6 Knuckle: BESTIARY
Pathfinder
CR 1.
Includes things like:
horse [AC 11, hp 15, Melee 2 hooves –2 (1d4+1) ]
Orog [AC 18, hp 23, Melee greataxe +5 (1d12+4) ]
Gnoll [AC 15, hp 11, Melee spear +3 (1d8+3/x3) ]
pretty massive difference there in difficulty. Assuming a one-on-one fight with a PC with AC 13 or so damage, always hits for 6 damage with a +5 to-hit...
Vs horse: if horse goes first, pc kills it in 6 rounds and horse deals about 15 damage
vs orog: pc kills it in 9 rounds, orog deals about 49 damage
vs gnoll: pc kills it in 4 rounds, gnoll deals about 19 damage. With a 20% chance that it'll crit for about the same damage that the orog does in 4 rounds)
note to self: do not use pathfinder as a benchmark on monster balance.
