Chapter 2.7: Exam 2
Nori turned her head and looked over at Nanami when she saw her heat it up and hold it towards the man's eye. "Um, Nanami. Wait. You really aren't going to use that, are y-" she began to say before she heard Sima's voice come over the intercom telling them they failed the test because they fight work as a team to get the information. She loosened her hold on the man's wrists and looked down at him. She lightly sighed, but before she could speak, she could hear the door slam and lock behind them. It was then that they felt an electric shock that coursed through her body. It felt like forever, but it only lasted ten seconds before it stopped. It was enough, though. She held onto the edge of the chair as she slowly stood up from the ground in time to hear Nanami tell them that her and Sigmund needed to put aside their differences.
It was just as she was about to say something that she heard Sigmund speak up and naturally he blamed it on her. "Of course you're going to blame this on me to make yourself feel justified. I think out of between the two of us, you're the one that needs to grow up," Nori said with a scowl. "I'm willing to take the blame and own up to things I may have said or done that effected our results for this test, but I'm still not going to let you think it's okay for you to belittle me and treat me like I'm beneath you, Sigmund. We're all in the same boat right now and not one of us is better than the other, but we're all part of this team and we all have strengths that we can contribute. As a leader, you're supposed to inspire Nanami and I to do better and as a team, we all need to bring out the best, not the worse, in each other. I'm willing to put everything aside and focus on what matters: passing these exams." Nori turned on her heel and made her way over to Sigmund before she stopped a few feet in front of him.
"Look, Sigmund. Ever since we were kids, I've looked up to you. You were strong. You were smart. And you were the most knowledge hungry person I knew. I was so proud to be your friend, but we're older now and although you choose not to be my friend anymore, I have to respect that. I am going to let go of the past and stand on my own two feet. I just ask that as your teammate, you treat me with a little bit of respect and make me feel like I am apart of this team. Don't just dismiss me and what I have to say because I do matter. If you can do those things, I will follow you as a leader until the end," she said and held out her hand to Sigmund. "Deal?"
