Re: Group 2, Part I

Vidar continues to move slowly in the dark, his aim is to mark the location of all the windows and find a spot where a bit of light cannot be noticed from within.

Re: Group 2, Part I

Eddy's candle is like a beacon fire compared to the utter darkness in which he was fumbling around. He gets a pretty good idea of the house's immediate layout: the room in which the pair entered is a kitchen and the long, east-west hall leads to a dining room to the south.

Before checking the hall, Eddy notices a glass display cabinet with what looks to be a silver tea set, and a large cache of fine dinner plates and glassware in the shadows of the far wall in the dining room.

Vidar looks into the room on his left, but can see little of anything inside; just two windows on the outter wall. The curtains are open, and moonlight is visible from outside. The hallway extends south into utter darkness.

Re: Group 2, Part I

Vidar slowly enters the room, checking for tripwires as he slowly crawls to the windows to unlock them in case a quick departure is needed, then to tightly draw the curtains so no light can escape.

It takes some time, but Vidar manages to crawl over to the window. It's lock is stuck, though, and it comes open suddenly. Luckily, it doesn't make too much noise. Vidar listens for a moment, but hears nothing. He closes the blinds on both sets of windows.

Re: Group 2, Part I

Eddy looks into the dining room for traps, mirrors and other house-owner tricks for a minute and then closes the curtains of that room.
Looten time
He sneaks to the cabinet, taking but a moment to see of the contents are genuine silver, and to see if the doors are rigged with traps, before partaking in it's content.

Re: Group 2, Part I

OOC: Stripe, on behalf of Eddy Smalls, rolled 8 using 3d6. Stealth.

Eddy carefully opens the doors and surveys the loot. The tea set, if everything is taken right down to the silver platter, might be worth six or seven gold pieces at the fence. Eddy would have to be careful that it doesn't clatter around in his backpack, and it would take up so much room he wouldn't be able to carry anything else. Every scratch would considerably lower its value, too.

The glasses might fetch five coppers. The plates, as a set of 12, might bring a silver apiece. Again, it's all very delicate and won't fit in his pack with the tea set.

hmmmm, I'll take this on the way out, see if there is anything of better value around.
Eddy looks for any other doors out of the dinner and if none can be found, sneaks back through hall to the kitchen.

Re: Group 2, Part I

Through the darkness, Eddy sees an open doorway to the south. The entrance is on the south side, so it would make sense that this would be the entryway.

Once the shutters are in place Vidar throws his cloak over a window for additional protection before striking his own light. The house should have it's own lantern somewhere, so he looks for it.

Re: Group 2, Part I

To say the room is lavish would be an understatement. There are three silver and gold-framed mirrors hanging on the walls, as well as some gelded candle holders. Each of the four is worth at least 1GP. The full-length mirror would be a great take, but very difficult to escape with. One of them could be fit in Eddy's pack; it'll probably bring almost 1GP.

Perhaps the greatest treasure is a beautiful fur coat. Eddy's heard of exotic coats going for 30GP or more. This one's might fetch anywhere from 5-10GP on the black market. Who knows with Zuul, though.

Re: Group 2, Part I

Whoever lives here has rich tastes. Vidar looks around the candle lit room at an office or study full of beautiful hardwood furniture. A large desk, which caused Vidar some problem crawling around in the dark, occupies the center of the room facing west. Two bookshelves line the south wall. Cabinets-a-plenty line the other walls, one with a display of various liquor bottles.

A battered shield hangs on the wall painted with a faded coat of arms. Two broadswords cross beneath it.

Almost as an impulse, Vidar opens the small wooden box on the desk and discovers at least a dozen cigars inside.

Vidar smiles at the room, this is the mans room, the seat of his power. Was it a show or did real power run through here. The contents of the desk would tell. He checks the desk carefully, searching it for traps before he attempts to open it and see what is inside.

Re: Group 2, Part I

Vidar opens the draws one by one, finding mostly papers of records and transactions and clerical supplies such as ink pots and quills. There is a fine gold letter opener, which Vidar quickly recognizes as an expensive item -- it'll fetch 50SP at least.

With some effort, Frank manages to stuff the coat in his pack, leaving little room for much else.

The room to the east is the den. The furniture and decorations here are extravagant. There are painting and tapestries on the wall, and vases and small statues throughout.

Vidar takes the letter opener and grabs a couple of the stogies, he then searches the room thoroughly looking for a safe.

Re: Group 2, Part I

To look for a safe, Vidar must look through everywhere. The many cabinets and drawers produce little in the way of fence-able booty -- but stashed inside one is a small red pouch with 20 silver pieces and two gold coins. Other than the bottles of liquor and wine, Vidar finds a crooked-stem ivory pipe sure to fetch a gold piece or two. It's sitting atop a box of fine rocco leaf ready to be packed into its bowl.

Re: Group 2, Part I

Vidar takes the coins, the pipe and tobacco, and picks one bottle without any idea which one might be worth the most so he takes whichever one seems the most potent and/or is unopened, wrapping it in paper from the desks ledgerbooks.

Once that's done he snuffs the light, takes his cloak off the window and heads upstairs.
