Game 1: Jacob O'Hara

Turn 1 - St. Mary's Hospital

We find Jacob taking a much deserved break in St. Mary's employee break room. The hour is late, the sun having long disappeared below the horizon.

The day's events had left the psychology student tired and concerned. There had been a sudden rash of violent psychiatric patients, and he was eager to read anything else but someone's chart. Today's newspaper lying on the nearby table had been a welcome change. He was reading the section proclaiming Darke's Carnival had arrived in Arkham when one of the interns walked in, obviously on break for the next few minutes.

Having set shop in Arkham's northern district, the freak
show carnival is set to stay for an undefined period of time.
The Carnival's owner, 'Darke', expects that people will flood his
gates later on after sunset when the shows are set to begin.

"Come and get your fortune's read, or try your hand at the games...
everyone sure to find something that is to their liking."
Admission is free.
Tonight only!

"Hey Jake..." he waved as he realised you were there, "remember that patient we dismissed earlier this morning? Ms. Jamieson...? She's seeing lights at the place next door again. Insists that there's something bad about the place... that it's been abandoned for years..." The intern gave a loud sigh as he reached for one of the mags, "I'm sure the paddy wagon's going to pick her up again." He shook his head sadly, and half chuckled before taking a sip out of his mug. "Hey..! You're about done your rounds, aren't you?"

Re: Game 1: Jacob O'Hara

"Yeah, can't wait to get out of here and head out..." Jacob scratched his chin and got up. It had been a long day, and he had been socialed-out, but the carnival intrigued him. He'd always been a fan of the occult. "I think I'll head out to the merchant district and see what I can find, and then move on down to the Carnival," he pointed at the newspaper article, "I'm curious about what that's all about..."

He let the silence weigh a little as he considered if he should confide in the intern, "Say, Alex... is it me or there are a lot more violent patients lately? It's creeping me out..."

"Ain't it always around a the full moon? They say this is the second one in a month... Heh, once in a blue moon. I'll go to the carnival enventually," he said as he got up to stretch his legs. "Have a good one, let me know how the carnival pan out..."

Re: Game 1: Jacob O'Hara

Jacob nodded, "Will do..." he turned to look at the clock and then put his coat on. Once outside, he debated what to do next. 'The patient probably needs to be set at ease first...' he thought sullenly. He considered the woods nearby, but decided to take the bus up to the merchant district. He did need to find a gift as well, and he was fairly sure he could find something there.

He remembered that the woman lived off a path, which he thought led down through the unvisited Isle. So he set off towards the Island Park, hoping to catch a clue or two.

--> Unvisited Isle

As you walk through the island's trails, you hear chanting towards the east. You can try to see what is going on.

[Private to Jacob O'Hara: Make a sneak roll please.]

Re: Game 1: Jacob O'Hara

"What the...?"

Jacob carefully made his way eastward, wondering what the chanting was all about. Certainly, it wasn't boding anything good...

Re: Game 1: Jacob O'Hara

You make your way through the reeds and manage to get close enough down wind, the you manage to overhear five robbed figures standing five large monoliths near the edge of the island. "Azathoth, herald of the end of the World, we have set free your children that humanity has imprisoned behind padded cells... we know they work to your glory, may you rise and come forth..."

You quickly recognize the name Azathoth as the dark lord or armagedon... it might explain the rise in violent patients. Not wanting to be around when they are done, you quickly make your way back to the path. You quickly scan around you, hoping that no one saw you.

[Private to Jacob O'Hara: You get the 1 clue from the island, and because you managed to overhear the ritual, you gain two more clues].

Re: Game 1: Jacob O'Hara

Turn 2 - The Unvisited Isle

You make your way back to the main trails when you hear a dog barking in the distance, followed by the sound of noturnal birds flying out from the woodwork as they flee from it. The tree branches seem to be clawing up towards the night sky as if to devour them as they pass. Momentarily distracted, you hesitate before finally trying to make your way towards it…

Suddenly your vision blurs and you are brought to the local docks where a boat drops off its passengers. Two passengers aren't quite right, darkness surrounding them. A man and a woman. Suddenly, you are floating over a strange little house in the Merchant District. You are attracted by the light within, a strange glowing light… flickering… an angry man attacking the wall with his ax when there is a sudden burst of light and dark shapes escaping the light. Two winged creatures take to the air, hunting for prey; followed by another humanoid form.

The form reaches out for you. It was once a woman, but she is long dead… she clutches at you…

And then the vision ends as the flute you carry around your neck goes deathly cold against your chest. There is a sudden strident cry from above you. The fleeing birds suddenly scour under the trees as two large shapes circle the woods, hunting for something or someone. You suddenly get the bad feeling that they are looking for you!
