Adam plants a foot forward, ducks low and comes up with a powerful left uppercut sending the last berserker airborne.  He then follows up with thrust of his sword into the midair guy's leg, lodging the tip in his enemy's thigh bone.  He yanks to dislodge the sword and bring the guy hurtling down faster than gravity would allow, and brings his fist and the butt of his sword down on the guy's chest to knock the wind out of him, but hits with such force it shatters and collapses the ribcage, killing the man instantly!

"SHE'S GETTING AWAY!" Adam shouts of the fleeing mage, "STOP HER!"

Maverick pulls out his blowgun and shoots the mage in the back with a dart. It hits her right in the neck and she goes spiraling to the ground. But even as she falls, Maverick runs to her body and flips her over, sits on her and begins punching her in the face. And punching her. And punching her. He doesn't say a thing, but his actions say it for him.

(Standard: Deft Strike! I can move 2 before attack! Oh and hit.)

Encounter over. Someone please stop Mav before his bloodies his fists. With his own blood.

Carla comes to be within range to shoot at the mage, but finds a very very KO (or dead?) mage on the ground with Mav on her. Carla covers her mouth in an "oh my" pose and points at the pair for the others to see.

  Team Interrupt Action does their thing.  Even the ability to completely obliterate an encounter with one turn each isn't enough to stop Adam from halfway dying.  At least nobody on their side was murderized into single digit or negative hitpoints this time.

  "Uh, Maverick?  That hurts you more than it hurts her.  Unless she wakes up."  Some days, we are reminded Matt is Unaligned.  Even if it's closer to Adam than Angel.

Mittens puts away her demon pick and slings her bow then approaches one of the dead berserkers.  She grabs hold of it's greataxe, raises it over her head, and brings it down...  but misses.

"I would recommend beheading for ensuring the dead are in fact dead," she says, "Buuut apparently that's easier said than done.  But yea.  I recommend a sharp object of some kind."

Lucky rushes over to Maverick and goes to face-lick the boy to distract him.

Jeez, kid, he thinks, This person kill your last family or something?

Adam frowns deeply now that he's gone from idealistic "won't even kill monsters just in case" to "killing PC races."

"Can we at least refrain from mutilating corpses?" he requests, "It's not that hard to check if someone is no longer breathing.  Maverick?  Why so aggressive to the dead lady?  Expecting her to pop back up in spite of being dead?  Can't say I much blame you if that's your reasoning after the craziness we've seen."

Maverick almost hit Lucky from a stray swing, but he doesn't. He pauses, catching his breath. He sits up as his anger gives way for coldness. He rubs his nose a little, which smears some blood on it. He cringes a little from the licking, glances at Lucky, then lets a small sigh out through his nose. He stands up, getting off the lady. "Attacking the innocent... from boredom." he mutters, starting to answer Adam. "Words fail me, Adam."

Angel catches up to Maverick and hrms. "We should leave a message, letting people know why they died. They died of boredom. Well... technically died of trying to kill people because they were bored, but close enough."

Angel then turns to face Adam. "I mean, people really should know they died for being evil. Don't you think?"

Carla takes some cloth off one of the fallen enemies and rips it off before going to wipe Mav's knuckles off with it. Maverick sweatdrops, but doesn't stop her.

  Matt looks over to Mitten's attempts at Axe Coping.  "Keep at it then Mittens, you can't miss forever unless you let yourself."  It's already far too late for Adam, Hobgoblins are a PC race.

  He heads over to check the Mage for any important paperwork or such, considering she seemed to have been the one leading the group of more crazy than the PCs.  "Unless they happen to have evidence with their lord's seal, I don't think such warnings will be taken seriously.  Just used as 'proof' they are being put upon by lawless maniacs."

Mittens grins sheepishly at Matt and drops the axe.  She then unslings her bow and uses the end of it to write in the dirt and mud.

"BAD GUY," the written message says with an arrow pointing at the berserker.

She moves to the chainfighter and writes, "Lieutenant BAD GUY" with another pointy arrow.

For the wizard she writes, "BOSS VILLAIN."

Adam and Lucky stare and blink-blink at the latest bits with big sweatdrops.

"Um... thanks, Mittens," Adam says, "Beyond that their reputations will fill in the blanks.  Me too, Maverick.  At least now I can understand why Mittens was insisting this bunch needed to be... laid to rest.  Let's move on."

He begins to venture on down the road.

(( Level up music!  This is the end of the "Escape from Sembia" adventure!  Yaay!  Time skip after next round of posts.  Also, Adam didn't kill any Hobgoblins either.  That would be the farmer after they left.

After the battle, the PCs make it to their safe haven.

Angel smirks at Mittens and nods in approval, giving her a thumbs-up. She then looks at Matt. "Adam has a point. Their reps *will* speak for themselves. The way they attack people just for existing tells all of us that most people won't miss them." she looks in the direction of the bodies with a more serious expression as she says "won't miss them" and pauses.

When Adam begins walking, she hesitates and then follows him. Deciding to take her mind off what she was thinking about, Angel asks, "Just to confirm, Adam, only you understand Lucky, but Lucky understands the rest of us?"

Maverick closes his eyes. Lucky was closer to the truth than he may think. This group of villains specifically? They didn't kill Mav's parents. But these are exactly the KIND of people who did. Cruel. Heartless. Nothing but evil given a mouth to speak through and a fleshy shell to appear like people.

As soon as Carla is done with Mav's knuckles, Maverick hugs Lucky tight. When Adam says his piece and begins leading the way, Maverick mounts Lucky. Maverick is thankful for what Adam said about reputations damning them. He pulls Carla onto Lucky as well and holds the girl, idly petting her hair. He doesn't interrupt Angel's question. He'll probably think back to this some day and inwardly laugh about Mittens' antics, but for now, he's a little too shaken to have any humor. He leans over to whisper in Carla's ear.

Carla has that cute look of light surprise when Mav picks her up and puts her on Lucky. She blink-blinks as he starts petting her, then tilts her head backward to look up at him. When he whispers in her ear, the little angel blushes, cracks a smile and quickly steals a kiss on Mav's cheek before just idly petting Lucky and staring forward with watery eyes.

  Matt is more concerned about the people that hired them who either didn't care or approved of their reputation gaining actions.  His ridiculous Insight as well as completely baseless guesswork regarding Angel's expression gave him either the right answer to what she was thinking, or he was wildly off.  "I'm pretty sure if something happened to any of us, we'd miss eachother."  So far.  Things could change if tendencies towards slavery/torture as an amusing idea grew.

"I'm trying to come up with a song about kruthiks," Mittens says, "But I'm drawing a blank.  Well in any case, the city ahead has a serious kruthik problem in the sewers.  We should check it out once we wake up tomorrow.  And yeah.  What Matt said.  You would be missed."

Lucky of course returns the affection with more affection and smiles!  :)  He answers Angel with a nod, a smile, and a wink.

Adam answers by thumbing at Lucky and saying, "What they said."

(( Time jump to the next morning in a cozy inn on the outskirts of city if no objections. ))

Angel wakes up, having shared a room with Mittens and Carla (Unless Lucky was too insistent on being with Carla. In which case, Angel would have just left Carla in the "guys" room). The rooms were right next door to each other, just in case. Angel wakes and sits up in her bed, looking out the window, gently brushing the backs of her fingers across her left cheek in a girly eye-rub.

She looks at Mittens. "Good morning, kitten." she says as she forms a tired smile. "I actually slept well. You?" Of course, if skipping past good mornings is also on the menu, Angel would get dressed and meet with the others at the dining area. Yeah, probably best to skip to that point.

Maverick, of course, did not say anything unless circumstances demanded he did. This includes the next morning as he just nods in greeting to anyone arriving at the table to eat breakfast together.

Carla likes being shown affection well enough. Not as much as Maverick. Mav likes affection for its own sake. Carla likes it in an "aww? What a cute kitten!" way. Or when Maverick shows affection to her, she thinks "poor boy needs it" among other things. But that is another topic. Now, we are covering the topic of "next morning" and Carla takes her place at the table with the others.

  Refer to all previous comments regarding awakening personal maintenance.  Matt does have a question of dire importance for Carla.  "So, seeing how you likly won't yell your order over to the chef, what did you want for breakfast?"  He's expecting more note taking...  Which reminds them to stock up on weatherproofed notepads.  It may get to the point where he splurges on an Endless Chalk and Ioun Parchment so Carla will have a magical nigh unbreakable version of a whiteboard handy.

"Like a log!" Mits answers Angel cheerfully, "More memories return to my head too!  But nothing that'd be useful to our current situation.  Oh well!"

She devours her breakfast once it's served.

"There's nothing here that'll advance our overall goal of getting back to your hometown, but this place needs heroes to deal with it's kruthik problem.  If we choose to do so, all signs point to the Tain Foundry in the Cogs industrial district of Blackbones, not far from the more residential area of Khyber's Gate. Once there, the we should ask for Foreman Molric Torrano.  The Tain Foundry is the largest in Blackbones. This isn't surprising, since the ir'Tain noble house is one of the wealthiest in this city.  The foundry has a history of mistreating warforged.  Its supervisor, Molric, has an unsavory reputation for strict discipline and excessive violence against his workers."

"Won't advance our goal?" Adam asks, "You mean besides gaining more combat experience, rewards for helping out the city, and reputation?  I suppose we may as well be doing this place some good while we keep our eyes peeled for leads on how to get home."

Lucky is sure to lick Maverick's cheek before he digs in to breakfast.  He's learned Adam doesn't like getting half-chewed food on his face.

Angel leans back in her chair a bit, stretching with her arms up and back arched as she yawns. Then looks at Mittens. "Like he said. We may as well do good wherever we go until we do get home." she then looks at Adam. "But honestly, Adam, if what Mittens said before about your kingdom is true, then your home is in as much trouble as anyone we've come across. We will find a way home as soon as possible."

Angel glances at Matt, but lets him deal with the li'l angel.
