctor."
