Some ideas:

-Show actual salvage from the game (such as alchemical silver).
--Some salvage actually used for NON recipe reasons. Examples:
  Character looks at "watch" and says, "hmm... according to my temporal analyzer.."
  Someone uses a Photonic Weapon to blast someone with, oh, photons?
  Actually WEAR halloween costume parts such as Statesman Mask.
   ....how DOES a Hammidon costume look?
  "This cloth is woven from the strands of fate"
  Emmy uses a Holographic Memory device to store experiences as a journal
  Someone wearing a Good Luck Charm as a ring.
  Use never-melting ice to keep drink cold. (Thanks, Joe!)

-Emerald starts as just some fox with the power to speak any language?
--If so, learns her in-game powers from knowledge (Archmage reason?)
-Open doors to reveal pile of enemies waiting there. Everyone sweatdrops for a panel, then unloads chaos.

-Check exploration badges for locales. Example: Tiki Lounge in Mercy Island.


ISSUES:
 -The fight between Angel and Gadget Gun.
 -A Freak tank rezes, gets bonked HARD, so another freak plays dead.
 -Some heroes chat about how Statesman is dead. Right in front of Statesman.

  I guess your outline Idea means Emerald would start as a NPC Contact that you run into during later missions with powers once they gain them/come to accept them Ala Faultline?

  Some slight self awareness might help with your intentions, especially in the Crafting/Enhancements end of things.  Tech Grenades=More accurate punches?  Two bits of high tech items = Damage enhancement for your magical powers?  Of course, you know me and how one of my 'why do I obsess over this so much?' things in city are people picking Origins willy nilly with no resemblance to their typed up origin at all.

  Ancient Diety unleashed from hell Demons/Thermal Mastermind!... Tech origin.
  Mutant Cyborg with tragic past Dual Pistols/Traps corruptor!... Magic origin.

  I know I agonized over 'what origin type?' for Alloy (Robot with Magic Earth powers and Tech sonic), to the point of logging into Virtue server just to ask their help channel.

  I'm okay with more vague things.  like, Transformers, Or Gadget Gun would totaly good for both Tech and Natural (as Transformer=their "species", And gadgets+guns fall under the normal guy with some toys area.).

all looks like fon stuff.  perhaps consider something a bit more bite-sized like mini comics.  an issue could be a couple pages or even a couple panels rather than the "standard" comic length (whatever that is).

Counterpoint, being unable to find doors in Brickstown.  (Where there are also Crey Snipers.)

Clearly you need to combine both these annoyances, Snipers and getting lost in Bricks, into a single comic.

The mission where Emerald met herself from another dimension, who then died to save Paragon City.

Died fighting a million color flipped versions of you, and won.

Karynne (John's character):
Chemical spell/experiment/what have you results in her appearance.
Took added resilience to try protecting the town.
Assault Rifle / Fire / Flight / Leadership (and eventually munition mastery)
Me: "Leadership indicates an alpha personality at least a little"
John: "Pretty much, yeah"

Mina (Raikoo's character):
-Bit by radioactive fox when she was little. Otherwise, has normal parents and such.
Koo: "Since her encounter with the fox in question happened when she was a little kid, I picture her as kind of a quiet and reserved type? Yearning to have friends but because of the way she was treated by non-parents, she was left to be a loner. (Which at least gave her plenty of time to study and work on robotics and such) She's not shy though, just overly cautious in trusting others."
Me: "She have a fear of foxes or overcame that?"
Koo: "She doesn't fear them. She used to hate them, but as she grew and was able to understand things better she hated only the one that had bitten her, and eventually she let go of that hate because now it was way too late to do anything about it anyway, so hating the fox was kind of pointless"
Koo: "She looks young, being 4ft whatever it was that she was but she in her early twenties so she is an adult at least"
Me: "So she had a picked-on background, but otherwise loved and cared for properly?"
Koo: "Picked-on even beaten by other kids. Her parents did what they could to raise her well. Her other family, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc were always 'too busy' to help out or give her much of any attention one way or another."
Koo: "Only child too, if that ever comes up."

Issue one is starting in Outbreak. The only hard part is figuring out how to get the reader to the part where the heroes approach Officer Flint. As you both remember, you just spawn there and it's obvious you go talk to him. But what happened to get your hero to that parking lot he's in? Well here's some thoughts.

Possible intros to the comic:

1) First thought was to just start where the game starts. The heroes run up to Flint: "Officer! I heard there was an incident here?" and then Flint gives the blood sample to the heroes.

2) Second thought was the heroes have just chased down a badguy (likely one of the contaminated) and tackle him before he can get flint.

3) A contaminated dies in front of Flint, he collects the blood sample and then he spots the heroes coming and asks them to take the blood sample to Dr Miller.


At this point, my leaning is the first one because the other options feel like more effort. But the downside of the first one is it feels like it's less dynamic than the other two. Anyway, lemme know what you guys think.

I like a combo of 2 and 3.  Hero didn't defeat the guy, just saw the guy collapse.  Officer is performing first aid and that's why he's too busy to do the blood sample errand run.

  Crude humor would suggest 'hey remember that barfing everywhere idle animation of some of the contaminated?'  being where they REALLY got the sample.  But let's not start a comic out with projectile vomiting.  That's for when the Vahzilok (Caaaant spell) show up.

  Option 1 could also just involve flint pointing at the 100+ whacked out of their minds on riti drugs water only held back by their inability to work out chain link fences.

Fun things I plan to do as part of exploring EVERY aspect of CoX in the comic:

Have the badges.
Example: Doc Whedon badge (in Perez Park)
"This old dock used to be the most popular make-out spot in Paragon City. Today, however, it is more a place of violence than love."

So there will be a scene where Emerald looks at the dock, has a flashback to kissing her first boyfriend, then flashes back to the present to see its un-used and ghost-townish state.

At some point, show the non-exploration badges as physical badges. Whether I show 'em pinned on the characters, or behind glass in the SG base.

The journey.
Some memories of CoX include things like flying that HUGE length in Independence Port for the cape mission. Anyone who played the game past level 20 had experienced that.

Other ideas on that include things like constantly landing in the hospital (could be one of the mini issues like the Angel v GG fight).

Incidental in-game things that weren't necessarily on purpose.

As mentioned in the first post of this thread. Not mentioned was the fact this ACTUALLY happened in game. For some reason, a minor glitch occurred that made it look like a freak just played dead so we would ignore him.

Other glitches include ragdoll mechanics. Which I could have someone comment on as a "joke" or exaggeration. "I heard Emerald hit that Skull so hard, his torso wrapped around a hand rail, slid down, then shot off like a rubber band!" Speaking of...

Hero praise!
Something I never took for granted was the random passers by saying things like "Look! It's really Mittens! With heroes like her around, I feel safe in this city!"

This sign found all over Paragon City could be the focal point of a racist uprising that leads to anyone not human being told "go home" or whatnot, presumed to be aliens. Less extreme types will still wind up bringing the hate on any actual aliens (leaving alone the non-humans who are actually from Earth).

Events
Totally need a winter event comic. But Joe points out a good point; no skis at the ski resort. Torn on whether to stay true to that or just give people skis.

Also should do Valentine Event comic. Have the good guys and bad guys getting along for the sake of "love". Maybe even have a hero/villain romance between someone like Angel and Timothius.

Halloween event! Have Liberty dressed up as the statue of liberty! :)
