Arc 2: Chapter 1: New Beginnings - Izalith
*Uchiha Estate*
Sigmund had walked quietly to his home, his mother in tow and his step father right behind her. The crowded academy grounds was like a disastrous family reunion. While he did what he could, his friends weren't going to be very forgiving and any chance to rekindle any of it was slim. He shook the feeling off. You apologized. That's what matters. he told himself. His brows furrowed toegther as the thoughts raced through his head. He knew he was going to keep his distance, likely returning to the old Sigmund of the past, a Sigmund he thought he had grown out of. He sighed as he kept hearing their footsteps behind him. "I thought I was free to walk alone?" he commented as they made their way past the estate entrance. He had came to a stop, hands in his pockets, his hair over his eyes, a tad annoyed.
Akasumi had kept her distance and kept her eyes on Sigmund. Kotatsu wasn't going to be a threat any longer as long as his chakra was sealed away. Sigmund on the other hand could be unpredictable. While Sasuke and her decided to cut Sigmund off from any Uchiha bloodline, it was still a worry. He could snap any day, any moment. Had the darkness finally disappear? Would it come back? Was the worst over? Akasumi had to always be prepared, whether everyone deemed it safe or not. Her husband remained by her side, fidgeting with his new radio. He made occasional comments about how far technology had evolved and how surprised he had become of everything. Shi had always been a village man, never a city man. Everything was still new and exciting. Their other son, Yami, had enjoyed the city life much more than Shi and Akasumi did. Akasumi hated city life; it was crowded, dirty, and harder to manage. They came to stop when Sigmund commented on following him.
"Free to walk alone when you leave the island. You are still under my supervision until then," she answered. Sigmund had merely grunted before they all sat in their estate courtyard under the only cherry blossom tree garden on the island. "Something on your mind?" Akasumi asked.
Sigmund had remained quiet as they felt the air rustle around them, his hair blowing with the wind, his eyes barely meeting with Akasumi. "Yeah. I can't wait to get off this island finally," he stated. "I'm ready to get back to work and I'm ready for this war to be over," he added.
Shi began chuckling with delight as he looked at Sigmund. "You think it's that simple?" Shi questioned. "This war is far from over, my boy. You say this now because you're an adolescent still, but when you're actually losing friends, comrades that you have known your whole life, then you'll understand why this isn't easy," Shi fired at him. "You think you're a hot shot because you have two rare bloodlines? Well I hate to break it to you, son, but you're not," he added as he stood up. "Look around you. How many lives can you count right now that have already perished because of this war? How many years do you think all the previous wars took? War doesn't just go away in the blink of an eye. You must work at it. You must be apart of those winning forces so you have something to come back to," he snapped as he got to his feet. "You're not the big bad wolf, Sigmund. You're nothing but ordinary!" he fired as Akasumi got to her feet as Sigmund rose and the two men got into each other's face.
"Say that again to my face," Sigmund barked, their foreheads touching. You could see the tension between the two alpha wolves fighting for their dominance.
"Shi. That was uncalled for," Akasumi said as she placed her hand on Shi's shoulder, pulling him back. "Talk a walk. Now." she ordered as Shi backed up and huffed under his breath, walking away.
"Yeah, that's what I thought you f-" Sigmund had been interrupted when Akasumi slapped him. "Silence!" Sigmund growled under his breath before jumping from the porch and heading outside of the estate. "I got to go. I have to pack," he uttered before jumping onto the roof of their home and through the window to his room, packing the gear he was going to need. All Akasumi could do was watch as she paid attention to Shi walking away.
